The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Magda’s eyes met Kaalim’s. She’d not held his gaze so long since she’d become Rian’s wife. The old warmth of affection was still there, for she did have affection for Kaalim. Though circumstances had changed, that had not.
“And I suppose I have you to thank for that match,” Magda said with a slight, surprisingly soft smile. “So…thank you.”

Kaalim smiled and it looked foreign, it wasn't a common thing to have something to smile about since the loss of Ra'ead but there it was. It was the boasting from Magda and how it touched an old pride: something he had done right, something that hadn't failed.
"You are welcome, I assume the sting has worn off on Rian's end? I haven't heard any complaints," Kaalim cracked a joke.

A spark lit in Magda’s eyes as her smile widened. There was uncharacteristic warmth in her features, one that she wouldn’t recognize if there was a mirror held before her. Rian was the cause.
“I love him, Kaalim.” She said, hesitantly dropping the truth between them that she’d dared not acknowledge even to Rian himself, “Maybe it’s too much to hope for that the sentiment be returned, but regardless…I do.”

"In time Magda, not that I know my brothers heart, but in time or perhaps he does already," Kaalim shrugged, "Men in Coheed suffer silently or not at all from showing our souls to people....Rian has lost a lot..been through even more that I don't know to boot," he felt impossibly honored to be the ear bent by Magda and this shed any paranoia that Magda was against him.
"Just be good to each other and if he doesn't feel the same as you do now, in time he will. What's not to love about you right?"

Magda smiled. It was bright and pure--a glimpse of the girl she might have been had fate not twisted her into something dark and dangerous. In that moment, she looked more beautiful than she ever had, or was likely to ever look again.
But before long, it was gone. The moment was replaced by something else; a dark and churning cloud on the distant horizon in her eyes.
"I won't let them take him from me, Kaalim," Magda said softly. "If they send me back to Nevermere--" She bit her tongue at the thought.

"Why would they have you return to Nevermere?" Kaalim asked head titled in genuine curiosity, "you belong here. With all of us. The next time they think they can just take someone from us...." he paused and held his own tongue, "Rian won't allow it surely....what has Rian shared with you about our visit to Cambria?"

Magda did belong there, and that was the problem in a nutshell. But Magda for now only responded with a shrug. It didn’t do any good to speculate now. As things were, Magda didn’t know what Rian could do, even if he wanted to. But that had to change. They had to be ready.
“He did.” Magda said, content to move on to other business, “I remain unconvinced the Priestess can be trusted. But…” Magda made a sour face, “I suppose our list of allies is thin.”
She thought for a moment before saying: “Tell me about Willa Wren.”

Kaalim let out an exhausting chuckle leaving the previous conversation alone, for therl time being, "Willa Wren of Cambria and Coheed," he sighed, "As a warrior or as someone with honor I'd trust her like I would trust my brothers... she's different..my Father and my brothers marched on Cambria during the great invasions," much to his out of place rebuttal that earned him a hard smack from his Father in the process, "and from them we took their magic item, the item is what gives the women of Cambria their extra strength," he showed Magda the runes on his wrists, "When I became Chief of Bantu I made my first mistake at leadership...I gave the item back to Wren. I did it for two reasons: Wren's different and when she's set on something she will do whatever to achieve her result, I didn't need a brawl. Second, I've sought to repair the relationship between Coheed and Cambria for years and I thought it would garnish favor," another short exhausted yet dry laugh escaped Kaalim, "She's refused at every turn to not play ball with me, with Isolde either. She's disrespectful and as stubborn as a mule."

Magda grinned. Disrespectful and stubborn as a mule. There were times when she would have described Rian in exactly the same way. She thought for a moment to pry into Rian and Wren’s history. It seemed there was some history there, though Magda wasn’t quite sure what all that entailed. But the information Kaalim had to offer was far more important than any personal points of indulgence.
“I should like to meet her. She could be useful on the road ahead.”

"I will talk to her or you can," Kaalim didn't know who would be best for the task when it came to Wren, "I must be going though Magda, if my brother or you need my services I'll be around..."
With his large hands he took Magda's and bending down brought them to meet his lips where left just a small kiss on both her hands, "..don't either of you hesitate to grab me."
And with that the large Coheedain bowed his head in respect and left.
