The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Rosamere discretely made her way through the streets, once more in her plain gown and a plain cloak, towards the Midnight house. She'd sent a message ahead, asking Ravin if she could stop by before business hours, though not just to drop off potions and toys like she normally did. There were still honeycakes, wooden toys, and the various potions the Doves had asked for, of course, but she also had questions of her own for Ravin. As well as offering her gratitude to him in return for what he had given to her family, whether he realized it or not.
With a smile, she knocked on the door and returned the greeting when Tulip answered, offering her the basket of goods for everyone as she stepped into the brothel. So far, only Odina knew that she knew Ravin, and not even Conall knew. She hadn't told anyone who it was that had introduced her to Odina, having been stubborn in her own quiet way when asked. Rosamere exchanged some small talk with one of the other Doves until she saw Ravin.

Ravin had been feeling distracted. There was so much at stake: for him, his doves, for Odina, for Ben, for Nevermere. He wished the world could just pause, give him a second to breathe before resuming its business. But things didn’t work that way. Ravin was muttering to himself, rattling off some sort of mental to-do list as he came down the stairs. Even if Rosamere talked to him, he woudln’t see her or register her presence until he was practically right on top of her.
“My darling,” Ravin mustered a smile, genuinely happy to see her, “What a delightful surprise.”

She looked up at Ravin as he came down, noted the tiredness as he muttered to himself. Whatever it was, it certainly was keeping him busy it seemed and she almost felt bad that she was intruding on his time. But, he also looked like he needed a moment to rest too, so she motioned for him to sit.
"You look like you need to take a breather, too." Hopefully, she wasn't going to be adding to his plate since it seemed to be along the same lines as what Odina had in mind.

Ravin laughed breathlessly, not letting her sit before he pressed a kiss to her cheek. Then, he dropped into the chair opposite her with a sigh, as if every aching muscle in his body was at last granted relief. He sat for a moment, just breathing before he realized his attention had wandered.
‘I’m so sorry, darling, do you want something to drink?” He shook his head as if banishing the sleep and fog from his eyes.

She felt a little bad now, seeing just how tired he was. But she was already here and it was something he would hopefully appreciate knowing. "How about some tea?" She gave him a concerned look. "Have you been getting enough rest lately?"

Ravin laughed, nodding to Tulip who scampered off to fetch some tea. “Is it that obvious I haven’t?” He ran a hand through his hair, then ran both over his face. “There’s just…” He glanced over at his doves, voice quieting as he spoke directly to Rosamere, “A lot of people that need me. I’m glad to be there for them, but sometimes…it’s a heavy responsibility to carry.”

She thanked Tulip for the tea and waited till it was the two of them before she spoke up again, as quiet as he had been. "Moreso because I usually use certain potions to keep going and to not look tired, so I know what to look for to hide it." She paused for a second. "Is there any way I can help or offer any assistance?" There probably wasn't but he was her friend and if there was somethi g she could do, she would try.

Ravin raised an eyebrow of concern, wondering if such a practice was healthy, but deciding he was hardly an authority to speak on such things. He smiled at her offer to help, reaching forward for one of the treats, “The warmth of your presence is a great a help as any could give,” Ravin took a bite out of a sweet bun, chewing it with relish. After a moment, he tilted his head in a question. “And what of you, little Rosamere? What is it that has you turning to the potions for strength?” He winked at her, smiling goodnaturedly.

Rosamere looked down into her tea, slightly embarrassed, at the question about her potions. Which, she'd brought upon herself by admitting that in the first place. "Well, some potions that I work with at times, experimenting and whatnot, some times take longer than a day to brew. I don't work with them often but I keep potions on hand, just in case." She gave him a slightly sheepish look. "I might not work with them often but I'd rather have them on hand for if and when I decide to work on one of my longer brews."
She paused for a second. "If you need one or two, I can get them to you."

Ravin made a ‘hmmm’ sound; not one of judgment, but one of interest. He did, however, earmark this bit of information for later consideration. It was in his nature to play guardian, even when it meant sticking his nose where it didn't belong. He had yet to decide whether this was one of those times.
“That’s quite alright, darling,” Ravin smiled taking another bite, “I’m happy to indulge my martyr complex. I’m not sure who I’d be without it.” Another wink, another pause, before: “You didn’t answer my question love,” He smiled gently, prodding her, “What is it that’s on your mind?”

As the youngest in the family, she'd like to think that she could interpret the nonverbal sounds her siblings would make and that skill set gave her the feeling that she probably shouldn't mention her accidental three day potions venture to Ravin. Though she might slip him a potion to at least help him get more restful sleep at night without actually cutting into his waking hours. Maybe she could ask one of the Doves to help with it...?
Her brain came back to the present at his question and she gave him a bit of a slightly sheepish look. "Sorry, you looked like you need a breather first." She took a sip of her tea before continuing. "So I had an interesting conversation with a soldier and it turns out that there's another grouping of people interested in something similar to us and our mutual friend. Except there's a Delaney involved. But they're serious, so far."
She bit her lip. "They don't know about my cousin. I'm working on finding out more first, seeing who else is involved. But I wanted to let you know."

Ravin raised a singular eyebrow, the playful host shifting seamlessly into the businessman. The negotiator. At the Midnight House, Odina’s true identity was a mystery even to his doves. She and her children had become a fixture in their little makeshift family, but never once had he mentioned or even alluded to the fact she was anything other than just a Cambrian visitor that needed rest. But clearly, Rosamere knew better. And, evidently, she was doing something with that knowledge.
“Odina is a treasured guest of my family,” Ravin said, folding his fingers together as he leaned forward, “But as you can imagine if our mutual friend and your cohort developed any…firm ideas about what the future holds, I trust you’ll let me know before you make any moves.” Ravin’s expression was one of the utmost seriousness, “I wouldn’t want to leave my family vulnerable to any kind of retaliation, should your efforts be…unsuccessful.”

Rosamere didn't look away from Ravin even if she was feeling slightly nervous about the shift in demeanor. She wasn't going to let something happen to Odina and her kids, nor let it get back to Ravin and his Doves.
"No one knows about my cousin other than my siblings and I have been careful to make sure that no one outside my family knows." She pressed her fingers slightly to her cup, to keep the nerves she was feeling at bay as best she could.
"However, I am not mentioning family interests to anyone. Not until I know more about what is going on. Whatever I do find out, I will make sure to let you know." She was serious, regardless of nerves, as she met Ravin's gaze. Rosamere didn't know much about these other people or their plans just yet, so she was going to keep knowledge of Odina back as long as possible. That was something she would not risk, as much as she could possibly help it.

Ravin nodded slowly, taking Rosamere at her word. Despite all that he’d done and seen, Ravin was a trusting creature by nature. He liked to think he was a good judge of character, and Rosamere was one he’d taken a particular interest in. There was a pure…goodness about her, which made you naturally fall into her orbit. Ravin reached out a hand to put it over hers, squeezing it to put her at ease.
“Though she may not be family by blood, Odina has become part of our lives here at the Midnight House,” He smiled, voice soft, “Whatever we can do to protect her, we will try to see it done.”
Though he didn’t say it, his interest in Odina was beyond that of protecting his flock. Ravin wanted to see justice served to the aristocracy of Nevermere - and he hoped Odina could be the one to see it done.
