The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

[ For @sebastian ]
Coraline had heard about the wedding of course. When upper class nobles were wed it tended to be the talk of the town. She wasn't all that familiar with the bride and groom herself though she certainly knew of the bride's connection to the famous Tybalt Zane. There was a road that led out of town, one that was well known to head directly to the Kane lands. Carriage after carriage formed a procession as they turned onto the street, carrying patrons dressed in their very finest, to celebrate the union of the happy couple. Coraline hoped they were happy anyway. For all she knew it was a marriage of arrangement and nothing else, just as her dear Augustus' had been.
Standing at the corner of the street with a bundle of flowers in her arms, Cora watched the procession along with other of the 'lesser' folks. A thoughtful expression was on her face but inside she was feeling the injustice of it all.
In Sebastian's opinion, it was an utter tragedy that the Snows had been overlooked when it came to wedding invitations. After all, if anyone in Lorendale knew how to throw a party, it was Sebastian Snow, and what was a wedding but a giant celebration? Particularly one of this caliber, involving the particularly well-connected Lady Steward, which offered every member of the upper nobility a chance to flaunt their money and prestige and call it a ceremony for love. Well, Sebastian hardly cared about the innocuous lies they wanted to tell themselves, but to have not even been invited to enjoy the best that money had to offer? Nothing less than a travesty.
The disembodied head that floated beside him, which bore a striking resemblance to Iliana Rainecourt but for the dog ears and snout and was visible to only himself, nodded sadly in agreement before fizzling out of existence. Life was so unfair.
It was by chance that Sebastian found himself beside the woman standing on the corner of the street as they both watched the carriages traveling by, which in reality was far less interesting than the nobles within them likely believed. Sebastian was practically asleep on his feet, though the expression everyone else saw was one that was suitably impressed and interested. Perhaps he could make this whole affair far more entertaining. Horses were such flighty creatures, after all. One little illusion, and...
As if on cue, the equine pulling a carriage not far from where he stood abruptly reared up as best it could for no apparent reason. With an appropriately shocked intake of breath, Sebastian turned with the rest of the crowd to watch the driver attempt to calm the beast.

The last thing that Coraline had expected was any sort of drama in this rather slow procession of finery. When the horse suddenly reared she gasped, as did many of those around her. Her fingertips gently pressed over her lips as she took an unconscious step away from the carriage which had her bumping up against the man beside her. Instead of apologizing, as she would have normally done, she was so wrapped up in what was happening and she didn't want to take her eyes away from it. Instead, she clung to the sleeve of the man beside her, eyes wide and watching as they waited to see if the horse would calm itself, bolt, or even break free.
Sebastian, of course, was as shocked and concerned as everyone around him when the horse abruptly reared up. His gaze remained fixed on the scene before him until a nudge from the side had him glancing down to see the brown haired woman beside him standing considerably closer than she had been but moments before. Briefly, he noted the way her fingers curled around his sleeve but did not tug his arm out of her grip.
After all, she would likely need the comfort, for the horse refused to be calmed by the driver and, still hitched to the carriage, attempted to bolt.
Sebastian gasped with the crowd and took the opportunity to address the stranger by his side. “My lady,” He addressed her with a tentative smile, sounding every bit the concerned nobleman he undoubtedly was. “Perhaps we should relocate to somewhere a bit… safer?”

It was the sound of the man's voice beside her that helped to ground her back to the present rather than being so transfixed with what was happening in front of her. Looking up at him with her warm brown eyes she gave a little nod, an expression of gratitude in her gaze. "Yes, I think that would be wise."
She allowed him to direct her away from the crowd and somewhere more secure and thanked him for his help. She hoped everyone would be okay.
