The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
With the bow from Akagi in her hands she quickly made her way to her uncle's. She had no plans to be late, not only because she didn't want to disappoint him, although that was reason enough. But these lessons were going to make her the best enchantress she could be. The bow was just going to have to come with her since there would be no time to stop home. She was rarely there unless she was sleeping anyways, so it seemed a silly place to keep something so important.
And she had her notes from the homework for last time she had taken upon herself to get up to speed. Because it was important for her that this went right. When they were working she occasionally forgot that her father was missing. A nice change of pace from the usual.
Knocking on the door to her Uncle Evander's study she rocked back and forth between the balls of her feet and her heels. "It's me Uncle Vander." Clutching the crossbow close to her chest with the few bolts she let her mind wander while she waited. Certainly the last thing she planned to do was barge in, because while she was a little less scared of her uncle than she had been as a child, he was still someone who's rules she planned to follow for to a t.
Evander was tinkering. Not working on any project in particular, but aimlessly experimenting as a way to quiet is mind. Stillness only made his mind revert to solving whatever problem it was Evander had seized upon. So, instead of relaxing as others did, Evander tinkered.
The knock came, and the voice that followed was familiar. Evander, a creature who enjoyed being alone above all else, had started to rather enjoy Calathe’s company—in his own way. She was her father’s daughter, which brought him some degree of comfort in Cyrus’s absence.
“Enter.” Evander would finish what he was doing before looking up. Seeing what Calanthe had in her arms, he’d raise an eyebrow, indicating a question he need not vocalize.
Hearing her uncle, her smile only got a little bigger. She always enjoyed these afternoons, especially when she got so wrapped up that time seemed to slip and still all at once. So awkwardly opening to door as to not wildly brandish the crossbow, Calanthe made her way in finding him tinkering away as usual.
It was nice to have a constant this summer, and Evander had done just that. Knowing his questioning look she smiled at the weapon, putting it down with the bolts on one of the tables. "I was in the library and Prince Akagi started up a conversation." Well mainly because she had his book but that was besides the point.
"He wanted to show me this in his workshop, which was amazing by the way." So many things she would have loved to experiment with, but the crossbow would suffice for now.
Evander’s eyebrows reached a new height as he lay down the tools in his hands. Prince Akagi—a figure who had become qutie interesting to Evander as of late. He had been counted an ally when Cyrus was still among them. At the time, Evander hadn’t questioned it. He trusted Cyrus’s judgement then. But now…Cyrus was gone. What motivation did they have to keep those ties strong? What could Akagi offer them that they did not have for themselves?
“Is there anything specific he’s working on?” Anything that might cause them trouble later?
Calanthe loved to talk about enchantments. Hers, those she admired, the concept of them. No topic was off the table, especially since her uncle had asked to her to share everything she observed. "He was letting me help! Something for the defense of Arynn Frey, stone soldiers that could link to peacekeepers or be used for observation of the borders." She thought it was fascinating work, and that didn't even touch on the weapon she had.
"His whole workshop was enchanted, needed one to even get in!" That had been amazingly cool, ring, wand and all. And it had certainly been a lot flashier than her uncles. Although she thought she would make her place more like Evanders, getting way ahead of herself in that sense.
