The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.
New gifted family of Lorendale added to the Families of Importance, the Decarlos!
At the beginning of February 2022 the site will experience a 5 year time jump! The IC year will jump from 822 to 827! This gives us about 8 months to prepare our characters for that jump. We plan to host very intentional planning sessions to help everyone get their plots and characters ready for this! As of this moment, one thing you should all start considering is making sure the threads your characters are in are furthering your character's stories.

Raine frowned. "I'm sorry it failed, but you made a good effort. I'm just glad you made it out okay." As for his statement on looking for him, "I...did?" She didn't remember going.
She rubbed her temples and sighed in frustration. "I've been having blackouts lately, and when I wake up I don't know where I am or what I've been doing. It's driving me insane!" She was beyond that, but she didn't know.
At least she knew that she was having the blackouts to begin with. That was a start, it should have made it easier for him to explain things. That was in theory at least. In practice... Well, he wasn't too sure how to break it to someone, even a friend, that they had an evil dragon living inside of their head that was trying to actively delete them as a personality.
"These "blackouts"... They've been happening since you took an arrow to the eye, haven't they?"The captain would begin somewhat tentatively.
Tybalt couldn't help but shake his head. "Please tell me you've told someone else about this." He didn't even care of it was Hiram, that was just how concerned this development had made the captain.
The man would hesitate for a few moments, glancing nervously in the direction of the door for a moment, wondering if it was possible that he might be overheard. "I'm afraid that they're more than just blackouts."

Tybalt frowned somewhat. He wasn't sure whether or not the fact that nobody else knew of this story was a good thing or not. On one hand, he could imagine that others would either try to take advantage of the situation or fear her to the extent that they concluded that disposing of her was the best option.
"I don't know how to tell you this..." The man confessed. Ironically enough, he was fearful that she was the one who would take him for insane with such an explanation. "The dragon, it was speaking. It was the one that was in control just now."

Tybalt held his breath. He didn't know where to even begin with any of this. First, he needed to get the young woman to realize that this wasn't a joke. "Raine, look at me. I'm serious. It was speaking through you, using you but I've very much certain that it wasn't you or anything friendly." The dragon sounded dangerous, the man was quite certain of that much.
The danger would have been such that Tybalt wanted it dealt with. "The arrow, when was this?" The captain questioned. He'd been away, so he assumed it could at least be a few months now.

Raine took a deep breath. She didn't want to believe what she was hearing, but she had no other explanation. When she met his gaze, between blinks the human eye would shift to match her dragon eye, then just as quickly shift back. Oh yes, the dragon was listening.
At Tybalt's question, she shrugged. "A few months ago. I remember getting shot, but not much else from that day. The blackouts pretty much started right then. When I came to I was back home at the Eldouir estate. I've tried to keep myself from sleeping so it'd stop, but I'd blackout mid whatever I was doing. I can't fight it and it's getting harder."

The change of Raine's eye didn't go unnoticed. Indeed, Tybalt's bracers began to rumble, delivering a silent but unmistakable message: there was still danger here. He forced himself to remain patient, calm, to control himself. One foot in the wrong place and something told him that things could quite easily get ugly. "Raine, I need you to stay with me."
He was working things out as quickly and carefully as he could. The captain pondered the issue. "I take it you don't want the dragon in control." If she didn't even know of its existence, then she doubted that she did. "I don't think it has any good intentions right now and I don't think we can reason with such a force. Focus, we don't want it coming back now."

"Okay... We definitely need to sort this out. Are there any of the Eldouir or any other gifted you know of who could help?" If not, he was going to have to take things to Cassian and his witches and pray that they could do something. It would be a last ressort. The King of Nevermere was a pragmatic man. If he deemed Raine a threat and safer dead, Tybalt had no doubt that he would kill her.

Tybalt hesitated, uncertain. He didn't want to start telling the woman what to do but... "Raine, if that thing takes hold again... There's no saying just what it could do. To yourself and to others." The power of the dragon being out of control was the sort that would frighten even the bravest of souls. "You can't allow that to happen to you. If you're erased, it would be like you dying!"

She grinned then. "That's exactly the point, isn't it? Its cute that you care so much about her that you'd actually try to stop me. Sorry friend, but that isn't happening unless you start collaring gifteds again. But that would look bad to seal away one of the strongest gifts in Lorendale, wouldn't it? Face it, captain, her days are numbered. Just say your goodbyes now, before it's too late."
She crossed her arms, just smiling at Tybalt. She scared him. Good.
