The LLEWELLYN Family
FAMILY VALUES
The Llewellyn family are in many ways the apparent archetypes of the values of Arynn Frey. They are proud, proper, generous but most of all logical. They know how to conceal their faults and do their best to project the image of a shining monarchy as well as a fully functioning family unit. Inside, order is valued. The children are expected to be well-behaved, obedient and to strive to constantly better themselves through learning and self-discovery.
Scandal within the Llewellyn will not be tolerated by the matriarch.
HEADSHIP
As queen, Kimora Llewellyn is both officially and unofficially the head of the family. She is authoritarian and most of the time is the one to make the important decisions whether her intervention and opinion are sought after (or even desired) or not.
UPBRINGING
All Llewellyn children are intensively schooled in the sciences, arts, etiquette and even politics. They benefit from the best education that Arynn Frey has to offer through private tutors. Furthermore, all of the royals are encouraged/required to master shrine enchantments mostly for the prestige.
MATURITY
With their extended lifespans, maturity comes a good deal later to the royal family than for most. There isn’t an “official” age of maturity but generally the children will be treated more as adults somewhere between 30-40.
MARRIAGE
Notionally, as is customary within Arynn Frey, the royal children are free to marry pretty much whomever they want, with the notable exception of slaves. In practice, the queen vets potential suitors of her children – especially the Crowned princess. Anyone with a troubled or murky past or whose loyalty to the monarchy is a little bit shaky would be rebuffed regardless of the feelings of the royal prince or princess.
ROLES
The most notable roles are those directly related to the monarchy. There’s the title of queen and queen consort of course, making them the heads of the family. They’re the ones who organize and plan things out in terms of events and outings and generally, the children are expected to comply. Increasingly, with the princes and princesses growing older, there’s now some scope for those interested to take on a few more responsibilities (so long as mother doesn’t object).
Update: As of Aestas 828, Akagi is now King.
OCCUPATION
Family business is the monarchy. For the past 500 years, that’s meant giving off a good image, acting as poster boys of sorts for the nation. The Royal Family makes the effort to seem as perfect as possible, exposing the values and capabilities of Arynn Frey. Following the revolution, the queen now holds far more power but she and the rest of her family still try to shine as beacons of virtue and perfection to inspire to.
CITIZEN STATUS
The Llewellyns are the ruling family, part of the monarchy. There’s the Queen Mother (Kimora Llewellyn ), the Queen’s consort (Kite), the King (Akagi Llewellyn ) and his children who will in theory inherit the throne following their father's passing and the six other royal princesses and princes.
LAND & WEALTH
The Royal Family, somewhat naturally, are very well off. They live in the luxurious palace in the capital city of Elyusian. All of the royals have their own quarters within the palace that they are more or less able to decorate and organize as they see fit. In addition, there are over 150 slaves around the palace both to tend to the needs of the royals and some of the freemen working under them. The family owns many other properties around the property, less grandiose and more “homely” than the palace of course. Money isn’t much of an issue for the Llewellyns, who can generally afford pretty much whatever they like. More extravagant and expensive purchases from the part of the children would likely have to be vetted by Kimora.

HISTORY
The Llewellyn family is an ancient one and its members can trace their origins right back to the very first enchanters who helped found Arynn Frey.
Following a war involving Coheed, Lorendale, and Dresmond the monarch of the time made what would prove to be a mistake. They knew their magic would set them apart from the other kingdoms from a power standpoint, but they also knew that as long as they were busy farming and training men and women to swing swords that they wouldn't hone enchantment as well as they needed to. The monarch at the time resisted the leading scholars' encouragement to shift the kingdom's focus; it came to a point where the scholars banded together and, through rhetoric and even coercion, convinced the king to reorder the kingdom's power structure and to place the true decision-making power into the hands of the scholars.
For the next five-hundred years, the monarchy would put up with the state of affairs. They waited. Planned among themselves awaiting the perfect moment to act. The current monarch Kimora Llewellyn married her childhood sweetheart Kite at the age of 50. Since then, they’ve had a number of children. However, in the past few months, the council has begun to show its cracks and the time may finally have come for them to make their move.
OTHER
Before leaving Arynn Frey, any/all Llewellyns will have to get their departure vetted and agreed upon by the King.
