The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Victory was theirs: sick, twisted victory that it was.
They took the long way home; covering their tracks and destroying the evidence. Anything that remained from their little escapade—including the supplies used to make the banner—was rotted into nothingness and reborn into something new. When they returned home, Tallis scrubbed herself clean, bouncing back into the main room with wet curls and a broad smile. She’d light the fire, stacking it with wood until the house was warm as a kiln.
Tallis poured herself a sizable glass of whiskey, singing a song her father used to mumble when at work in the barns. Her voice was far sweeter than Magnus’s had been, but it was his song that still lingered in her mind.

Getting caught up in his twins emotions was just as easy as breathing for Cezar. He had become attached, making her satisfied had been a goal for so long that the lines blurred so easy. So his smile matched hers as he moved to sit by the fire that she had set. Destruction and rebirth, it was the way for Lorendale.
"What's that song?" Taking a sip of his whiskey it was not as tall of a drink as Tallis had, but after they day he needed something. Death had never been something he enjoyed, even when it was a means the a better end.

Tallis turned to Cezar, watching him as he took a place by the fire. Her smile fell slightly and her eyes softened. Cezar was a more contemplative creature than she was. Tallis’s heart was hardened in a way that his was not. Death lived in every inch of her body, and so she was unbothered when she had to visit it on others. Cezar felt things more deeply, and she loved him all the more for it. But it made things difficult, no doubt about it.
She went over to the settee where he sat and took up a place next to him. Tallis brought her bare feet up and leaned against the armrest, knees tucked up to her chest as she watched him.
“Father used to sing it to the cattle before slaughter,” Tallis answered softly, “He said it calmed them. Made them feel no pain.” It was likely Magnus’s gift that was to thank for that, but the song had a role to play. Tallis continued to sing, gazing at Cezar
“So when I’m buried in the ground, And the frost melts into spring, Let violets grow upon my grave, And you this song forever sing.”
His eyebrows shot up at first at the mention of singing before slaughter. There was more than a slight sense of irony there, of course they had already lead the cow to slaughter. But the sentiment was still there he supposed. So instead of thinking about it he just listened, like he had been for the past few years. Listen, and learn as much as he could about the family he only knew through Tallis.
When she was done Cezar took a sip of his drink, contemplating. "Well it's fitting, although we've got the timing off a little on it." Smiling at his twin he wondered if it was truly something that helped. Or maybe it just help assuage guilt. "Unless you are already preparing for the next?"

Tallis smiled—a broad, incendiary grin that would be enough to make the boards creak on their own.
“I’d hate to kill our momentum right out of the gate,” She chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. Tallis tossed back a good bit of her drink before flipping around and laying her head in Cezar’s lap. She looked up at him, smirking like the cat that swallowed the canary.
“I’ve met a person of interest. Someone who might be useful."
There had been a time that Cezar would have been uncomfortable in the way they were now sitting. He had at one time seen her as the woman he would marry and have children with, something that he wasn't sure his sister had ever considered for a minute.
But now he just took a sip of his drink before setting it down and stroking her arm in thought. "Don't leave me hanging then." Smiling, Cezar was sure that whatever she had drummed up would be interesting. Tallis didn't half-ass things, whatever nugget of information she had would be interesting if not helpful for their cause.

Tallis looked happier than she had in years. Her severity has been softened by girlish glee that lit her eyes and colored her cheeks. Things were changing. Tallis’s life had been spent living in the shadows, waiting for her moment to step into the light. Now, that moment had come, and best of all she could walk onto the stage of history with Cezar at her side.
“Gannon Albrecht.” Tallis said with a theatrically ominous tone. “I went to go see him about his annoying little business ventures in the south. He’s willing to back off, but that was hardly the most interesting thing to come out of our meeting.” She grinned like a kid on Christmas.
“He’s gifted. Hidden, and with a few more tricks up his sleeve than I think I’ve seen. I’d like to bring him here. See what you make of him.”

