The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Kat didn't want to waste another second on the worst Morrigan she had met thus far. And she had thought that Keelan was bad, apparently the joke was on her. Because this one was just as hot-headed as she was, not a great combination when mixed with the fact that she couldn't hold her liquor.
"You are very much like my sister, she ended up dead and torn to shreds, watch out Lady Morrigan, caring too much is a dangerous game." Of course here she was jumping into the fight to defend a place that had never defended her.
But she certainly didn't care what this woman thought of her, not for one second. Someone who could barely hold down whiskey and decided to fight every battle she could? It was foolish and beneath Kat, but she'd always snap right back. "We are different in that way, I've never pretended to be something I'm not. I wasn't raised to be a courtier, but I know better to throw beer at someone I know nothing about." Prior to rejoining the military Kat would have pulled out her knives, shown the woman what it mean to mess with a Van Zant. But she valued her career, and wasn't about to lose it for someone not worth the time of day.

She raised an eyebrow. "Is that a threat? Who are you to threaten me?" She laughed, shaking her head. "Please enlighten me, how am I pretending to be something I'm not?" She was regretting the way she handled things, but didn't feel like backing down now. She was genuinely confused by the remark that she was pretending to be something she was not. She was a lady, she wasn't pretending, and she was hot-headed, not just forcing herself to be mad at this individual. Kat did have a point though. "For what it's worth, you're right. I do know nothing about you. But you messed with the Morrigans, and that's enough for me."
"Darling if I was threatening you there would be metal involved not some silly words that mean nothing." Gunne was not like her brother that was for sure. It was a real shame, especially with common enemies and allies, that the woman had decided to squander things. But Kat wasn't one to offer help twice especially when all she got was beer thrown at her. The shots were good, but certainly not enough.
Tilting her head Kat's smile was sharp, and she was not about to let a Morrigan walk all over her. "You are a courtier no? Your temper and actions are unbecoming of such a person in court. Out drinking and throwing or sloshing drinks all over folks? One might think you are lying to yourself with such destructive tendencies." It was spoken with experience, and having seen others do the same. Maybe this woman would learn and maybe she wouldn't Kat didn't much care but certainly planned to not forget it.
"Lady Morrigan you really out to check with the rest of your family on that matter. Maybe Keelan can illuminate you some, I'm certainly not going to try and explain things to a wasted woman." Turning on her heel Kat would stalk away unless stopped, a little more confidence in herself and her current path after seeing such pitiful things.

As she watched Kat walk away, Gunne remained at the table to think the conversation over. She was still angry. The woman had made some fair points, but also was in no position at all to judge her, giving the most controversial advice to date. Saying she shouldn't use people as an excuse not to do something, but at the same time reproaching her for being drunk as a courtier. Throwing the beer hadn't been a smart move, but at the same time she knew the commoners around her wouldn't see her at the palace much. With a little sigh she eventually got up, starting to make her way home, which took twice as long with the liquor in her system.
