The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Octavius eyes shined with the laughter that he kept from spilling out of his mouth. It was a core memory, to be sure.
"Never." He echoed her word choice, bobbing his head up and down, pronouncing judgment. Which had a lot of implications of its own. That he would never forget. That their time together was etched into his memory for as long as he lived, regardless of what became of them.
She peeked up at him, a slight squint to her eyes like she could hear the laughter that he was keeping quiet. But it was still ridiculously fond and her lips twitched.
"Good, cause you're still stuck with me." She'd told him that once, forever ago and she was saying it again. It might've been opening for something else if she was actually brave enough to test those waters.

Octavius heard the words for what they were: an echo of a memory. But the truth of the matter was, he hadn’t been giving any thought to this—to them—and while she had turned the knob that would make opening the door to having that conversation very fluid, he didn’t try. Not right now. Not today.
“We should catch up sometime. I’ve a witch pair I’d like for you to meet.” He knew what it would probably sound like to her, and he was okay with that. For right now.
Oh, right. He was paired now. Which, that didn't have to mean anything. It could, or it couldn't. Not like it was really her business anymore even though-
"You mean to say they found someone who could keep up with you?" She teased him, nose wrinkling. "But, yes, I'd like to meet your witch pair."

Octavius grinned at her question and gave her a shrug. Only because he didn’t want to get into it. He didn’t want to confess that his witch was better at most everything than him. He might as well have been her lackey…
“Good. Let’s make it happen.” He said with a decisive nod, still trying to make his exit. “See ya around?”

Octavius’ gaze moved to her thumb, and he too didn’t feel the awkwardness she didn’t feel. Not at all. He grinned and nodded his head before stepping in a direction that would take him away. Only once his back was to her would he grimace. Later that night, he’d be releasing this exchange over and over in his head…
