This event takes place on the third day of the gala, after the parade and tournament.
The tournament winners had been announced, so there was only one thing left to do: dance. Balls were taking place all over the city, with different noble houses opening their doors for dining and dancing. The castle’s ball was the prize. Soldiers from fine noble houses and those recently promoted would be on the guest list, as well as those who had finished in the tournament. Others were awarded tickets by their superior officers, and others would be able to attend by showing up early and hoping they were not too late. Some even more unlucky got stuck working as guards to see the event went off without a hitch, which caused more than a few to secretly grumble.
Once the hall was filled, the guards would close the doors, and the ball would be underway.
The throne room had been converted into a glittering wonderland. A fire roared in the fireplace, setting off glittering decorations of ice and crystal. A band set up in the corner with fiddles, harps, flute, drum, psaltery, and nepenthia struck up a merry and boisterous song. The sounds of joyous laughter were almost as loud as if they too were part of the ancient melodies that played across the musicians’ strings.
Everyone awaited the arrival of the king and his coterie. The king would enter, followed by Hadrian Usher (Ophelia Rainecourt had taken ill and would not be in attendance). Following would be @alys , the King's Witch, and Regan Lassiter - the King's Huntsman. This was the first time the witch would be making a public appearance in this new position, one the king had created for her. Rumors abounded as to the circumstance of Miss Lassiter's promotion, each theory as non-sensical as the last. Curious didn't even begin to capture the feeling en masse...
When guests entered, they’d be handed a cup of strong elderflower punch—a traditional drink of Nevermere. As was customary, the guests would toast to the king when he arrived before the party got underway. Until then, the partygoers were welcome to mingle amongst themselves. All people in attendance outside of the king's cohort would be part of Nevermere's military, with the exception of Zevran , who was attending at the special request of @alys . Perhaps a few raised their eyebrows, but most would be too caught up in their own merriment to notice.

GUIDELINES
- You will have one week to post establishing your character's attendance before the King's arrives with his entourage. If you do not post by the time the king arrives, you make not enter the festivities afterward.
- If you do choose to throw your character in, please made a commitment to have them engaged in the festivities. This should be a popping, lively thread. Don't make your attendance a one-and-done!
- This is a gathering, and can therefore be used as a leveling requirement.
- Please only post your character once every three spots from other characters. So, that means that if you are one, you must wait for two, three, and four before posting again as five.
