The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Gunne was upstairs in her magic room when she heard shouting coming from the entryway. The woman put down the ingredients she was about to put into the kettle and made her way over to the door of the room, opening it and walking towards the stairs. She peeked downstairs and saw her brother standing there with flowers in hand.
"Keelan!" she said, quickly descending the stairs and giving her brother a hug. They hadn't seen each other since open court and even though she had her own opinions on his new business plans, she was happy to see her. "I didn't expect you."

Apparently it wasn't just a casual visit, but Gunne didn't mind, especially not once Rosa was mentioned. "Rosa?" she repeated in disbelief. "Of course, I'm right behind you."
She quickly ran to the main room, asking their maid Emma to take care of the children while she was away. She then returned to Keelan. "Do you want to go right now?"
In the few hours that Kat had been gone from the ship, she had gathered everything needed and even had a chance to take a shot of liquid courage, whiskey in this case. Because while this was her plan, a lot could go wrong. Curses were unpredictable things, and this could be a waste of an entire day. Rosamere might not have days, or maybe she had none left at all, and all Kat could wonder is if it was too little too late.
Getting into Keelan's cabin had been a breeze, slipping right past guards on deck and using the key. Of course one had found her in the cabin eventually but she just twirled the key on her finger and a smile on her face. So she waited, not so patiently pacing when she heard footsteps. Sitting back down as if she didn't have a care in the world, Kat took a breath and readied herself for the next twenty four hours.
He didn't need to say anything more, the second he had mentioned Rosa, she had been ready to leave. She left a note saying she was with Keelan and that she didn't know when she'd be back but that the kids were taken care of by Emma. Then she put on a winter coat and was ready to head out the door.
Keelan and Gunne made their way over to the ship, talking a bit about Zuri and everything. If only she knew Zuri wouldn't be there at all once they'd enter the cabin.
She watched as Keelan dismissed his men, smiling politely with no emotion when the man greeted her as well. People still slipped up and wanted to call her Morrigan. If she could have chosen back when she got married, she would have kept her name. Not because she disrespected Romulo, but because her family was such a big part of who she was.
The plank was gone and now they headed to the office. Once they stepped inside and Gunne turned to look at the desk where she supposed Zuri would be sitting. Except it wasn't Zuri.
"Keelan", she said, turning to him. "What is this, some fucking joke? Where's Zuri, and what is she doing here?" she asked, pointing at Kat.

A wicked smile crossed her face as Keelan and Gunne entered. Oh how fun it was to see the furry in the woman's eyes. Literally the only one who was still holding onto the past. But hopefully she would be willing to put it aside for the sake of her missing cousin. Certainly seemed to be overzealous in her anger so hopefully that would translate to how protective she was.
"It's her high horse you need to mind. I'm the one who said it should be her so don't go bringing me into that drama Keelan." And she wasn't going to for one second take a single bit of blame for the way that Gunne had decided to act. She was in the wrong and should be begging for forgiveness, but Kat would take an apology and her compliance with the plan.
For now she waited though, Gunne would have to make her intentions known before she continued with what her plan entailed.
Gunne clenched her jaw as she listened to her brother talk. It wad a good thing he hadn't mentioned Kat before because then she wouldn't have agreed to come down to the ship. She stared daggers at the dark haired witch when she made a comment about her, but eventually she calmed down and crossed her arms.
"You shouldn't have lied to me", she said to Keelan. Then she looked at Katerina. "So you have a plan to save Rosa? Let's hear it, I guess." It was the best chance they had at finding her.

The fact that the woman didn't bother to apologize spoke volumes about her lack of class. The woman had nothing in common with Rosamere, and more with the brutish merchant, but it didn't matter. Well it would later, for now she was going to focus. They were all going to need it.
"It's relatively simple, probably would have thought of it sooner but I was a bit busy." She was going to draw this out and take her sweet time with it. If Lady Cortell wanted to push through, Kat was glad to drag her feet in the mud for a few minutes. And be extra dramatic.
Pulling out the flask that had some of Rosamere's hair, gathered meticulously from her greenhouse, and a few flakes of blood from a vial she must have cut herself one of the days before she disappeared. "You are going to to curse me, and we need it to be strong, so I gathered some things of her."
Still not the plan in full. Playing with the flask in her hand she looked between the two. She wasn't still sure if she trusted them, but this step would help show how the wind blew. "You'll use this wording to get it right."
Kat would offer out a scrap of paper to Lady Cortell. It read:
To curse this witch is a dream come true Kat Winter is long over due. To see through the eyes of the woman she wronged For a whole day make her suffering prolonged. Not able to sense a thing around her Not even able to make a stir. Whatever Rosamere Morrigan does see, So shall Kat no matter how much she pleas. It will all end at the same time morrow When her eyes will stop to borrow.

