The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Gideon stood collecting the books, he paused to run a finger down the gold etched title of one of the books before gathering them into his leather bag. As he did so he chanced a sympathetic look at Mara, "Thank you, for the chance Mara, I know you weren't my biggest fan when we were younger, Ronan stayed on me about it enough," a kind smile touched Gideon's face, "He would be proud of you, the kids. So..."
Mara waved her hand at the mention of her dead husband. It was true that was the reason that she had reasons to not trust Gideon, but that didn't mean she wanted it brought up. She tended to ignore the things that she didn't know what to do about, and there was absolutely nothing she could do about his death.
"Just remember if you screw up Lord Decarlo, that's it. You know I don't give second chances easy, and certainly never a third." Because this in her mind was a second chance. People could improve, and she was giving him the opportunity to rise. Sink or swim, and he better not sink her if he decided to bail out.
Offering out a hand she smiled politely with an eyebrow raised.

"Fair enough, fair enough," Gideon read people better than they thought he could, he understood when to move on and hush sure he may prowl and prod maybe wonder about things but he wasn't about beating a dead horse. So he stood and took her hand giving it a firm handshake, "I understand completely well Mara, screw up and I'm out of a job, thank you again...I will see you tomorrow? Bright and early?"
"As much as I admire the enthusiasm, paperwork first. Not just anyone gets to work with the crown." She crossed her hands politely, but a small smile crept through the stony exterior. "If you finish it by tomorrow and turn it in though we should be able to start by the end of the week." That was the most enthusiasm he would fine, but it was more than Mara usually gave. She needed help, and although she hadn't liked who Gideon was in the past, people could in fact change. And she was looking forward to seeing that.

Gideon nodded, "Sounds good Lady @mara, I will have this back to you first thing in the morning," and with that Gideon set off with a even more unusually happy pep in his step.
