The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

@torsten
Another task, another thing that needed to be done but things can't be fun right. Today she been asked if she could find a soldier that goes by the name Torsten and head out to the streets to sort out a problem in a area to the north of the castle. It was apparently in a middle class sort of area that been having some trouble. The information is a bit of in the air at the moment however. There been asked to go and visit a young lady called Lady Malina and she would be able to inform them more on the matter.
Zarha thought it was strange that all they got was the name of a woman however, as a soldier you can't question the lieutanents or how things works so of they go to the ladies house. As they walked Zarha thought she should get to know this soldier who she going to be working with. He looks kinda interesting. "It a bit strange that we hardly got any information. Don't you think?" Her eyes was looking at him slightly as they walked.
Tor always got an immediate impression of massive but compact strength whenever he saw Zarha. She may have been short, but pound for pound, the woman had muscle to spare and was very easy on the eyes. He sternly veered his eyes from her lithe form, stemming the thoughts that would follow from that line of thinking. He'd seen her work harder than many of the other soldiers which always got his instant respect, and the petite woman never shirked her duties, no matter how difficult or filthy they were.
Her question made him think twice about the scant details and it certainly posed a mystery. Tor nodded to Zarha, agreeing with her completely.
"Definitely peculiar to have so little to go on. We can't know if it was all they have to go on, or a need to know basis for command decisions. The best we can do is keep our eyes and ears open to see what we can find out. Do you have any suggestions on where you think we should start?"
Zarha had looked up and was holding his gaze. Manners demanded that he didn't instantly look away, so he watched her with intensely dark eyes on the fit young woman. And tried not to think the thoughts he couldn't help but thinking.

Word on the streets were he was hard working and he is dedicated to his work which she admires above all. She love when people work hard, espically when it come to service. With all that coming up hard-work and dedication to the military, to training, too all things that being involved with a soldier is all about. Plus with the looks of things he seemed to be strong and easy on the eyes. No, they have a job at hand.
Thankfully, he asked a question. "I've been told that we need to go and speak to a Lady Malina De Leon. She is the woman who put in the report, it seems to be important that she come by as soon as possible." At least he agreed with her that it was strange. "Do you know where about she is and the quickest way we can get there?" If it impotent to get there quickly the shortest route is always best.
Torsten drew himself up to his full six foot three and scanned the area with as farseeing a gaze as possible. After a long pause, he answered,
"De Leon? I think it's about two blocks southeast of here is where we're looking for. My mother grew up on the outskirts so I remember the general area." He gestured with a large, well shaped hand as he spoke, and turned in that direction. It was closest to where his parents lived, bordering the outskirts on the dividing line between middle and lower class.
Mosse's mother had very briefly mentioned long ago, that she was from a line of nobles that had lost their income and fell on hard times a few generations ago. He wondered briefly what his life would have been like had his status been any different. Knowing his mother, he'd probably be exactly the same.
The buildings in the area were a little more run down than the others and many of the homes simply lacked the simple upkeep of decent windows or a good garden. Mosse slowed his large stride and they stood near the dwellings as he looked around, trying to figure out exactly which place they should go to.
"This is the general area, but exactly which one, I'm not sure. What's the best way to find out?" Mosse said aloud, asking both himself and Zarha.

Zarha was greatful that he was tall, a lot of men are taller then her here in Nevermere, so it doesn't take much. South east of here. that seems like a reasonable and her being a lady it might seem reasonable. She trust Torsten as they walked towards the area in which he explained that he might be.
Her family as far as she been away have always been poor fighting day by day to get by with the food what they have. Well what food she brought home. Her parents hardly are around to help with anything. Well apart from paying the rent to keep the roof over their families head, that about it. She hardly know anything more about their family or the life they might of lived. Maybe it a good thing. Who knows?
When Torsten asked what the best way to find out what the best way to find out where they live. "We don't want people to gossip, if a noble found out we are talking to the De Leons they might spread rumors and hurt their rep so we have to be careful." She thought for a bit. She pulled a piece of parchment out of her pocket.
A kid ran up to Torsten. "Excuse me sir? Are you here to talk to my Auntie, Lady Malina?" It was a young boy of about eight years of age. He looked panic and have a look of fear in his eyes. There was a look in Zarha eyes that was concern where this young boy looked so scared. She had the look of dedication and urgacy in her eyes as she looked back up to Torsten and nodded to follow quickly.
Mosse nodded to the other soldier and definitely agreed. This area was extra touchy about their public repuations and he didnt want to step on any figurative toes around here. They were all desperately struggling not to cross that poverty line. Pride was the main reason for far too many, but the more practical among them, were more importantly concerned with the day to day effor to eat and have a steady place to live. It was an ugly and awkward reminder that an insecure rank could lead to starvation, but that was a real fact that far too many people simply had to face.
A small voice piped up and he looked down at the little boy with both relief that their where problem was quickly solved but the child's urgency gave him some concern.
"Yes young man, that's exactly why we're here. Lead the way." he answered confidently. It was one of the things Mosse was proud of and really enjoyed about being a soldier was that any stranger, especially a child, could see his uniform and automatically trust them. The pair followed swiftly, the boy leading them to a house just two doors down. It showed the kid's desperation that he took Zarha by the hand and tugged at her to get the soldiers through the door and abruptly into the family's kitchen. Mosse ducked swiftly at the very last moment, only just catching himself from whacking his head against the door frame.

