The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
As soon as Gannon acknowledged the pain she smiled her hand encasing his and lips on the finger she had so kindly broken. "I would hope so or you would be far more breakable than advertised."
Her lips slipped over his finger as her gift healed the break she had caused. Looking up at the merchant she winked. Oriana had shown her gift, and rather than feel embarrassed or nervous she only felt emboldened. Despite the fact she had broken his finger he had barely flinched.

Gannon was used to pain, though that didn't mean he liked it very much. He might've been annoyed had he not bid her to show her gift, and show she did. He raised an eyebrow, smiling as he felt the bone knit. Interesting.
"Breaking and mending bones?" he asked. "Or something else?" It could be anything, really. It wasn't as if being born Gifted came with instructions on how far one could push their abilities.
Pulling away she took a step back not entirely sure where she went from there. Gannon was the first person she had shown, and after hiding for over five years that wasn't a small thing. Not to her.
"Well I suppose I could just say it's a coin trick." Raising an eyebrow she wasn't ready to show her hand completely. She trusted her fellow gifteds more than most, but that only got the merchant so far.

"I mean you could," granted Gannon, smiling. "But at least I had a coin involved."
He held his hand up, stretching it and testing the finger. Mended! "Very impressive, Oriana," he said. "I suppose I owe you a slightly more impressive sight in return, then."
He folded his arms, thinking for a moment. His expression lightened up with a smile and he looked over at her, gesturing for her to take a seat. "I think I have the perfect audition," he said, moving behind his desk.
Gannon activated his gift and chuckled to himself as he went about his work, finding his own sense of humor extremely entertaining. He then returned to his position behind the desk in his new suit, brushing it down here and there. He looked up and let go, allowing time to flow again.
It would be as if Gannon simply phased into his new outfit instantaneously, before Oriana's eyes. With a lot of practice, he was standing in nigh the same spot--the only things different his clothing and the smug look on his face.
Maybe he'd had a coin involved, but Oriana was sure there was something else there. Call it a woman's intuition, or maybe just the fact that it seemed a little too on the nose for a merchant. Was that even allowed for someone who traded with coin? Totally not the point.
But she moved into her seat all the same, and when she looked up she couldn't help but laugh. "Well, that's a new development." It was interesting, and not entirely surprising coming from Gannon.
Crossing her arm she titled her head, smile on her face. "Suppose that it isn't just as simple as you getting whatever you want?" That would be nice, and helpful.

Gannon smoothed the fabric down some more, laughing a little. "A little bit," he said. "But no, it's not quite that simple, I'm afraid. Otherwise I wouldn't have been so happy to find an expert seamstress," he said, grinning at her.
"So how does it fit?" he asked, looking up at her and smiling. "Do I look professional, now?"
Standing up from her chair she made her way over to Gannon again. "Well you have to test the fit." Her hands reached to pull on the sleeves, at the ends of it, all the while the gears turning in her head.
"Quite the gentleman if I do say so myself." Of course looks weren't everything, but she would be out of a job if they were worth nothing.

"So," Gannon began, smiling a little as she adjusted the suit on him.
Since he knew very well she didn't come merely to break his finger and give him a suit, he was waiting to find out why she'd wanted to confirm he knew her secret, much as he had (sort of) given her his own.
"I have a bit of a conundrum on my hands." Satisfied with her work she smoothed the suit down once before moving back to the seat that had been previously offered to her.
Flicking invisible lint off her dress she frowned. "Did you join the list?" There was just about one list that she could be talking about at this point.
And he was just about the only one she knew to ask.

Gannon sat down with her, waiting to hear whatever it was that had rattled her cage. She seemed to be rather tough, so he was even more curious.
"Absolutely not," said Gannon, frank. "I cannot see what good it would do me or my health, what with the state of the kingdom."
Though really it wouldn't matter, given he could very quickly fix the situation of anyone knowing. A piece of paper would just be harder to prove. Besides, showing off his Gift to a normal person? They wouldn't comprehend it.
Oriana very much agreed with the merchant on the matter of registration. Not only was it beneath her, it was useless to her and if anything harmful. She had left her name behind to avoid the trouble, and here she was diving back in.
There was just one thing that made her wonder though. "What if someone found out. Would you talk about your coin gift?" Lie. Would it be a good idea to lie. How could they tell? They weren't gifted.
Have to do something. She could kill Amien easily, but of course he was also a noble, and that meant there would be an investigation. Because commoner women could get attacked for being a gifted and no one would say boo but a nobleman missing for a few hours would have panties in a twist.
"What if they're someone with power. That's word would always mean more than mine?" A suspected gifted, hiding, in the worst time and place possible.

That squirreled things up a bit.
"Well, supposing that," said Gannon, "I personally would still require proof. But I guess the national sentiment is against that, so it might do someone no good," he said. "So that a power discrepancy in someone and my word."
Yes, that would be a bad situation to be in.
"I'd probably just hope something woefully unfortunate came to pass in a very public setting, such that I would not be the only suspect," he said.
Oriana bit the inside of her lip as the merchant spoke. It was a tricky situation, one she would have preferred not to be in. But unfortunately she couldn't turn back time like that. Breaking things was what she was good at, maybe it was time to do just that with the biggest problem in her life.
"Mhmmm if only I had a more subtle gift." It was hard to miss a broken neck, and those didn't just happen. And she was far too inexperienced in her gift to think about creative ways to make it less obvious. "Suppose there are always other kingdoms." Other places to run too since that's all she had done.
