The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

It was the morning, still rather early, but the palace was alive. Servants bustled about to see to chores before the corridors filled with courtiers and royals. The king was moving through them, having retrieved the soldier of the hour (not that anyone knew of her accomplishment), and was now fetching the queen. They had a final individual to question.
A servant was sent running ahead to inform her majesty that the king was on his way to her rooms. Two of his royal guards tailed him, and she surely had two of her own at her door that would be ready to move when she did.
Cassian arrived and stopped, waiting for his wife to emerge.

Regan fell neatly into step behind Cassian, a place that felt as natural now as any. She was eager to see Fischer again; to see him confined and alone and afraid. Even if he wasn’t fearful now, he would be. Regan would be sure of it.
Nearly undetectable veins of copper burned in her eyes as they waited for the queen. The hellhound paced in her mind hungrily, waiting to be reunited with its prey.

Iliana had just been rising with the first rays of sunlight breaking the horizon, her usual time of waking when a messenger arrived to announce that they had gotten Fischer Wyndham in the night. Everything after that was set into fast forward as the queen didn't wait to get out of bed for anyone. Already halfway through pulling on her dress by the time that her own handmaiden showed up to assist her. She didn't bother with anything that was overly complicated considering it was by her own hand, but it also wasn't hard considering the heat.
Cassian wouldn't have to wait long, maybe a minute before the door was opened and she stood before him in her a red dress that was fit for Aestas weather. Green eyes bright and awake, meeting his eyes if he looked down to her before she'd dip into the appropriate greeting. Her chin tucking to her chest to show him respect while the women behind her dipped far lower towards the King. She'd step out into the hall, her two guards moving to fall behind her, beside Cassian's guards.

Cassian returned the respectful greeting upon Iliana's appearance, his eyes catching at the neckline of her dress though not a soul--not even the queen--would have noticed. As stepped into the hall beside him and they were off.
In the space between the royal bedchambers and the dungeons, multiple stories below, Cassian filled Iliana in on the details of what transpired just that morning. He recounted it differently than Regan had recounted it to him, only because he spared her unnecessary details and included his assessments as he went [details of what was said has been sent to Finnley]. As they began to descend the staircase into the dungeons he would go before her and then reach back of her hand, assisting the queen lest she take an embarrassing spill. The last facts of the matter were that the guard responsible for bringing Fischer in was accompanying them so that she might as her questions--probably the first time Iliana thought to even glance at the guards behind Cassian--and that Fischer would likely have his own side of things to tell.
The dungeon guards were ready for them. More torches that usual were lit and extra guards stood at attention, receiving their royal guests in silent. It was imperative that they question Fischer down here so that they could decide what to do next before his capture became public knowledge.
[ Fischer Wyndham, feel free to reply! The post order will not consider Regan, so simply add her in whenever you want Rigby or else whenever she is addressed. ]

Even though he was captured, his arm ached in it's splint but his spirits were high. Count Fischer was a "guest" of the Royal Family of Lorendale and he figured he had a lot of explaining to do, not that it mattered. The seeds, the literature, and his idea was a literal living and breathing. Keep his capture secret sure great, let his movement think him dead what a better way to keep the spark alive!
Ten years...five years....thirty years down the line and the world will still stand as it is, fear. War. Anti-Gifted or Gifted the animosity is deep between the two. Two coiled snakes wrapped together each thinking it is biting the other with poison but they only have bitten themselves and killing itself.
It was peaceful down in the dungeon, it was how he knew they approached. Fischer stood from the wooden stool minding his duties of respect to the arrival of King Cassian and Queen Illiana. He would bow and give his due diligence to the crown.

The information that Cassian relayed to her would make a worry line appear between her brows, her eyes flickering between where they were headed and Cassian as he spoke. Her heart sinking at the thought of @nolan, her dear family. What had happened? Hadn't he just been telling her that the Sons were the ones at fault here? And now... this made no sense. None of it made any sense. Yet she didn't relay that.
Those green eyes did move back to look at Regan Lassiter for the first time. It wasn't that she had never noticed her, but perhaps it was the first time she really acknowledge the woman. Her eyes looking at her with a sadness in them that might have been seen before she closed her eyes tightly for a moment before her chin would level to its royal position and take Cassian's hand as she descended into the dungeons with her husband and the guards. Eyes blinking a few times as she adjusted to the lower lighting in the dark place before she'd see the shadowy figure stand and Fischer himself would come into view.
In that moment, she looked him over and all she could think was how he had caused so many of those close to her so much pain. Her jaw tightened as she stared at him, in his silence even though he bowed. "Count Fischer Wyndham," she said his name with a surprisingly even tone.

