The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

She’d just come from the funeral - if you could call it that. Magda herself had been responsible for the arrangements, and she saw no need to invite anyone. Fewer mourners meant fewer questions. No funeral pyre was constructed, as Magda and Conall had taken care of the cremation in advance. So, with nothing to ground the ceremony, the whole event was a terribly awkward affair - invovling only Magda and a reluctant elder witch. The witch rushed through the whole thing as quickly as she could, seeming to understand that Magda was not a grieving daughter who needed sympathy and consideration. Magda had never needed any sympathy. She only needed justice - and today, she had it.
After the funeral, she went straight for the Morrigan estate. Not to see Conall, or even Theo, but to see Rosamere. Sweet, darling little Rosamere - the only other person who knew that Conall and Magda were somewhere they shouldn’t have been that evening. While Conall assured Magda Rosamere would keep her mouth shut, she was the kind of woman who liked to see things for herself. Maybe Rosamere wouldn’t need any additional encouragement, but Magda couldn’t take the risk. She had to be sure.
Magda, still dressed in her mourning black, was shown to Rosamere’s room by a servant. She thanked him and shooed him off before knocking gently on Rosamere’s door.

Rosamere was relaxing in her room, rather forcibly, to her frustration. She has one little potions bender and so she wasn't allowed near any brewing for a week. A whole week! All because she just so happened to not open her windows one time and what she was brewing turned out to have fumes with interesting side effects when mixed together. Which, had her going for apparently three days and then she'd crashed for another day afterwards. She huffed as she lounged on her bed with a book in hand and a stack piled on the floor. Forced rest was never fun and had a tendency to make her a little snappy. But between Conall and Fabian, well it was pretty decently enforced.
The knock on her door was completely unexpected and she laid there on her bed for a moment before she set her book down on the bed with a slight grumble. If it was another family member coming to 'express their concern' Rosamere was going to loudly close her door and scream into a pillow. Harder than she almost every did, Rosamere swung open the door in a comfortable at home dress that never left her room with the slightest of scowls on her face that quickly melted into confusion.
"Magda? What are you doing here?"
If Conall had sent Magda to make sure she didn't leave the house, Conall was going to get a sneaky little prank potion coming his way.

Magda raised her eyebrows in surprise as the door flung open with ferocity. She’d heard about Rosamere’s little potion bender, and it looked like she was paying for it now. A smile tugged at the corner of her lip as her eyes shamelessly dragged along the young Morrigan’s form before returning to her face.
“Do I need an excuse to call on a friend?” Magda tilted her head to the side, still smirking, eyes sparkling as if Rosamere were a particularly tempting treat she intended to swipe from the dessert tray. “Well, are you going to invite me in?”

Rosamere blinked for a moment at the 'friend' comment, cause she hadn't realized that Magda considered them to be any kind of friends, really. Though, with someone else on her mind, the look Magda gave her didn't make her blush like it had the last time. "Yeah, come on in." She stepped aside to let Magda come on and then shut the door behind her before moving over to sit on her bed.
"So what brings you by?" Because a little thought in the back of her head wasn't buying that she didn't have a reason.

Magda stepped inside, smiling casually as she looked around Rosamere’s room. It was a sweet little setup, fit for a Morrigan princess. It looked different when she wasn’t having blood dabbed from her face.
“To check in,” Magda sat next to Rosamere on her bed, lounging back a little as she studied the young woman. “I know the last time we saw one another was under…unorthodox circumstances.”

Rosamere turned her head to look Magda in the eye, tilting her head slightly as she raised an eyebrow. "Wouldn't it technically be twice now, though?" Between the masquerade and then the... eventful late night visit previously. Both events that she'd not be speaking about, one more than the other. Conall and Ravin she'd given vague details but nothing more. But the late night visit, she'd not even mentioned it again to Conall.

Magda chuckled, a dark velvety sound that was followed with a most mischievous grin. “Yes, I suppose it would be, wouldn’t it?” She watched Rosamere for a moment as if she were taking her apart piece by piece with her eyes. Biting her bottom lip slightly, she adjusted on the bed before speaking again.
“First, I wanted to thank you for your help. Without you, I’m sure I would have looked a frightful mess for weeks to come,” Magda’s smile was soft, eyes big and glistening in the candlelight, “Second, I just wanted to let you know I’m here if you ever need to talk. I know we’re not family, but I will be soon. I want to make sure we get to know one another. Understand one another.” Magda smiled as she gazed through her long lashes at Rosamere.

