The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Seeing the way the Huntsman and her fellow soldiers felt a lot, knowing that she was super strong she thought that she was about to punch somebody in the face. However, somehow she knew she had to keep her cool. That one thing they train them for to be able to keep calm and Carry on. With possibility of war on the horizon they can't really afford to have fits of emotions.
Today it was one of their training sessions. She been really looking forward to them, she push her to the limits. She needs to be pushed, she cannot afford to back down, she wants to be strong enough for when war calls. So she got to the training yard and she started with her stretches, warming up her body ready for what ever Regan is going to throw at her today. When the Huntsman arrive she will stand to attention. waiting to be addressed. if she was going to address her.

Regan trundled into the training yard, looking a little bit of a mess. The parade was coming up, which meant Othello was making his debut to the world. That put just as much pressure on the woman that trained him as the man himself. Regan was very much feeling it now. This could be both their making or breaking. Which one?
That remained to be seen.
But at least she had this. A moment’s pause. A spar; one that had no stakes or expectations. Regan nodded once at Zarha as she entered the training yard. “Weapons today,” Regan said, picking up a wooden sword from the rack.

Weapons other then ax is not her strongest suit, she does prefer a ax and she was good at throwing them and using them to close combat to. However, she knows that she need to train in more in other weapon to make sure that she always have option at hand if needs be. Going over to where the wooden swords are, going through all the things Regan taught her last time to not go to quickly, to pace herself. Going back towards to the middle with sword in hand.

Regan tested the weight of the wooden weapon. One would think it would be easier, fighting with someone so much lighter than steel, but for Regan, it presented a different kind of challenge. She favored strength over dexterity, power over speed. Sparring with wood forced her to pull back the strength of her blows so as not to snap the wood on impact. So, this was good practice for them both.

Holding the sword at the point felt like second nature, it does feel strange in her hands as she looked at the huntsman at the moment. Knowing that Regan is much stronger then she was. So she might have to tune into her speed to dodge some blows. Going forward, she went for her first swing of the sword, if Regan tries to swing her sword at her she will use her other arm to try and knock it out of the way.

Regan did try to swing for her and was surprised when Zarha reached with her bare arm. Regan swore and sloppily redirected her blow as not to break the woman’s arm. “Careful,” the huntsman barked in frustration, “You’ll lose an arm acting like that.”
Regan raised her sword. “Again.” Regan would wait for her to strike this time.

Zarha in her head swore mentally but it was interesting to hear the huntsman swear. It not like it was a everyday sort of thing. However, she nodded, just to be careful. Fighting with a sword is hard, you have to think a lot more then you do with your fist. So Zarha went in again and try and do another swing.

The second swing was better. Regan blocked it and came back with one of her own, this one easily blocked before she went in with another, trying to see if Zarha could be put on the defensive.

Feeling that the second swing was better then her last, it wasn't great, but still it was an improvement and that all that matters, especially with what coming up. She want to make sure that she was good enough in areas, that she would be able to defend herself and help others when needed.
When Regan came in with another swing with her sword she tries to use her sword to try knock it out of Regan's hands.

Yes, she was right. It was an improvement. Though by degrees, it was the continued march that mattered; not distance so much as consistency.
Regan maneuvered out of the way, trying to meet Zarha in terms of speed, not strength as she usually did. She’d see if the soldier would meet her on those terms as she came back for another carefully placed slip of her wooden “blade.”

Trying to look over Reagan's movement she was trying to match her speed. That was more like it, well for her anyway. However she knows she would have to hold back a bit. Her eyes follows the blade that is Regan's wooden sword and tries to match her pace as she tries to block it.
She knows there was still a lot of work for her to want to hold back when it comes to here speed. Espically, when all that she want to do was run, run and run. however there was a part of her heart she knows she can't run forever, she looks at regan, she about eight years older then her and she a commoner like her yet she the King's Huntsman, she have such power within her and here she was wanting to be like her, however she doesn't know how.

The spar continued, the huntsman stopping to offer advice or corrections before launching back in again. There was something meditative about the exercise. She supposed that’s why she was here in the first place: the simplicity. And in that simplicity, escape.
They trained until the flickering torches cast shadows around the training yard. Regan would hold up a hand, indicating to Zarha that they should stop. “You’re getting better,” Regan said, stooping to pick up her water flask.

When Regan signal for them to stopped she looked around noticing that it was getting darker. "Thanks Ma'am, I have a good instructor Huntsman." Her voice was soft as Regan explained that she was getting better that she was getting better in combat. She still feel like there still stuff for her to learn. She know the learning will never stop and she will learn new things to the day she die. That possible why she love training. The new skills.
"I always find it fun training with you." It was a rare but true smile across the young soldiers face.

Regan grunted, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. If she did, it would have been an affectionate eye roll—or at least, something like it. After all, Regan had been a young recruit before just like Zarha; eager, bright-eyed, eager to seize any opportunity she could. Regan was more jaded now; older, wiser. And, she thought, it was for the better.
Still, it was nice to be reminded of where she’d come from.
“Fun—that isn’t something I hear too often,” Regan teased with a grouchy grumble.

Zarha is possible the most boring soldier there is, she just trains and trains, plus training on top of that. So in the way eager yes eager, for work. eager to train, eager to push herself yes. Bright-eye possible not as much there is pain behind her eyes, sadness, loneliness, sorrow that now and then she has to push to the back of her mind not wanting to be seen.
There was a warm smile. "I feel that is hard to believe." There was a tease under her voice trying to match Regan's.
