The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Well, things weren't always very dull in Nevermere. The Coheedsman had met his fair share of stuck ups, also his fair share of women who wanted a moment of recklessness. But sometimes... he just needed something else. Which is why he wound up come up on the Midnight House. It was still light out, but he entered with a few others that he had befriended during his time in Nevermere.
They started with drinks, and Rian was quick to take a liking to one of the Doves, Poppy. Though she seemed quiet and reserved, she seemed to linger with him. And it was as the time passed, more drinks were shared between him and those he had entered with. The more the man of Coheed started to slip out. He got a bit more loud, boisterous, and it was at the current time that he stood up, taking Poppy with him as he stood up, keeping her close as he slammed his mug down on the table. A large grin across his face. "Then I challenge you to try!" he hollered to the man across the table. Clearly meaning that he was talking about something more physical than a battle of wits.
Poppy started talking quickly to Rian, trying to tell him to sit back down as she looked around for back up in case he didn't listen... which he didn't. His bright eyes still on the other man.

Looking around the Midnight House, Katerina cracked her knuckles. Since Ravin had left things had changed a lot, and while Divine was doing a good job, things were different. Still the Van Zant clan had done a good job of keeping the place safe, and that's what she cared about at the moment. Standing up on the second floor she had a good view of the main floor from the banister, her favorite place to perch, twirling one of her knives between her fingers.
A man with Poppy had been starting to get loud but for the most part Kat had found him harmless. Just someone getting a little drunk, and was sure the dove would be able to calm him down. But then he was standing, pretty much dragging the poor woman with him and shouting far too loud. Poppy's eyes looked around and the small muscle of the Midnight House obliged. She thought about throwing her knife but Divine had mentioned her being a bit too eager to draw blood, so she went with shouting first. "Oi! Fancy pants! Wanna take it down a notch?" One chance.

The man seemed to be fumbling with his words as Rian stared him down, his arm locked securely around Poppy as if to not let her run off. He wasn't a threat to her by any means, Rian had never been that kind of Coheedsman. But his late wives had known their place and when to speak against their husband. Which was always in private. It was a behavior he still sort of expected now a days, though he had started to open up to women having their free opinions. Especially hanging around Magda.
So he had not been prepared for a feminine voice to rise above the commotion around him. Those bright blue eyes swinging around to make eye contact with the rather small woman who seemed to be staring in his direction. Somewhere in his mind, it connected the voice to her. A slow smirk lifted one side of his lips, only partially amused. "I must say, no one has called me fancy pants before." He called to her, just as loud over the crowd, Poppy wiggled a bit in his arms and he let her go with a surprisingly gentle hand.

The way the man held onto the dove rubbed her the wrong way. They weren't property, and he didn't have the right to be dragging her about, although some Nevermere men would disagree. Still this one didn't seem normal, the way he talked and acted around his group, he was clearly an outsider. Kat didn't care much though, just that he let Poppy go.
As he called back she thought about jumping the railing, but he let Poppy wiggle away. So not a direct threat, but certainly someone that she didn't need around anymore. Stalking down the stairs she squared her shoulders, knife still playing between her fingers. "Well maybe loud mouth suits your better but it doesn't matter much. If you want to fight you take it outside." Small squabbles were usually fine, but something about his voice and mannerisms, Kat didn't think it would be anything small.

Rian tracked her like she was his target on a hunt. The way she moved down the steps as if she was the owner of not only the establishment, but the entire block of homes. It made him raise a brow at her, blue eyes flicking between her face and the knife that was being twisted between her nimble fingers.
A small smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, lifting one side as he let out a huff of amusement at her telling him to take it outside. "I haven't even started anything." He countered. "You seem like you want to though, little one." He said as his head tilted a bit.

There wasn't a single thing about this guy that was redeemable. She didn't watch but it was impossible not to feel his eyes on her. It made the hairs raise on the back of her neck, and Kat didn't like it. But she kept her knife twisting and twirling, ready for anything as usual.
Eyes flicking over to the dove who had made her way as far as possible Kat swiveled her attention back to the man who said he had done no wrong. "Causing a stir, man-handling poor Poppy, and certainly planning to start a fight. Does that sound like nothing to you?" Annoyance was starting to creep into her voice at this point, especially since she couldn't control her height. "What gives you the right?"

At the mention of Poppy, he looked over to her. An almost shocked lift of his brows towards her. "Now I thought we were having fun," Which they had been, until Rian stood up and simply... helped Poppy to her feet with him. "Causing a stir sounds more like what you are doing now." his head rolled back to Kat. Analyzing her. The way her fingers twitched with the blade, as if it was a nervous tick. Or maybe nervous was the wrong wrong. Focused tick.
"Well, we certainly were having fun. And I believe my coin gave the right for the drinks we've had and shared, and for the company. Which has now left, freely, on her own." He pointed out. "Are you throwing me out? Over my voice rising?" He questioned her. "Or threatening to stab a patron of your employment? I have a feeling it wouldn't do well for business." It was definitely more the liquor talking than himself.

"Fun? I like to have fun." This guy was all bark and no bite clearly. As soon as someone challenged him he was on the defensive. Boring. But it meant that Poppy was safe so she didn't care. With every plan to stalk away she was about to turn but he then had the audacity to blame her for his own idiotic actions. That wouldn't stand.
Raising an eyebrow she wasn't sure who had hurt this man so he jumped to conclusions so easily but that wasn't her problem. It was his and he wasn't about to take it out on the Midnight House staff if Kat had anything to do with it. "I don't know how you jumped from 'quite down' to you getting tossed or threatened? Someone hurt you hun?" Grinning in her usual fashion she wished she could just stab the guy and be done with it. That was frowned on by upper management though.

A barking laugh left him. 'Hun'. Now that was quite hilarious. "Well, where I'm from, weapons getting involved usually means to vacate the area. And you certainly look to put on some tough act to try and intimidate your customers. Is it because you are a woman that you feel the need to act like this?" He asked, tilting his head. She certainly didn't frighten him. He had seen far worse in his life than some witch with a blade in a whorehouse.
It was that thought that made him imagine a scolding coming from Magda. His jaw ticked just at the thought of the infuriating woman. Yeah, that was the last thing he needed. Not only to be lectured about being at such a place but then also because he'd manhandled some woman who thought her britches were bigger than they actually were. He reached into his pocket and tossed down a small bag of coins on the table. "Certainly not worth my troubles," Rian said to the men around the table as he started for the door.

Weapon? She looked at the knife in her hand with surprise. Certainly most people wouldn't consider the little thing that threatening, but if he insisted so be it. She really was sick of those from outside of Nevermere coming just to stir up some trouble. Ravin probably would have some diplomatic way of dealing with all of this, but that had never been something Kat understood.
Still she wanted to see the place do well, and getting a talking to by Poppy wasn't on her to do list. Grinning she snagged the bag, lightly tossing it to Poppy so she could go compose herself. Turning to the other men she spoke to them rather than the annoying tall one. "Apparently I've frightened him." Kat turned to look at the man insisting on leaving, eyebrow raised in a challenge. "Does he have to pay you all to deal with him? I'll do my part, a round on the house guys."
