The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Kat, as much as she wanted to, didn't trust Faylin as much as Kasper did. The stick wasn't as far up her ass as before, but she was pretty sure the woman would object to her using her magic as she planned. And so for now it would be on a need to know basis, and they didn't yet need to know.
"Nothing yet. But I'm sure we will soon." We, it sounded ridiculous to speak of a snake in such a way. But he had been helpful in an obstinate way, and now she was close to finding some answers.

"Well keep us updated I guess," Kasper huffed he was half annoyed at being shut out but at the same time, as a one Van Zant to the next, it was a pride thing to mistrust everyone outside of the family name...Faylin may still fall under that category to Kat..., "anyways, I'm glad to be home even if it's for a little bit."
Faylin had listened quietly to their conversation, though her gaze shifted to Kat as she suddenly shut down the conversation, a bit of hurt lingering there. For as much as she had come to feel like she belonged to the family, it seemed she was, at the end of the day, still an outsider to them. Her and Kat had always been on rocky ground with each other and she wondered if that would ever change, even if one day her and Kasper were to marry.
She glanced to Kasper, any traces of hurt vanished from her eyes as she pulled that ever familiar wall back up and smiled a bit. "It's nice to be away from Cambria, that's for certain. I should probably go check on things back at my place." After all, it had sat empty while they'd been in Cambria.
"I'll meet back up with you later?" she directed at Kasper and would move for the door if he answered.
Kat hadn't told anyone about her plans, and she wasn't even sure if she was going to talk to Kasper about it until it worked. It was a shot in the dark, one likely to pan out with nothing as everything else had. But she was going to pursue it all the same, and if it was successful she was going to need both of them in the end.
"Faylin stay and eat something at least." If there was anything left of course. Which after this long, the odd were not good.

Kasper fought wanting to give Faylin a hug, he'd fought it a great deal in Cambria so it wasn't that hard. However Kat saved the moment potentially offering for Faylin to stay and eat with them so he played off his true excitement by shrugging, "yeah we don't mind, or just eat and leave? But if you got to go I understand," Kasper the always Understanding.
She considered Kat's offer very briefly, but even without the moment of hurt that had passed, frankly she just wanted a bit of time to herself. She hadn't had a true moment of peace in a long time. Even when she'd been able to find alone time in Cambria, she hadn't really been able to relax. Now that they were home, she wanted nothing more than a bit of peace and quiet.
So she tossed a small smile over her shoulder. "I'll find something to eat on my way home, but thank you." Then she went on her way.
Kat fought the urge to roll her eyes, but decided to focus on family for now instead. She could go sulk at home, and surely Kasper would lift her spirits later.
"Well I'm starved even if she isn't, and the kiddos will definitely want some stories." Standing to head downstairs she smiled. "Damn it's good to be home."

Kasper didn't want to let his mind linger at the door, he turned to his twin a genuine smile on his face, "Yeah me too, ain't thought about anything since I left but getting back here," which was a lie because the whole time he was away he was glad he could use Cambria to distract him from Mina, "I missed all of you guys, I even got everyone something!"
He moved past Kat grabbing his bag beside the entrance and dashed into the kitchen, the kids were all scattered about eating quietly, "um are you guys sick?" he asked curiously, most of the time it was anarchy in the dining room anything from food fights to brawling, but they were eating like civilized children and even their greens, "are you giving these kids something Sans?"
"No douche canoe, it's called structure," she mocked between bites of mashed potatoes.
"hmm, well I got everyone something from Cambria," Kasper couldn't wait as he tore through his gear to pull out a handful of necklaces each with two little glass vials full of dirt, "aren't they cool?! It's soil from Cambria and dirt from that one time I was in Lorendale, I'm going to do this anytime I got to another kingdom..." he was super proud of it.