It felt odd that the kid took her hand and tugged her towards the house. Thankful that the kid was able to help them find the way. When they got to the kitchen. There was a young woman, about twenty-eight years of age holding a child no older then one years old in her arms. The baby is crying, she seemed like she been crying to. She looked up a sense of gratefulness could be seen on her face when she clocked the uniforms. "Auntie, they say they here to help." The young boy went to hug his auntie and looked at the soldiers.
Looking around the Kitchen it seemed like they was a burglary there was glass near the door. in the hallway there was a white cloth covering something with however if looked at closely a hint of a dogs tail could be seen but it not moving. there was a slight blood trail leading out of the backdoor. Whatever happened here seemed urgant. no wonder they was needed quickly.
"Lady De Leon we came as soon as we could. Name Miss Sliva and this is my partner Mr Mosse. I understand that you are scared right now but we are here to help."
The young mother nodded as she guested to the table sitting down with the baby in arms. The young boy standing behind his auntie. "thanks for coming on sort notice." This was a voice that seemed like they was crying for hours nonstop, a bit of anger and hurt. "What do you like to know?"
Mosse frowned when he saw the broken glass in the front, the still covered form in the hall, and a trail of blood leading out the back. Simple animal attack? Unauthorized magic use? Whatever it was, it was worth the urgency. The woman beside him made quick and efficient introductions and got the Lady talking to keep her mind off her immediate strong feelings. Good tactics to calm her--he'd have to remember that for the future as he nodded politely as his name was mentioned.
He shot a swift look at Zarha and mouthed the question, 'burglary?' thinking it seemed pretty clear cut what happened. But if it were as simple as breaking and entereing, wouldn't they have been told from the start? Something more sinister was going on here, he felt. They definitely needed a full explanation here.
She looked distraught and while she sat and gestured at the table, Mosse remained standing for at least the beginning of their talk. He needed to stay ready and alert for any new problem that presented itself, not wanting to miss a thing.
"You're welcome, that's what here for Lady De Leon." the soldier answered as mannerly and as calmly as he could. The mother's voice was slowly becoming more outraged instead of tearful and it made him glad. It was easier to get answers and get her talking more clearly if she was done crying. Although the crying child finally quelled and quieted, which helped the overall atmosphere. It was still tense and the smell of blood wasn't exactly inviting comfort for anyone involved at the moment.
"Why don't you start at the beginning. What were you and your nephew doing when you noticed the incident occurring?"
The mother took a moment to think about it, her eyes lingering on the broken glass before she answered,
"I'd told Dormin here," she paused and pointed at her nephew before continuing, "-to get changed out of his training clothes and was over in the bedroom. I was putting the baby to sleep and she was almost settled for it when I heard an almighty loud crash from the kitchen! The dog barked and yelped and I ran out here to see what was happening. That's when I saw that huge thing..." the mother broke down in tears again, making the baby start squalling loudly to join in the cacophony.

Zarha looked at Torsten as he mouthed bulgery and she nodded, the feeling in her gut made her feel like something else was going on. There was something she wasn't seeing there was more then meets the eye. She looked at the boy. "Dormin is it? She stayed calm the last thing they need is for either her or Torsten to seem like they are worried.
"Yes miss." The young boy stood up straight.
"I need you to make your auntie a cup of tea. I think see needs one, don't you think?" She could see that the young boy wanted to be by his auntie. Be by her side and not leave her. The sense of guilty was in his eyes. "We will be with her."
The boy nodded and walked to start making some tea. "It was going for my baby, it was going for my daughter. I...I had to stop them"[/b] She looked at Torsten as she spoke there look of something more dark going on.
He watched Zarha deal with the scared little boy like a champ and took control of the situation. Now that was a woman who had your back, even in a tense situation. Mosse tried not to let the tears bother him. He knew he was supposed to be a soldier and coming undone at a woman crying just wasn't good. His dark brown eyes settled on the table and he grabbed at the napkin he saw, quickly offering it to the Lady.
Mosse continued his questioning in a low but urgent tone, trying to keep things soothing, but he didn't want the momentum of her questioning to be undone.
"Yes, yes of course you had to protect your daughter. Very admirable. So..them.. Lady De Leon? So there was more than one perpetrator who broke in? Did you recognize them? How many were there?"
The Lady took the proferred napkin and dabbed at her eyes, trying to control her sobbing. Her wet eyes lingered on her nephew and she smiled proudly through her tears.
"He's such a good boy." she said, trying to gather herself to be calm enough to answer the tall, intimidating looking soldier's quick interrogative questions. He was tall, large and his line of questioning was shockingly abrupt.

