The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

“Together,” Honora echoed resolutely. “I just need you to trust me.” She watched Remiel for a long moment, weighing her options. She’d come in here unsure of how she was going to approach Remiel. He had come to arrest her, crossed a bridge that she thought was too far to come back from. But it was clear to her now that they had no choice but to put it behind them. To try for a second chance. For the Allemeades had nothing if not one another.
“There’s something you should know,” Honora started, voice even and commanding, “But when I tell you, I need you to hear it and then put it behind you without judgment. We don’t have the time or luxury to quarrel over what’s been done. Do you understand?”
Honora’s expression made clear that she’d accept nothing else but a yes.

Remiel relaxed for just a moment...just a single moment....he saw his sister's look and crossing his arms over his chest he nodded heavily, "Yes, I understand," and while he would put it behind him whatever she said he wouldn't forget it. His heart beat picked up as he waited.

Honora paused one moment more, giving herself one last time to go back on her decision to speak. Perhaps she could keep the truth from Remiel, but his finding it out on his own would be ten times worse. Remiel had his own sins, she had hers—it was better they both knew so they could defend one another when the time came.
At least, that’s how Honora hoped Reimel would see things. It was a gamble she was going to have to take.
“In the days after visiting Marquis Paccoretti, I came across Hiram Eldouir in the woods outside Allemeade Keep.” Her voice was a hushed whisper, as if the walls themselves were listening, “At first he meant to kill me, but in the end, he agreed to train me. To make me stronger—and he did.” Remiel knew what that entailed, she was sure, so she spared him the specifics. “That’s why he was at the farm when the Sons attacked. He was there for me.”
Honora stopped, letting the words sink in, waiting with held breath for whatever might come.

His shoulders went slack, his bottom jaw dropped leaving his mouth slighlty agape, and his crossed arms fell at his side where for a moment his hands tensed up into little balls. His mouth closed and his teeth began to grit as he processed his sister's words.
Finally, "He was there for you? Is that why you attacked me in the clearing? Made me see those..." he fumbled to say it as a dead Bryce played in his mind, "...those things, because you were protecting him?"

“I was protecting us all.” Honora replied without hesitation, an irritation being unearthed from the spot where it had been buried, “You challenged him by making the first move, and there was no duel with Hiram that you were going to win. It would have been suicide.”
Because she’d seen it; felt what Hiram was capable of. Lived it through his memories, enough to understand that Remiel was not one who could defeat him.

"Appreciate the vote in confidence Honora," was his only reply as he quickly added, "but as you said, I'm putting what you just said behind me with no judgement. I went to the man myself for the exact same purpose and I don't want to be a hypocrite, but I won't have any part of anything with him or that family. Do what you want but I urge you to not seek that path again," defeat reached his shoulders as they went slack, rubbing the bridge of his nose, "but you will do what you want, I'll have to trust you."

Honora considered him for a moment. She hadn’t yet decided quite what to make of Remiel. She’d been so ready to be angry with him, to blame him for coming to arrest her in the first place. But those words were so far away now she couldn’t even remember what it was he was going to say. Things weren’t as simple as they used to be. There was no moral high ground to claim. Both of them had betrayed the other’s trust, and now there was only one thing to do: move forward.
“Thank you, Remi.” She said finally, tucking her hands in front of her. “Now…what is it we’re going to do about the Keep?”
It wasn’t accusatory. They both knew what had happened—but as with everything else, all that mattered was what happened next.

"I don't know," he answered truthfully passing a free hand through his hair pushing it back behind his ears, "Until they decide what to do with us what's the point of looking that far in the future? If we come out of this free though I want to go back and rebuild, what to rebuild I haven't got a clue but I want it to be just ours."
He thought again about what he had discussed with the Queen, a school or a safe haven for Gifteds, a place to learn who or what a Gifted was. How could he grantee their safety though? He couldn't even protect his own family, how could he protect other scared and lost Gifteds? What would be the point when they would be targets to intolerant Gifted bigots?

“Just ours.”
Honora thought of Jasiel’s orphanage; the children in his care that ran about, using their gifts without fear. The warmth she’d felt then rekindled in her. It brought a light to her eyes that had been missing for too long. That was the kind of future they could help create, but it was one only attainable far from the clutches of Fischer Wyndham and his kind and the meddling of those who didn’t—could never—understand them.

Remiel nodded in agreement, just theirs, and he rushed forward to hug Honora. It was a tight brotherly embrace that was just as much for him as it was for Honora.
"Whatever happens...no matter what I promise, swear, I'm picking this small family over everything," he pulled back just enough so she could see the serious look in his eyes, "I love you, and I'm sorry."

Honora hugged him back, squeezing him just as tight. Remiel had transgressed, there was no doubt, but so had she. Both of them had put the other at risk in their own ways. Who was she to say whose sins were worthy of condemnation?
“I am too,” Honora responded weakly, the exhaustion of the recent days pushing in from all sides. She raised her hand to her brother’s cheek, taking some of his sorrow with her to leave calm in its place. For a moment, she just gazed at him as if committing every detail of his face to memory. then, she spoke.
“You should get some rest,” She said with a sisterly smile, patting his cheek twice before dropping her hand, “You look like you could use it.”

He figured she had done something with her gift as his heart just a less, he felt more at peace knowing she didn't hate him. He gave a waneful smile and nodded, "Yeah... yeah I'll try, I might go and see if I can something to help me sleep," though he was surely afraid to sleep, afraid of seeing Luna in his dreams as she was when he carried her to her final resting place or Bryce as Honora had projected him to see, "You do the same...."
With great hesitation he stepped away to leave grabbing the for the door be paused, "I'll be right down the hall if...of you need me. Goodnight."