Rosamere didn't exactly shrug, it was't exactly the best manners to do so, so she gave her a little half-smile instead. "Even if you hadn't been with Conall that night, or you were someone random on the street, I still would have tried to help."
Now, normally, she would have been a little more quiet or a little more demure but the frustration of being kept from her potions was affecting her just a little bit. But one thing it didn't do was make her more likely to speak about anything that was Morrigan Business. If anything, it made her want to mentally lock that down, a little more spiky in her thoughts because her family was the one thing she was very protective about, in her own way. Which meant, she might talk to Magda but Magda wasn't a Morrigan so it wouldn't be anything related to the family if she did take her up on it.
"Thanks, Magda. I might take you up on that." And then she registered one sentence in particular and she raised an eyebrow at the other woman. "I hadn't heard that you and Theo had a date in mind." Which, she knew they didn't thanks to Conall saying that he wouldn't let the two of them be married. So her curiosity was piqued just a little.

Magda smiled sweetly at Rosamere, this one entirely genuine. “That means a lot, Rosamere,” Magda said softly, “More than you know.” She wondered how her life might have turned out differently had someone just wanted to help her. If someone had seen the way her father had clung to her and started to ask questions. If one person in her life had stuck their neck out for her, saved her from a childhood that was a hellscape of abuse. But there was no point wondering now.
“No, no date in mind,” Magda brushed her skirt, voice dismissive as if the date was inconsequential, “But that doesn’t make a Morrigan marriage any less of a certainty. Your father is a man of his word, and if I didn’t have the Morrigan family, I’d have nowhere else to go. Especially now.”

Rosamere returned the smile and bumped her shoulder a little. "Plus, you did say we were friends. Which, speaking of, how is your face feeling?" Though to be fair, none of her friendships had started off on such an... interesting note like this apparent friendship with Magda.
"Then what date would you pick? Like, the ideal date?" Because she was actually curious. "And yeah, Father hardly ever goes back on his word once he's given it. Don't actually know of a time he ever has, though Conall is closer to Father than I am."

“Still hurts a little under my eye,” Magda said, touching it gingerly, “But that’s alright. Everything heals with time.” She smiled at Rosamere, obviously referencing the attack itself more than the injury.
“Before winter is through,” Magda said decisively, at this point in time considering it would be either Conall or Theo. “Too far beyond that, people will start to talk. And boy do they love to talk." Magda flashed Rosamere a smile.

"Do you need more? I have a lighter bruise cream for minor bruises if you want?" She was fully prepared to offer it but she wouldn't actually get up to grab it unless Magda actually wanted to use it.
"Winter isn't a bad time of year, and hey, that means ours would be close together then since mine and Fabian's will be around the middle of the season." She gave a galf smile. "Yeah, people really do."

“No, no that’s alright.” Magda smiled, putting her hand gently on Rosamere’s arm to stop her from getting up, “A little pain reminds you that you’re still alive.” Her eyes sparkled, the almost predatory sharpness returning.
Fabian. Magda held back the smirk that threatened to spread across her face. “I’m so pleased for you both,” Magda said, feigning genuine excitement, “Both of you seem quite happy with the match.” Magda tilted her head to the side a little, adding innocently, “Are you?”

She glanced at the bruised area around Magda's eye with obvious and genuine concern. "Well if you're sure, Magda." She wouldn't force the salve on her, didn't want to accidentally cross any boundaries.
"Yeah, I would say so. Though it will be a little odd not living with here with, well everyone. It'll be a bit of a change, that's for sure." She pauses for a split second. "I definitely need to get better at talking to larger groups of people, though. Definitely a perk of being the youngest, I wasn't expected to socialize or talk to people as much as everyone else did."

“It’ll come with practice,” Magda said, the wild, mischievous spark in her eyes starting to kindle to a flame. “Pretty girl like you, I can't imagine what about it makes you so…” She tucked a loose piece of hair behind Rosamere’s ear, “Nervous.”
