The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Kat had waited a little while, a respectable amount of time. But she was a little too pressed for time to wait any longer. With no idea where or when her pairing assignment might send her away, she had been training and working extra hard. It left little time for much else, especially with still trying to spend time with her family, Van Zant and Winters. It wasn't an easy balance, and so she had written Valeria to let her know she was coming to visit.
After a grueling day of training she started the ride on horseback, a grin starting to spread on her face the closer she got. She still wasn't entirely sure about the woman's husband, especially since Lady Delaney had basically made it seem like children were a must. For someone with a thriving career in the military that would be a set-back, and it ruffled Kat. It wasn't her place, but she had plans to ask Val about it anyways.
Arriving slightly later than planned she handed off the reigns and waited to be announced. Val was one of the only friends allies she had left in Nevermere at the moment, and so they needed to talk.

Val still getting used to being a Delaney. They gave been a couple of times when she has finished work she started to make her way back to Usher due to habits, before realising that it wasn't home anymore. It will always be home though and she know that she will always be welcome back for a meal with her dad when ever she want.
It been great being with Keir and being husband and wife. Waking up next to him just feels like she was waking up to a dream. His arms around her as they cuddle up against each other. These weeks being married have been amazing, she can truly see herself grow as a person and grow in skills with Keir by herside. They will drive each other to work harder.
She got a letter from Kat asking if she can come round, she know she have questions about Keir like it was understandable why she question him, she only worry because she is her friend and want the best for her. They are allies in everything that they do together. She accepted her invitation and she told her husband that she has a friend coming round a fellow soilder she also knows he has work today so he will be busy working. So she got ready for her friend got some wine out and some wine glasses ready for her arrival.
When she arrived Val give a soft smile. "I was started to worry Kat. how was the ride?"
Grinning as she walked in, Kat’s eyes moved around, taking in her new surroundings. It was strange to think about how different they both were since first meeting. The blushing girl now a married bride, and her own journey from street trash to a soldier and a lady. Her hand moving in a dismissive wave at Val’s concern she laughed. ”No need to worry about me, I can handle myself just fine.” Was that what her sister thought before her death?
”Training was exhausting today, brighten my day with some newly wed stories!” Winking she grabbed one of the glasses, settling into a comfortable spot.

Val lead Kat into her new home and lead her to where the drinks are placed and she poured the wine into both glasses. "Well Keir is very good in bed. Overall Keir is amazing we still learning everything we can about each other and how we work as a married couple. Being Lady Delaney have brought this newfound confidence that i didn't know i have but i think that just Keir we just find ways o push each other to be stronger and bring each other best sides. He is truly something. Like for our honeymoon i thought him some some basic rope stuff for a boat it really taught me, patients. It was very cute."
Kat burst out laughing at Valeria's admission. She was certainly far from the blushing girl who had gawked at the idea of being pleasured by a man. It was nice to see, although the soldier didn't quite understand why. "Mhmm some knots huh, kinky." Winking she took a sip of her wine, mostly glad to see she was still just as excited about all this. Certainly she hadn't been as interested a few months in, but that had more to do with his husband's activities, and she just hoped Val didn't have to go through the same things she did. No one deserved that.
"When do you head back out next? Or are you shored for the time being?" Her eyebrow was raised, the polite way of asking if she was cutting back on her time at sea for other things. Things that were seemingly required of ladies in the Delaney household if the wedding speech was anything to go on.

Val smiled and winked, "well I won't be saying no to trying out new thngs in bed if he is up for it to. Val winked, she was far from the little girl who scared of talking about sex. She think know she had it and she can talk to it to Kat who she know she can honestly truthfully talk to about these things. It not as scary. it just wasn't something she talked to dad about because it her dad. there only something a woman can talk to a woman about.
When Kat asked her when she next setting sail. "There are still a few things that need to be sorted before I know when I next going out, like crew, cargo and of course set course before I even know. but Hopefully it should be soon, but that all down to the captain commender really. It going to be hard to leave Keir but I am missing the sea too much. Like we both know his Aunte want great neice and Nephew but we both understand that we will take our time and that we both love our jobs.
Kat nodded her head. "Oh he'll be fine, it's fun. Make sure your the one doing the tying, far more fun to be in control." Val was a woman now, at least that's what polite society said. Clearly she was anything but polite company though with how much she encouraged their current topic. Another woman might brush away the subject but that just wasn't the lady that Kat ever planned to be. Boring.
"Is that weird? Having your dad be the one to decide your schedule?" She certainly would have found it weird, although it was probably nice. Would it be easier to ask for time off? She assumed it was but even she knew it was inappropriate to ask for more time for your honeymoon, and the activities that went with that, of your father let alone the commander.

