It was still a bit strange, really. It'd been a few days, and as he promised, Thomas had come back each night to stay with her. They'd both been busy, but home had taken on a whole new meaning. No longer did she stand to stand in the kitchen with her hip against the table, looking around at the empty house and wondering what to do before bed. Even if he was a little late, or she was stuck in the greenhouse a little longer than expected, just knowing that they would both be there in bed by nightfall was all she needed.
And waking up in his arms every morning felt like paradise. Even this morning, when her nerves were slightly on edge, she at least had him for comfort. "I regret making these plans," she grumbled shortly after opening her eyes, happy that he hadn't gotten up and out of bed before her. If they were to meet her parents for breakfast then they had to get up early. A carriage would be arriving soon to transport them across the city, but Temperance had never been much of an early riser. "Wasn't this your idea? Bad call, on your part, Thomas," she cuddled up closer to him for another moment or two, unwilling to let go of the comfort just yet. But birds were beginning to make themselves known outside, chirping as colors of orange peaked out from behind the clouds she could see out the window, so she knew she needed to get out of bed. "Next day we take off, we're sleeping in," she said as she forced herself to push away from him and out from under the blankets.
A routine had quickly emerged between the two, though it wasn't surprising that that, too, had been natural. Temperance did as she usually did, first washing her face, then cleaning her teeth, then applying her lotion and hair oils, before finally changing clothes. They danced around one another with ease as they prepared themselves for the morning, but this morning was a tad bit different than their last few. She had to dress a bit nicer than usual, and her mother always complained about her wearing dark dresses, so instead she opted for white chemise with a light blue, embroidered overdress. As she tied the front up, she turned in the mirror of her vanity once. She'd only worn the dress once or twice, so it still looked new, but it was odd even to Temperance to see herself in such a light color.
She went to her bookshelf and picked through the ribbons Thomas had bought her and picked up the white one, tying it around her hair in the back for somewhat of a loose ponytail, though a few of the shorter strands from the front escaped quickly and hung alongside her face. "I'm done, Thomas," she called, reaching back into her wardrobe to pull out a pair of simple, grey shoes that would barely be seen anyway. "Are you nearly ready? The carriage should be here soon."