Gunne couldn't believe what she was hearing. Katerina had been to busy to come up with the - in het words - easy plan to possibly rescue Rosamere? The woman forced herself to keep her cool. The dramatics almost got the best of her, though. Gunne's nervous mannerisms and her growing annoyance were difficult to hide. But then there was some good news. She got to curse the damned witch. Of course, she would have preferred a curse of her own choice, but that wouldn't help Rosa any further. So the brunette just nodded. She thought to herself that the hatred the felt towards Kat would be more than enough to make sure the curse was strong, but for obvious reasons she didn't share this thought with the group.
Finally, after dragging it out way longer than necessary, Kat handed her a paper on which the curse was written for her. Gunne read the curse a few times before looking up at Kat. "And then what? You'll see what she's seeing, and then what?"
Before she did the curse, she just wanted a little bit more information. This couldn't be it, right? She wanted to curse Keelan to for dragging her into this. Not because of the situation, but because of the fact that Kat was also a part of it. But for Rosamere's sake, she would put their differences aside and pray to the Goddess that Kat would hurry up and tell them already what the next step was.
Kat didn't see why she should tell Gunne the rest of her plan. She had done nothing for the past few months besides sit on her ass. Even while off in Coheed she had been trying to figure something out. All this rich witch had done was drink tea and eat some crumpets. Even Keelan had gotten nowhere, but he was surprisingly more bearable to deal with.
"And then we know where she is. Or if she's dead and buried in the ground." Her words were short and to the point. Still not the entire plan, but they could always find another witch, Gunne was dispensable in this, Kat was not.

Gunne walked over to the desk, leaning her hands on them and bending over it to get her face closer to Katerina's face. "And then?" she asked through her teeth, jaw clenched. "Why would I even curse you for something as useless as that? We need to get her back and I want to know how. Now don't play dumb with me and tell me your plan. Didn't you hear Keelan? Put your feelings aside and don't be such a bitch about it, Winters."

Kat turned to Keelan, perfectly calm unlike the riled up bitch in front of them. "Control her or I'll take my plan elsewhere. I don't need you both Keelan, and you know it even if she can't see past her own ego." She wasn't going to deal with this. Keelan clearly cared for Rosa, but it seemed as though Gunne just wanted to make a fuss.

But could they do it without her? Who else were they going to ask to curse Katerina Winters to retrieve a long lost Morrigan? Nobody else seemed to care about Rosamere, and Keelan wasn't capable of cursing anyone. Even so, Gunne grunted and calmed down, but only because she wanted to get this over with so she could get away from the other witch. And the first line of the curse she was supposed to chant was definitely true. So Gunne looked at the paper again and began repeating the words on it.
"To curse this witch is a dream come true, Kat Winter is long over due. To see through the eyes of the woman she wronged for a whole day make her suffering prolonged." She looked up at Kat for a moment before continuing. She still felt disgusted with her and Fabian. "Not able to sense a thing around her, not even able to make a stir. Whatever Rosamere Morrigan does see, so shall Kat no matter how much she pleas. It will all end at the same time morrow, when her eyes will stop to borrow."
She crossed her arms and looked from one to the other.
Had Gunne not gone through with the curse, Kat had options, but it seemed as though the woman finally saw through her ego to the truth. She needed Kat to do this, even though she didn't know why. She was tossing the woman a bone to help at all get her cousin back.
So as the witch chanted, Kat took a few deep breathes. This was going to be the longest day of her life, either trying to take every detail in of Rosa's surroundings, or seeing nothing but the darkness of death. Either way it would not be easy to not have control over what she was seeing.
As Gunne got to the last couple of words, Kat shut her eyes, ready as she ever would be.