Zahra watched as Torsten pass the lady a napkin and asked his questions. direct, firm but understanding, very admirable. She watched the lady dry her tears. Sitting there her eyes was soft and kind, trying to be the calm in this storm she is going through. Watching the woman carefully her body language read scared her eyes looking between Torsten, Zarha, Dormin and her daughter.
"He is a brave kid." Trying to be reassuring as Malina looked at Zarha and nodded.
The brown eyes of this lady looked at Torsten. "There was three of them. I think.. I know I recognize one of them. He goes by the name Diego Alvardo. He threaten my family on more the one occasions. I just never thought that he would do it."
"I see." Mosse responded in an even tone and continued, "And why would he threaten a nice Lady like you?"
What kind of man would threaten a person with their children and attack them?! It was beyond his sense of moral outrage and he tucked his chin down in determination. He would help her and her kids, somehow. He glanced down at Zarha, glad for someone by his side he could count on.
Dormin carefully carried over a brimming tea cup and saucer, holding on to it with both hands and brought it to his aunt. He looked very proud to be the one to help take care of her and Mosse nodded his approval without even realizing it. The boy reminded him of himself at that age, trying to be the caretaker from the start. The boy would need to be questioned later as well, but first, his aunt needed to keep explaining.

Zarha looked up into Tors beautiful eyes as he as Dormin brought the tea. His eyes focus on the tea being careful not to spill any, he even put two cookies on the surcer. knowing that his auntie haven't had a bite to eat yet.
"Diego and I grew up together, he was my best friend. After training we drifted apart.." She paused before looking at Dormin. "Can you go in the pantary and get some food out for later. I let you pick what we having for dinner." She asked clearly she didn't want to say something in front of Dormin.
After watching him walk away and out of ear shot she carried on. "It wasn't till me and my now husband started dating threats started saying that he will make sure that I will not be pure for my husband. When my daughter Willow was born he sent me a treat saying that she looked divine."
Zarha hearing those words made her clunce her fist she was determined to find this guy. "Do you have copies of these notes?" She asked carefully.
She nodded as she walked over to a drawer grabbing a key from the wall and unlocking it. Pulling about thirty or so letters/notes from there. Zarha looked over them some of them was graphic of what he would do, some seemed like empty threats. She pass them over to Tors.

The tall soldier frowned down at the women, worried at the turn this was taking and caught Zahra staring at him. Tor blinked in confusion at why she would be gazing up at him like that in the middle of an investigation. That anyone would be interested in him, never even crossed his mind for a second. He looked puzzled at Zahra for a brief glance and returned his full attention to the situation at hand.
Once the boy had accomplished his task, his aunt sent him off and continued on with the story quickly. The Lady's explanation came with a stack of letters and the two of them swiftly shuffled through them, reading them and taking in as much as possible. When the woman beside him handed over the stack, he immediately responded,
"Thank you, they're a big help." he assured her, rifling through them and scanning them, passing over some of the notes to Zarha and pointing out certain word choices.
"This is clearly a long term jealousy problem." Tor whispered to the soldier beside him with concern. He turned back to the woman to ask,
"And where is your husband right now? Have you told him about these threats?" he asked, holding out one of the papers.

When Zarha saw he noticed her she looked back at the woman. Focus, you are work! Lady Malina nodded when Tors thanks her for the letters. When Tors whisper his concerns, she couldn't help but agree. "We need to try and bring, ask questions. If he doing this now who knows what this man is doing. Who knows if he will try it again." She kept her voice quiet as she raised her concerns to Torsten.
"He currently out at sea, he is in the navy. He will be back hopefully in a couple of weeks. Dormin, is my husband's sister's boy. His mother and father both work in the military to. So at the moment it just me, Willow, and Dormin. I inform he of the treats every single time i get a new one. He kept telling me to report it." She trying to hold back her tears.
"Lady Malina, we are here to help you. Is there anywhere you can stay? Somewhere that not here?" She was thinking more of safety if this man knows that her husband is out of town he might be likely attack again, plus she is vulnerable.
"I can possible go round a friends house?" she sounded unsure, scared of what going to happen.
