The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Today was one of her free days, and since she is based in the castle till the situation with her parents. It was getting to dusk and the sun was setting, a perfect time for training. She oftern found that this time of day was normally quieter, allow her to have time to think about what going on. Freedom from what going on around her, she doesn't have to pretend to be something, pretend to be somebody she not.
When she got there is was quiet and a real, rare smile was on her face as she went to get bow and arrows starting practicing her shooting. During the camping trip she managed to come back with 9 pheasants. However she knows during that hunting trip she missed a few birds. if it was a real thing and not a small competition it could cost herself or somebody else their life. She want to be able to know that she can to the best of her abilities look out for the other soldiers.

Rhedara had finally been dismissed for the evening and despite her exhaustion and sore muscles, she decided to spend an hour or so in the training yard to unwind with a light workout to perk her up in preparation for whatever Abbott had in store for her the next day.
She had hoped to find the training yard empty, but she found that it was occupied when she arrived. She looked around to make sure that she wasn't about to intrude on an impromptu drill session, but only saw Zarha in the training yard, practicing her archery. She approached, making enough noise that she didn't startle her since it looked like her peer was focusing very hard.
"You're pretty decent with that bow," she said after watching Zarha for a while.

Noting That Rhedara was coming in, she give her a warm smile in her direction. Last time she saw her was at the training with Abbott. When she cursed the man. She thought that it was interesting experience. She carried on with her bow and arrows. After a few shots fired, she went to retrieve them hearing Rhe speak.
"Thank you, Shannon right? or is it the chicken curser?" She tried to attempt at a joke but it was really bad. "Yeah bad joke, bad joke." Giving a small laugh more at herself then anything else.

"Yeah, Shannon," she confirmed that Zarha had her name correct, returning the smile. When the other girl made the quip about the chicken curse, Rhedara groaned, "I'm never going to live that down, am I? One snap of my temper and now I'm Aldrich's stooge for the forceable future," she shook her head, "I don't recommend getting caught after cursing a superior officer."
She looked at the range again as Zarha collected her arrows. She wondered how long she'd been out here. Knowing her peer's habit of spending an excessive amount of time training, she wouldn't be surprised if she'd been here for a couple of hours, "Are you practicing for anything in particular?"

Zarha laughed softly as she rubbed the back of her neck, "It was pretty funny curse, timing could of been worked on, but it gave us soldiers something to talk about for a bit." She give Rhe a soft smile. Yes, she like training, it the only thing she knows she good at, she doesn't have any other talents, no other skills but to be a soldier. If she doesn't have this job, then she have nothing. No way to look after her brothers and sisters. She has to be the most logical.
She looked between Rhedara and the bows "Nothing really, however, a little training never truly hurt nobody. Want to join?" She put a warm smile on her face.

"Well I'm glad to be a source of entertainment for everyone," she said dryly, "At least the whole ordeal is good for something." She had been so afraid that she'd be booted from the military after her hard work to get in. She did NOT want to work on a fishing boat or who knows what else on the street. Sliva was right, her timing had been horrendous--especially since she had been dumb enough to give herself up.
Zarha offered to train together, Rhedara only had to think a moment before saying, "Sure. My archery could use some work," more training never hurt anyone. She found an extra bow in a nearby weapons rack along with some arrows and rejoined Sliva at the range.

"Umm I am sorry, that was meant to be a joke, i didn't mean to upset you or anything." Interaction with people her own age seems to be one of the hardest things for her. Why is she struggling? You would of thought that it be easier cause the people around her age she would of grown up alongside. Make friends Zarha. A simple task for most, but it feels like a impossible task for Zarha. She can do it right?
Zarha smiled when Rhedara said that she would join her. She waited for her to rejoin her, when Rhedara did she did a little happy clap excited. What the fuck is she doing. "You can go first." She seemed happy.