Cassian did not nod his head at the count, as he might have had they interacted at a ball or in Cassian's office. No, he was a criminal, and he would receive no respect from the king.
"We are here to investigate what transpired at the Allemeade farm...and what your involvement with the Sons of the Equinox is." This was Cassian giving him a chance. He wouldn't criminalize Fischer from the start. The man had an opportunity. Perhaps he would notice Regan behind Cassian. Perhaps not.

Fischer played with the hand attached to his broken arm no longer smiling but contemplation and thought passed over his face before he gave the King and Queen what they wanted. His eyes did pass over the Witch guard, the one who brought him in, and saved his children. They wouldn't understand but Fischer wasn't going to leave his children orphaned in a world that would soon be choked by the likes of the Gifted scum.
"Mother always preached honesty, so you'll have it my leige," his blue eyes settled on the pair, King and Queen, "I along with Dukes Alaric and Nolan, enacted a plan to take in motion the civil war between Gifted and Non-Gifted...it's pretty clear where I sit on the topic of course. I also accept my fate your majesty, I haven't a reason for my actions but after so much substantial loss of my own family...I leaned on revenge."

To say Iliana was stunned was an understatement. Completely at a loss for the fact he seemed to just lay it out in the table and claim blame (along with Alaric and Nolan) for the movement. “How many are a part of this Sons of Equinox that you claim to have helped create?”

Fischer not use to the scruff on his neck scratched his neck as he replied, again honestly, "My Queen earnestly maybe the hundreds? Noble's, commoners, Duke's and Marshal's alike. Oh the influx after the courthouse debacle was staggering. Those soley close to the cause that I had collected were Alaric years ago when it was just a time to vent about the transgressions a safe space, Nolan shortly after the Eldouir exodus, though he came to me," he clicked his tongue and twirled the long hairs on his chin between long slender fingers, "Though in my opinion our dear dead Duke Nolan was aiming for other things other than my goals. You'll have to do a great deal of damage control in the North, I believe that's where my strongest support yields....sorry...rambling on. I'm sure you'll get all you need from the leech that is Honora Allemeade so save a surprise or two for you."

Cassian wasn't shocked by how Fischer laid this out. He was cornered and had no other place to go. He was an activist, a believer in his cause. So, in an effort to learn more.
"Teach us exactly what it is that your followers think. Tell us what they want and why." He hoped Iliana trusted what she heard. Cassian had reservations about gifteds, yes, but only because he knew they were volatile because of the collars that had been put on them, and the persecution they had undergone for decades before the collars. If anything, this group, this mentality in Lorendale, was simply a more traditional way of thinking. Once upon a time the gifteds had had to hide. They had had to conceal their identities. It was a shame, but it was the truth. Now it was also the truth that under the pressure set on them many gifteds were choosing violence. If Iliana and Cassian were out to make Lorendale the best it could be, then they had to get to the bottom of this. They had to try to appease their people.

"We believe that as long as Gifteds exist your Majesty that it will only continue the decline and eradication of good pure blood," even given his current situation Fischer was clearly passionate about his cause, he would talk all day about it, "So, to preserve our future my leige we've sought to beat them to it. We don't believe in collars, we don't want collars and we don't want laws. I want them gone and I want the virus they carry gone, my ventures into the Gifted trait have took me to searching outside conventional means of course. Magical means buuuut....," with his good arm he gestured to the then and now, "Here we are. It was to slow asking for help so I resulted to my more practical approach..."

Iliana was almost horrified by his words. By how… almost happy he was to explain it all. Eagerly handing over the information that they royals asked him for. But why? Why would he spill all of this so easily when it was horrific things he was admitting to. That he was condemning Nolan and Alaric to!
Then Cassian’s question came and her head turned to look at him before she could help herself. A moment of pained understand on her face before she focused back on the Wyndham. How was this the brother to someone she had sought advise from at one point? Who she considered a friend…
“And you would seek to continue killing gifteds if given the opportunity?”

Fischer looked at the Queen, his silence perhaps was answer enough and his smile seemed to fade, "Unfortunately your Majesty the answer is yes. I mean unless you could ship them off to some distant land never to return...I don't ever see a compromise between us and them, not now."
