The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Her left eye twitched at the confession of their real names and for a second her smile dropped but was right back as she looked between the two, "you two are quite pair huh? Ha," she repeated the name until she could probably spell their names, "Aylin and Ember, lying and stealing doesn't make for good friends... remember that and remember I'm watching you two."
She lingered for just a moment longer pushing some hair out of her face reveal a lengthy jagged scar from chin to cheek.
A goofy grin appeared on her face as they scratched the nape of their neck. "I guess so", they said, leaving it at that. "We'll definitely remember it, don't you worry about that." One ear in, out the other. They'd probably get caught stealing again in the future, but hopefully not by this soldier. If she was near, Aydin would probably resort to asking the soldier for food, like she had suggested, just to cover up the fact that she was about to steal it. Anyways. "And that scar is a beautiful reminder why I shouldn't steal anymore", they added, referring to what Eirwen had told her earlier about how she had gotten that scar.
"How did you end up being a soldier for the Eldouir, if I may ask?" She wasn't sure whether the soldier wanted to go on her way again, but it was a burning question that they were dying to ask. They had told Rhidian too that she could understand why people decided to work for the Eldouir, and because she didn't have much of a determined plan for the future, she was keeping her options open.

Eirwen touched the scar and then pulled her hand away just as quickly, nope she wasn't diving into that headspace not on duty. Not on duty. It was a relief when Aylin had moved on green eyes brightening again and just for food measure she let her jet black hair down trying to cover the scar with it, "because they've given me a purpose, I...well I feel connected with them....each one in different ways...Yeva, she's my bestest friend number one. We do everything basically together...and then there is Myla who took me with her to hunt Lorendalers! And then the Blood God himself...Hiram," Aylin would see it plain as day the way Eirwen said his name bursting with want...eyes misted over in thought of him...slack faced... smirking, "He's tasted my blood before... personally...outside of Tribute...," she bit into her bottom lip so hard that her mouth filled with the taste of copper. She had to regain herself... Eirwen's composure had collapsed momentarily...
"They think little of me, but they know my loyalty. They have it, plus I'm from Dijila, born and raised," to the point of when the Eldouir arrived, "So being a soldier or a warrior is in my blood..."
It was surprising how quickly the atmosphere surrounding the two Dresmondi had changed. The threatening vibes had ceased, and now Aydin was genuinely interested in what Eirwen was telling them. The mention of the Eldouirs peaked her interest even more. She had yet to meet them, and didn't fully know what to expect. Of course she had heard the stories, but did they paint an accurate picture?
"What's-- what's he like?" they asked, referring to Hiram. The biggest and baddest of them all. He was almost a mythical creature. So many stories about him, what he had done in Lorendale and what he was doing here with the Dresmondi. It was safe to say that she was terrified of him, but somewhere, deep down, there was also some kind of... admiration? Was that the word they were willing to use for this so-called Blood God? It wasn't easy to become such a powerful enemy to so many people. It wasn't easy to take over an entire kingdom without suffering too many losses on your own side, but the Eldouir seemed to have done this just fine.
"Isn't that difficult? Being so loyal when they don't think much of you? I mean, you seem like a fierce soldier. I sure was scared of you just now", they asked, and chuckled a bit, still some leftover sweat on her forehead from being scared of losing their fingers. Aydin was letting her guard down, and was being a little too open with this still pretty much unknown person. "I do think about it sometimes, what it would be like to be a soldier for them." She looked away for a second, gazing down at her feet. Stop oversharing, Ember squeaked next to their ear. Aydin bounced their shoulder to shut the little jerboa up.

"I couldn't describe him and do the man honor, don't be silly Aylin," Eirwen giggled, "he's just everything all at once, no fear, brutal, strong...just all the words," she didn't know if the other person could see her face but it was burning with heat, luckily she had the answer to the follow up question, "I got hope to hold on to, one day I'll do something that will earn me a spot in the family," she sounded super confident with her answer but Yule spoke directly to Ember and only Ember would hear him, 'shes got hope, just false hope.' He sounded tired but in his little rooster black heart Yule supported Eirwen's ambition, he just had to keep her safe more often.
"You should have joined when you were younger, to be a soldier at your age ..shew...rough. I've had a few things broken and the beatings, madness, but I was just a kid when I started. Easier to break and heal ya know? Yule thinks it attributes to my....mental problems...," she smirked.
"I see", Aydin mused, listening to how Eirwen described Hiram, or well, the lack of description that still contained more than enough information on the man. "You must've been thinking about him just now when you were trying to carve my name into your brain, it's Aydin, not Aylin, but for someone so generous as you," they continued with a wink, referring to the lack of chopped-off fingers, "I'll be whoever you want me to be."
Ember's ears perked up when he heard the other dyrs voice. He hadn't expected to be spoken to, so with a quick movement, he faced the rooster. We can't do much more than support our humans, even though their hope may not be justified, the little guy replied.
Aydin raised their eyebrows. "Rough? I didn't fight back because I'm aware that you're stronger than I am, but that doesn't mean that I'm weak either. I know my way around weapons."

"Aydin, yeah, I think that's what I said," Eirwen mumbled unconcerned with names, more than likely what was the difference in how she said it? Probably spelled exactly the same if she could spell. Or read.
'she isn't bright,' Yule once again spoke to Ember only, 'just know though you twos are lucky...she's not wrapped to tight these days.'
"you ever stabbed someone? And not just a poke, can you take a life?" Eirwen was buzzing with new thoughts, "I've looked people in the eyes as the breath leaves them...when the chest beater stops. You can't be weak when you have to make that call."
Ember's little ears perched up when Yule addressed him. We're very grateful for her going easy on us, believe you me, the small rodent said.
"I haven't taken a human life, no", Aydin confessed. "But I can't see why I couldn't do it. I'm a hunter. Killing is what I do." They fixated on Eirwen. "How many lives have you taken?"

She wasn't going to argue the difference between killing a dumb creature versus another human or even another dyr. This made Eirwen bustle with pride and a twisted smirk with it, "six or seven," she indicated Yule with the nod of her head, "but that cold as ice chicken...double digits at least."
The snapped her fingers and clapped her hands together as they walked, of course most of Yule's kills were forced by the explosive nature of Eirwen. He didn't take as great a pleasure in it as Eirwen but he always had her back.
Aydin whistled, in awe of Yule's body count. "I'm glad I caught you two on a good day, then. Wouldn't want to add to those numbers myself." They chuckled. Then they lightly shook their head and looked behind them.
"Eirwen, Yule, it was nice meeting you, but if I'm excused for my crimes, I should perhaps get going, if you'll allow me?"

"yes, permission granted," she ignored the request and gave it like she was dismissing the Dresmondi but not without a warning, "no more stealing. Next time I won't be lenient just because we are good friends okay. Yule let's go," and with a wink Eirwen turned to leave her new friend.
