The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Scout was very aware that she hadn't 'won' this battle yet. Astor would have to prove himself worthy of marrying her, and she was nervous about that. She knew he was a great man, but would the elders also realise this? If she had to, she would tell them about every little thing Astor had ever done for her, but she just hoped seeing and meeting him would already change their minds about their "every Porter man is a bad man"-idea. The young woman looked over at her grandmother, wondering what was going on inside that head of hers. She was aware that it wasn't as calm and quiet as it seemed. Helena was always very straight to the point and didn't waste time on unnecessary chit-chat, while Tybalt spend more time talking in general.
She returned her gaze to her uncle when he spoke his last sentences. She nodded slightly, although she told herself that she wouldn't let her hopes be crushed either. In an ideal situation, they'd end up liking Astor. Helena mentioned Athena and Hannibal. Somehow that felt like a good thing. If it was a definite no, she wouldn't feel the need to inform them of the situation. "They do", she said in reply.
The young woman put her hands together and cleared her throat. "That's all I had for you today", she spoke. "I won't take up any more of your time, unless there's something else you want to say?" She raised an eyebrow and shifted her gaze between her family members.
Arynnite armor: The armor have two states: active and inactive. When inactive, they look like little more than ornate metal bracers, easily ignored. When triggered, the armor covers Tybalt and serves as an exoskeleton. It will protect its wearer from physical damage and is practically indestructible.
The armor has a certain "preprogrammed" purpose which is to protect its host. To do so, it reacts to heightened emotional states such as fear and anger, at which point the armor will trigger regardless of whether or not Tybalt wants it to or even if he's immediately aware of the threat. It has some degree of awareness and sentience although very basic and one which struggles to differentiate between enemies and friends. Whilst not actually in possession of a will, the armor can guide or direct its host in a specific action, much like a reflex.
The armor needs to be "fed" as Tybalt has discovered meaning that he must hold and absorb through touch certain metals such as steel, copper, iron and tin, a process which takes a few minutes. Without which, the armor will begin to weaken and become less effective until no longer able to manifest.
Perhaps its greatest weakness is that if being consistently bashed or beaten, it would begin to repair itself by using parts of the armor from elsewhere. For instance, if the wearer is being consistently hit in the chest, the armor will begin to pool away from other parts of their body such as the feet and hands, leaving them vulnerable.

Tybalt was about done here. Not in a bad way but much like his mother, he felt that there was nothing more to be said or added that would benefit any of them. As such, he merely nodded in agreement. He tried as hard as he could not to write Astor off entirely within his own mind but it had to be said that there was a lot about this that he didn't much like. For the time being though, he would give his niece the benefit of the doubt.
He smiled softly, chasing away any hints of disagreement that might have lingered and replacing them with a genuine warmth that he preferred when it came to family dealings. "You're never wasting our time." The man assured her. He glanced outside towards where his horse was waiting. "Are you heading right back to the palace? If you are, I'd be more than happy to accompany you back there."

Helena would remain relatively quiet. There was nothing much to discuss.
Although the elder would most certainly be calling in a few favors when it came to trying to find out a bit more about the Porter family, particularly Astor. She didn't want to welcome trouble in to their household because once the ring was on, she knew that it would be neigh on impossible to get him out. The elder waited for Scout's reply, she was welcome to stay of course but something told her that duty would likely call the woman back to the palace and the queen.

Overall, Scout was pleased with how the conversation had went. She had expected the initial opposition to the idea but she was content that they had reached an agreement. She'd write a letter to Astor, formally inviting him, once she was back at the palace and positioned behind her desk. With that goal in mind she nodded when her uncle asked if she was headed back to the palace. "You know I love your company", she said with a smile. She looked over at her grandmother, bowing slightly. "Thank you for meeting with me, enjoy the rest of your day. If work doesn't keep me, I'll be back later tonight."
The woman then turned to Tybalt, checking to see if he was ready before starting to leave the room, making her way outside to mount her horse.
