[For @yeva]
It was late. The darkness had covered the land once more, leaving them only with the light of the fires around the city and the stars in the nightsky. Aydin was sitting at one of the fires, not too far away from her wagon but further away than they normally sat. At first there were a few people sitting around, but as time went on, they all left until eventually Aydin was just sitting by themselves. Of course there was still Ember, but the little critter was sleeping peacefully on her shoulder, covered by a scarf.
The person took a sip of a flask she had found earlier that day. Or well, 'found'. It had still been attached to someone's belt, and she had seen him drink from it too. It was some liquor, they weren't even sure what kind of liquor, but what did it matter if it kept your insides warm? The Dresmondi had snatched it off the man's belt before making a run for it, and it had been a success. Now they were sipping the cold away.
Aydin looked up when a shadow appeared near her. It was a large shadow, which immediately made them feel threatened. They placed a hand on their dagger but before she could look up, a man had grabbed her wrist, pushing her over and pinning her against the ground. "Let go!" she screamed while the man started fiddling with the brim of her pants. She lifted her leg and tried to kick him in the groin, which didn't really work. Ember, who had woken up by almost getting squashed beneath Aydin, used his power to throw sand at the man's face, temporarily blinding him and causing him to fall back. He rubbed his eyes with one hand, but didn't let go of Aydin's wrist with the other, causing her to get snatched up from the ground only to land on top of him. Not sure what else to do, she made a fist and landed it on the man's nose. They crawled up, got back on her feet, and wanted to run away when the man turned around and grabbed her ankle. "Not so fast." She screamed again, kicking him in the face which made his nose bleed profoundly. "Help!" she yelled, although she knew no-one in Dresmond cared enough to actually come to aid her.