Val laughed, "Well I just have to show him how his deck runner does thing with my knots and being a chief petty Officer I know my knots." She give a playful wink. The week they had together on their honeymoon was full of passionate lovemaking and laughter and romance. It still is, just her and her Land boy.
When she asked if it was wried she laughed. "It is a bit, like having to remember who you talking to and when. There are times when we would have meals and I just wish he would switch work mode off for half an hour at least to have a conversation with his daughter like we used to, but I am proud of him."
Laughing with her confidence, Kat nodded her head and took a sip of her wine. For some reason she was proud, as she would be of a little sister, despite no blood relation to the girl. An odd thing she decided to embrace in the moment. "He won't know what hit him!" That was the fun part about a marriage, at least from her experience.
Kat raised her eyebrow, wondering what it might be like for a second to have an important father. To grow up with everything and anything she could want. But she had far too much to do to spend her time dreaming, never had and never would. "I'm sure that's interesting sometimes though?"

Val laughed even though they was on no blood relation she looked up to her as like a bad influence older sister. One that would be told of by parents for teaching them swear words. However, it was fun and nice to have somebody in her life who she can ask for advice and just have these sort of conversations with. A friend. "A sexy Witch. that what hit him."
"Well it can be interesting at time, seeing him work other time, it stressful because it was always mine and his dream for us to go on on trip together. However, ever since he took the roll that dream went down the drain and it won't be mat out. I still wish I can sail across the sea and work together in that sense, not as a captain commender, as a crew member, working together. Like we dreamt about since I was like five years old."
Snickering Kat nodded her head. Certainly Keir would have his hands full for the time being while they were on break. Val had been looking forward to this for a long time, she didn't need this conversation to tell her that. But it was nice to know that this whole thing hadn't changed her too much yet. "I'm sure you'll make sure he won't forget it."
The story that Val told, it wasn't something that Kat could relate to on any level. Taking a drink she tried to swallow her annoyance with others had happy dreaming childhoods when she had not. Instead she focused on how strong it made her. "Maybe someday."
Quickly moving the conversation away from things that would spoil the afternoon she finished her glass and twirled the stem between her fingers. "Well enough about you, while you were off getting married I got paired! I'm sure partially helped on by your training."

When Kat told her the news her face lit up in pure joy. "Oh my congratulation. To be fair you didn't need my training. who the unlucky devil that you are paired with?" Val asked intrigued if she knew of the guy Kat was paired with. The one thing she was always intrigued about was paired solider one thing she doesn't have to think about was being a paired.
However, despite not being paired the whole concept behind them was truly fasinating and trying to use the witches power to relise the wold that in the male was outstanding. Val's magic has always been to week to be a paired on in her eyes. As she always forcused more on her swordmanship more than anything else. One she need to start improving on.
While Val wasn't so sure the lessons had helped, Kat was pretty sure her and Faylin had been one of the main reasons she hit the ground running. Certainly why she was able to deal with people telling her what to do in training. Rules had never been her thing, but the military centered around it. Sure it made the place function extremely well, didn't make it any easier though.
"Octavius Wulfbrand, he's been in Cambria the past few years, but I'll get him whipped back into shape in no time." The Cambrian detail was known to be generally easy, even someone who had just rejoined the military knew that. But with her brother going off on a secret mission she wasn't so sure that was the case anymore.

When Kat said the name she did have to think for a moment about the name. He does sound familar but not somebody who she had much interaction with herself. She laughed softly. "Well he must be good if he had you to whip into shape. Have you managed to transform him into his wolf yet?" Kat asked. It is an important part of any paired training. Once they get that bond in place they be very powerful unit.
The whole transformation had been unlike any magic she had ever done. So much more intense than she could have imagined. But that was curses for you, always a lot to deal with. "We did. It was... strange." She felt a little bad not having other words to describe it, but a part of her wanted to keep it for herself. How her power had swelled and she had controlled a monstrous wolf.
"Almost got some nasty cuts at one point. But I'm still standing, didn't even need the other witches to step in once." Of course she had, this was Kat. And it was a major accomplishment as far as she was concerned.
