The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Keelan hadn't heard nor seen Regan Lassiter since the failed garden party, it frustrated him beyond his wits at both Uncle Adder (@finn) and Regan. He would toss his entire family name out the window for that woman just to be with her, damned be the scandal that came with it. When his ears hadn't returned anything about bunny the Morrigan decided he would find her built like a fucking Moose partner Grant.
Surely if anyone knew anything about her it would be her very own partner. So he stood waiting in front of the Hollow, the Delaney home, after requesting a word with Grant. He stood tall, hands in his pockets gripping tightly the cylinder of brass in his hands .... Just in case the Moose wanted to play.

Grant was due to fuck right off out of Nevermere soon but someone informed him he had a guest. A Morrigan, at that.
Contemplating whether it would be worth it or not to straight ought gut Conall in front of the family home, Grant opted for the less violent route and left his sword in his room. The Captain Commander might have had an aneurysm if both of the Rangers got in 'trouble' right prior to their debut mission, even though he supposed he was now the last Ranger. Hopefully the first of many, provided he didn't get himself killed. That'd probably be very difficult, given his new temporary partner, but still.
He proceeded out the front door and spied himself a Morrigan.
"Oh," he said, blinking, clearly surprised. "Hello, Keelan. Is something wrong?"
If he had been a little more aware he might've figured it out quicker, but he was mostly surprised he didn't have to see Conall's smug face. After that he would have guessed Lady Captain Delaney here to say something or other about his pairing?

Keelan wasn't a short man and he wasn't entirely bulked out, slender was his build but the two extra inches and whatever cornbread based meal the Delaney's fed Grant made Keelan always appear a tad smaller when in the presence of the moose.
Still, Keelan was confident so he didn't shrink he just stood taller and held the stiffness of confidence that came with his name.
"Grant," Keelan grunted out his greeting, "I'll be quick friend, you haven't seen Regan lately have you? She was my plus one to a family garden party and she left," he left out what he assumed was the reason, his fucking Uncle, "During and hasn't spoke with me since, I figured she's paired with you so...have you seen her?"

Grant opened his mouth to try and parse this.
Oh. Oh, jeez, right.
Luckily Grant was too angry to remember he'd also been barking up that particular tree before. Mostly he wanted to strangle someone or something. Or both? Both would be fine. But he saw the look on Keelan's face and frowned a little.
"Uh, shit," he said. Yeah, Regan didn't really do well at parties. He assumed a Morrigan party was the liquid shits, personally, so he couldn't particularly blame Regan for ducking out early. Especially if Conall someone got mouthy at her. "Right, well, uh. I haven't seen her at all, actually, for a few days."
Admitting that rekindled the angry little flame in his heart and he pushed on. Keelan seemed like a nice enough guy for a Morrigan and Regan maybe had feelings for him? Grant learned that was a bad idea years ago with Magda. Feelings hurt.
"So, she got transferred to the Royal Guard," Grant said, not really knowing how to be gentle with the news. "So I'm not her partner anymore and I dunno where she's at? If I had to guess real close to the King, but," he shrugged. "By any chance did you hear that story about some soldier that turned into a werewolf-thing and tried to attack the King?"
Grant wasn't sure (author's note: pending other threads) but he had a very good feeling that was his partner. Er, former partner.

Another hmm'ing grunt in response, this was all entirely news to him and it told him almost everything he needed to about Regan Lassiter. He assumed she felt like because of his name, or anyone with a name that held weight, deserved to evidently waste their time on her. Keelan had surely wasted his time. Removing his hand from his pocket the Morrigan decided to pack a smoking pipe as he processed everything.
As for his last question he shrugged and simply stated, "No, sure don't know a thing about that friend. Royal Guard hmm? Well, what will you do now big guy?"

Grant knew full well what he was actually going to do but that wasn't really something he supposed he should share. Outside the family, anyway.
"Guess I'll get a new partner while Regan escorts the King around," said the Delaney, with a shrug. "I dunno. Sorry I had to be the one to tell you, and like this of. All ways." And Grant was sorry, because he knew for a fact that when he found out he was ripshit. Keelan didn't seem like a bad guy. Probably. Regan was usually a good judge of character.

Keelan simply replied as he always did, a grunt of acknowledgement as he ripped into his pipe letting a cloud of smoke roll around his head. It reflected in his electric blue eyes that searched Grants own...
"Nothing to worry about mate, I'm right as rain. Good luck with the new partner, yeah?"
A pat on the big man's shoulder and Keelan turned to leave if he wasn't stopped, puffs of smoke clouds dotting his potential departure.

Grant did not understand Keelan one bit, but at least the man was friendly enough.
"Right," he said. At least one of them wasn't losing braincells over Regan's new job. "Thanks. Good luck with, well. Good luck out there," he opted with, still not totally sure what Regan and Keelan had been, if anything proper.