Rhedara waved her hand dismissively, "Yeah I know you were teasing me. It's still fresh is all," and it was. Enough time would pass that she would eventually begin to laugh through the cringe, and if she were honest with herself that passage of time wouldn't be as long as it should be. As horrified with her own actions as she was, cursing Abbott had been very satisfying.
Zarha had told Rhedara to go first, and she only gave a nod of her head as she got into position. Her muscles were sore from the extra work that had been placed on her, so her draw with shakier than she would have liked. She released the arrow and it his the outside edge of the target.
"Ugh," she shook her arm out, "No my best shot. Your turn."

Zarha stepped back as she watched as Rhedara aim her target. Her eyes was focused on her form as she took aim. "You can do it, just take a deep breath. You are a good soldier." Zarha give her best attempt at a warm smile as she stepped up to position and take a deep breath as she place the bow in place. Draining all the noise that is around her, zoning onto the target. It was her and the target. She let go and the arrow went flying, it didn't hit bullseye just off the enter.

"Thanks," she tried to stretch the ache in her muscles out while Zarha prepared her own arrow, "If I wasn't so tired I think I might have gotten a better shot."
She watched Zarha take the shot and smiled when it had nearly hit the bullseye, "Nice!" she said, giving a quiet clap of approval, "Maybe try relaxing your shoulders more. You might have been too tense."
It was her turn to take aim, and she took Zarha's advise and took a deep breath before loosing the arrow. It was maybe half way to the bullseye. Not bad.

Zarha laugh a little bit relaxing, "I don't know the last time I wasn't tense." ,Her laugh was filled with the fact that she was embressed to say it, however, it was semi true, last time she was less tense was before her brother died, plus everything in regards to her family, the investigation into her parents. Then looking after her brothers and sisters, making sure she ready for this up coming war. However, it been soo long that she forgotten how to relax.
When she step up again she try to relax her shoulders but she doesn't know how. So she shots again and lands in the same spot.

"Maybe you should learn to not be tense then," she suggested, "I admire how hard you work, but there is such a thing as doing too much. Give yourself a break, or find a hobby to relieve tension and you may surprise yourself," she plucked at her bow string, "When I have to relax, I make potions, or I treat myself to a hot bath." A hot bath with a few drops of the scented oils that her mother had saved from her previous life, her life before she had married her father.
She watched Zarha take the shot, hitting the same spot as before, "Well at least you're consistant," she shrugged, "Maybe we should try stretching a little? Might do us both some good."

At Rhedara comment there was a soft laugh. "Surprisingly, you are not the first person who said that." There was a soft smile. She thought for a bit, she never had a break, even when she was off duty, she was still training, she was still in soldier mode. She never had a off button for a while. Apart from when she was sleeping, or on patrol, she was thinking about training. When Rheadara explains she make potions or have a bath. "When you have four younger siblings a hot bath isn't always possible." it was true.
"I know I can do better then that." She was slightly annoyed. She takes a calming breath before she looked at Rhedara and nodded. "Yeah sure. It might help."

"Well if you can't do a bath, you ought to find something, or prioritize yourself a little more," she said, "I'm surprised you haven't collapsed yet as it is." she'd never seen Zarha do anything but train or be on duty...not that she really saw her much outside of her own duties, but she wasn't sure if she'd even caught sight of the girl in the mess hall eating.
When Zarha agreed to stretch, Rhedara nodded and walked a little ways from the targets, "Let's start with our arms then," she said before crossing her right arm over her chest, elbow unbent, then putting her left arm over the other one, trapping it. She held it for for three deep breaths before switching arms.
"Why are you so hellbent on constantly training?" she asked, "Are you wanting to make officer?"

Zarha give a soft laugh as she rubbed her neck. "I can't remember what that is like putting me first." It was the truth. Her parents are always away from home, so she stuck looking after her siblings. So when she wasn't training or on duty, she was making sure that her siblings are okay. Zarha guess knowing that they being looked after by their neighbor for the time being she could relax a bit more.
When Rhedara asked her why she was do determined on training as they was stretching she looked down. "Truthfully." Truthfully.... what is the truth, that without training she has nothing. She has no identity, she just a empty shell of the person she once was. "It the only thing I know I am good at. The only thing that I can keep my brother alive in my memory." there was the moment pause. "Without it... I am just Zarha. Nothing special."