Cezar's nose wrinkled at the mans name. Albretch. A pain in the ass in the shipping business, and apparently only a growing one. One that his twin deemed worthy of a visit, although he didn't think this was a similar one to the marquis they had just left. Unfortunate, it would have sent a clear message to those in shipping. "Hmmm..."
Trailing off he picked up his glass again. "Whatever you think sister." Swirling his glass and setting it down, Cezar put his hand back on her shoulder. "Remiel Allemeade came to my office for some supplies, right when you left. He's angry enough." It's all he would say because surely it was clear. Man was a ticking bomb and that always was a great idea for a revolution.

An Allemeade. Not the Allemeade, but still of interest. Her eyebrows raised, the scheming wheels already starting to spin behind her eyes. A smile curled at the corners of her mouth.
“Interesting.” Tallis hummed, considering this new bit of information before asking, “What does he want the supplies for?”
"Rebuild his home." Taking another sip of his drink he tried to remember the man's exact words. "He said he was done with 'them', of those afraid and those he had served." And maybe he wasn't a rook or a bishop, but a pawn could be just as useful in the right environment.
But he would leave that to Tallis, the one who had a far greater vision. The one with all the answers to how the Scorza family would show Lorendale what true power was.

Tallis made a ‘hmm’ sound, gazing up at the ceiling thoughtfully as she lay in Cezar’s lap. Rebuilding home. That’s all that they really wanted, wasn’t it? The Allemeades, the Scorzas—and, she hoped, the Eldouirs. Surely they’d see the benefit in pursuing that goal together.
That is, so long as it benefited Tallis and her brother. An alliance of convenience, as always.
“Perhaps it’s time we paid the Allemeades a more official visit…” Tallis mused, looking up at Ceazar with an inquisitive expression.
Nodding along, Cezar looked down at his sister, slightly proud of his contribution to the cause. Usually he was just there to assist and bring in the money. Maybe she was rubbing off on him a little bit.
"I think that sounds like a splendid idea." He wasn't sure about the other two blondes and their thoughts, but surely it had to be similar. And if it wasn't, anyone who liked to kiss the boots of their oppressors wasn't worth keeping around. Something his twin could deal with easily.

Tallis’s grin lit her eyes. To be a Scorza was to have a grand secret perched on the edge of your tongue; one that you could never tell but that always struggled to break free. For years Tallis had kept it confined, in all the excruciating frustration, but now it was time to set it free. Little by little, bit by bit, they unraveled the world and scorched their name in the earth.
“So it’s settled then,” Tallis said, idly running her fingers over Cezar’s, “We should think of a gift we can bring our hosts. Something to welcome them home.” Perhaps a sacrificial lamb would be too on-the-nose, but it had possibilities.
As his twin ran her fingers over his, he opened his hand to capture hers. This secret life they shared, one that no one else would ever possibly understand. And all because of the brand and gift his birth father had given him. Luckily, his sister was willing to share with him, a new concept for a previously only child.
"Mhmm, I don't think a home-made pie will work out. Maybe something grand." Looking down at her with a smile on his face, Cezar was sure whatever they showed up with, their gifts would far overshadow it. Their strength together would change Lorendale, of that he was sure, now more than ever.

“Indeed…” Tallis purred, idly stroking the back of Cezar’s hand with her thumb. She didn’t have any ideas in mind yet, but once a wicked Scorza mind went to work there were very few puzzles that couldn’t be solved. Tallis had a flair for the dramatic, something which would no doubt be evident in her selection. She looked up at her brother, eyes softening.
“Do you think there are still others out there?” It was a question she’d never spoken aloud, but one she’d entertained in secret. It was Tallis’s deepest fear that, despite all they’d done to try and find more of their own kind, the Scorzas were left with the two of them. No matter what, Tallis knew they would not let their family die, but the thought that it was just the two of them alone…it was numbing.
