The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Eirwen wasn't usually a person aware of her body or how others viewed it, she was still young and hadn't noticed that it mattered. Yet after overhearing a few Dresmondi soldiers talking about how lucky Tazmin and @xantha were to be picked by Hiram for breeding and that it was funny they hadn't picked Eirwen the lanky girl who worships the very ground the Eldouir walk really set her off, it made her realize that not even a lowly ranking Eldouir or a fellow Dresmondi had ever approached her. She had putting on muscle weight for sometime, she didn't want to be lanky anymore. But did she want to be wanted by a man or woman? She'd never cared until recently and that alone was worrisome. Why did it matter was all Yule asked and that didn't help because she did question why did it matter? She was pretty...
....or was she?
She fought back tears as she left her duties they couldn't see her like this because she'd have to kill them. Spilling out into the streets of Elderkeep the fighting stopped as a few wet tears ran down her face making her almost run into none other than Queen Elena Eldouir ...
"Forgive me my Queen....I...I.. didn't mean to almost run into you," she dropped to a knee with her head down to hide her silly shame.

Elena was feeling restless, a common theme these days she had noticed, and so she had made her way out into the streets earlier in the day. Only it never quite satisfied her. Elena missed Lorendale. She missed the people and the taverns and the shops and all the luxuries that it offered. Dresmond was different in almost every way imaginable. She wanted to go to a ball, with lots of fine foods and beautiful music and elegant gowns. Alas. Even as Queen this was not to be. Not here.
So feeling disappointed she had decided to make her back to the keep and perhaps do some training, something physical to distract her thoughts. Only as she made her way in that direction she had to halt in her steps to keep one of the dresmondi from colliding into her. She humphed in annoyance and looked down at the girl as she quickly dropped to a knee. Elena knew this girl. She'd been hanging around close to the Eldouirs basically since they'd first arrived.
She didn't notice the tears with the girl's lowered face and her gaze moved to her dyr, a rooster. Some of the dyrs were impressive, that was true, but a lot of them were not. Magic or not, how disappointing to end up with part of your soul in the body of a silly chicken. "And why are you in such a hurry?" she found herself asking.

"I cut away from my duties early because...," and what she spat was ladened with her own personal conviction, "...if I had to listen to those stupid boys one more time I'd have had Yule freeze them just to the point their dyrs and then too would knock on the wagon door of death," and she changed a look at the Queen, "...and then I'd gut them...stupid boys don't know nothing..."

Well that was...violent. Elena liked it. It was no wonder she had become one of the Eldouirs soldiers, she certainly fit right in. Elena studied her for a long moment and though Eirwen was taller than her, Elena had the presence as if she was looking down at her subject. She didn't need height to be superior.
"I suppose restraint is a good excuse, though cutting out on your duties is...ill advised. What exactly were they doing to make you want to enact such vicious revenge upon them?" she asked.

She wasn't ashamed to lay it out, "they said I wasn't pretty and that's why the blood god wouldn't ever give me what he gave...the other two," Eirwen was of course referring to Tazmin and @xanthe, "you know the girls at tribute...like what do I gotta do to even get really recognized? I'm pretty right....have you ever kissed a boy Queen?"

Elena couldn't help but laugh. What a poor, naive little thing. "Trust me, Eirwen, you do not want that kind of attention from Hiram. Did you see Taz's face afterwards?" she shook her head. No, Eirwen was lucky to have avoided all that if you asked Elena.
She was surprised by the followup question though, asking if she was pretty. She shrugged casually. "Sure you're pretty." She hadn't really thought about it much one way or the other. "Many times. Girls too, why?" She really wasn't entirely sure where this conversation was going.

She hadn't seen Taz at all since Tribute she responded with a shake of her head thinking, what did that mean? Well, it didn't matter the Queen was engaging her and wasn't mean or bored sounding like Adeline, "well I mean you got experience right? Sooo...kiss me. I've never kissed...anything...or anyone..." she still was on one knee looking up at Elena.

Elena lifted her brows in surprise at the request. Or more like her demand. It was not said at all with a questioning tone. Looking down at the younger dresmondi all she saw was a pathetic child who felt sorry for herself. Honestly it was no wonder that Hiram had never taken an interest. In spite of her loyalty, which was certainly of value, she didn't have the kind of resilience was that expected of Eldouirs. Elena was pretty sure Eirwen would have faltered had she born into the family.
"Get up," Elena told her. "I'm not going to pity kiss you, Eirwen. You're still young. There is still plenty of time to experience your first kiss." Though she was a little unnerved by the way Eirwen had said any'thing' before any'one'. What did that even mean? "Besides, in spite of your beauty, you do want to be more than just a pretty face and if you act desperate like this than no one is going to be interested, regardless of your appearance."

No pity but the Queen did think she was pretty, Eirwen couldn't even get pity but she stood nonetheless and listened to every word the Queen spoke. Clinging to them like a raft in a flooding storm she just needed to be more confident. She already had more going for her than most other Dresmondi being a soldier another thing she clung to for dear life.
"....I got called a murder hobo, that's what I want to be...your murder hobo soldier," she laughed, "what brings you down by the by your highness? something big is coming, I've felt the stir," she was done it seemed with the feeling sorry for herself, the Queen was right Eirwen wanted to be known for more.

Elena chuckled in spite of herself. Murder hobo soldier. That was funny. Eirwen was entertaining at the very least. And it really was the very least. She had been one of the most loyal dresmondi since the Eldouirs had first invaded arrived.
Though at her follow up question Elena glanced in the direction of Elderkeep. Eirwen wasn't the only one who was feeling that 'stir' but no one had yet to tell her anything. It was something that, as Queen, was deeply frustrating. Still, she kept her face neutral. Best not to let the her subjects know that she didn't know what the hell was actually going on.
"I've been cooped up away for far too long. I wanted to get out among my loyal subjects," she was intentionally praiseworthy in her tone and wording. It set her apart from other Eldouirs who saw the dresmondi as little more than pawns or playthings.

Eirwen could have purred, look no further than the most loyal of subjects, to which brought a confession, "can I warn you of something? it's just bothered me since Tribute my Queen," she looked to where the Queen was, "the Dresmondi with your color hair....I don't trust her."

A warning? Elena cocked a brow curiously, wondering what could possibly be any sort of threat that deserved a warning, especially something that had been bothering her for so long. Elena knew who Eirwen was talking about though she couldn't for the life of her remember the girl's name.
"Walk with me," Elena directed and altered her original steps to move neither towards the keep nor the city, instead moving at a casual pace towards the outskirts and the wilderness beyond. "Why don't you trust her?" she asked Eirwen.

Eirwen did follow and she wasted little time giving the Queen her reasonings, "how could I not? Do you know how hard it is to hide red hair your majesty? Here? Hard. You only stay hidden here because you want to not be seen, so why now? Why claim to be anything then the trash she is? If you ask me she wanted to be seen now for a reason...I don't trust that."

Elena took the information thoughtfully. She didn't answer right away but simply considered Eirwen's words. There might be some Eldouir who would stamp out any potential threat as soon as it was spoke, but Elena decided to at least be more observant of Luka from now on. It was possible that Eirwen was just projecting due to some kind of jealousy. But it was also possible that she was right.
"Thank you for letting me know," Elena told her after a several long moments of silence. "What have you been working on lately? Any particular goals you have in mind?" she asked, turning the conversation back to Eirwen.
