The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

"Putting yourself first once in a while is going to feel good," promised Rhedara, "Trust me."
She listened to Zarha try to articulate what she was working so hard for. She had to admit that, as a fellow commoner, she related a little to the aspect of being virtually nothing. After all, there was a whole side of her own family that would not acknowledge her existence, even when she could have benefited from the sheltering wing of her extended family when her parents and brother died. She did not know what she would do if she didn't have the military.
"That's silly," she said despite her own thoughts on the matter, "Being 'Zarha' should be enough. There's only one of you, right?"

'Feels goods' those words echo in her head. She always putting her brothers and sisters first that she forgotten what it feels like to put herself first. She had to put her family first, in her mind that the way it had to be. However, how could she look after her family when she kill herself from overworking. There was a twing of sadness in Zarha's eyes.
She carried on stretchering but there was a soft laugh when Rhedara said it was silly. "I don't know, I don't know who i am outside of training and being a soldier. I am Zarha the soldier never Zarha the person." She doesn't know if Zarha the person exist anymore.

"Well, maybe you ought to figure out who you are outside the military," Rhedara suggested, "Because one day you'll be out, and you'll need to figure out what to do. Better to have an idea now than to be adrift later."
If Rhedara were a better person, she would have felt like a hypocrite. Sure, she knew who she was outside of the army. She was the daughter of a fisherman and a disgraced noble. She had a knack for brewing potions, and she liked to be polished in her appearance. She wasn't sure what she'd do if she left the military...maybe she'd sell potions like her mother, she didn't know.

For Zahra she will always be just a soldier girl. Nothing more, nothing less. How can see be anything more. However, those would hit her like a tone of brick as she walked over to the wall and lean against it. "I knew who I was once however it feels that person is dead, it feels like I can't go back to that person and now I am scared to try." She looked towards Rhedarea.. "Maybe one day we can try and do something? Together? Maybe I will find something. It sounds stupid."

Rhedara, sure that her point had been made just listened to Zarha say a variation of what the girl had already said. Since her peer was continuing with a circular argument, she thought that Zarha probably needed to do more self reflection than physical training.
"Well, try to resurrect her," said Rhedara, perhaps too harshly, "All work and no play makes Zarha a dull girl, after all," when Zarha indicated that the two of them should do something together, Rhedara finished a stretch before answering, "Sure," she said, "Maybe we can gather ingredients for a potion some time soon."

Zarha doesn't care that Rhedara said what she said harsley, she has a point. She does need to find a way to bring the old Zarha back, the girl who would love going out and hanging out with friends. The Zarha that would do more than just train every waking moment she had. Like she is a witch after all. How was she suppose to get better if she doesn't care for herself.
"Yeah that sounds fun." She wanted to try and find out who she was outside of work. Like she could be a dull Zarha but if she doesn't try how would she know. How could she more then just a dull Zarha. No, she not just a dull Zarha, she not just a sweet girl. She will not accept that, there have to be more to her then that.... right?

"It does," Rhedara agreed. Gathering ingredients was usually something she did in solitude, but it would be fun to have a companion for a change, "Abbott has me busy for the next few days, but maybe after the ball we can meet up for something," She'd been on her best behavior since the cursing incident. She was hoping that things would loosen up more by then.
"Wanna try shooting again?" her arms felt better after some stretching.

Zarha smiled at the thought of a idea of doing something more then just training. She need to get out of just the girl who trains alot. Just Zarha, she has to be more then just Zarha. They have to be something under this armor that in a way she have been hiding under since she was sixteen years of age. She might have to take a risk and do stuff that scare her. Doing something that not training indeed scares her.
"Of course, I can't remember the last time i made a potion, I guess it has never been something I paid too much attention to." It was truthful like when it came to magic she paid more on incantations and summoning. She do sometimes love summoning they can be fun to say the least.
"Yeah we should try shooting again" She finished her stretches as she got her bow and arrow that she placed down and goes to where she stood before and take a shoot this time getting the bullseye.

Rhedara was baffled that Zarha would not have paid any attention to potion making. She herself loved it. It was one of the things she had enjoyed doing with her mother. And as she had told her peer earlier, she regularly brewed potions to relax, “Well, we’ll have to brush off your skills then.”
When Zarha his the bullseye, she smiled, “Good!” Was all she said before she took her place. Her arms felt better now that she had worked some of the soreness out, so her aim was more sure than it had the previous times she had shot. She still wasn’t close to the bullseye, but it was still a decent shot.

When Rhedara suggested that she brush her skill off she smiled weakly, that brush would be a lot of brushing because there was a lot of dust on the potion making department. "I guess so." She laughed softly as she rubbed the back of her neck as she thought for a bit. She was looking forward to it indeed. She knows this will be good for her and she is looking forward to potentially having a friend. A friend? She never realise how lonely she have became because of her actions. Maybe that why she does a lot of training because she is lonely and forgotten how to socialise, what it is like to interact with other people, especially those her own age.
Like her and Rhedara are the same age, they trained together during mandatory training from the age of 12. "I was indeed better at having fun when I was fun, Remember how me and my twin brother caused so much trouble when we was kids during training?" There was a soft smirk on her face. "We was planning on cursing that one instructor one time. However at that time I didn't know any curses." She smiled softly.
She watched as Rhedara took aim and got closer. Her eyes looked at her body and she softly sighs as she walked over and stood behind her softly placing a hand on her hips and if she allows her softly turn her to a better position. "Try this."

Zarha asked Rhedara if she remembered the antics that the twins had gotten into. She thought back to her training years, remembered the twins and their mischief, “You both did give our instructors the run around!” She smiled, “Too bad you didn’t curse any of them…I wouldn’t be the only one outed for it then,” she knew she couldn’t have been the first witch to curse an instructor out of spite and loss of temper, “If you could curse that instructor now, what would the curse be?”
She let Zarha adjust her position. She drew another arrow, aimed, then loosed it and was rewarded with getting much closer that time, “Ahhh, I see,” mused Rhedara, “Thanks.”

There was a true, rare laugh from Zarha laugh, it felt really nice to laugh like this, she has missed the feeling of just being happy. "It was truly my brother who was the mastermind of all the trouble that we came up with." She smiled, it was sad that he was longer there with her to help her to enjoy the finer things in life and cause trouble. "Yeah maybe one day I will curse somebody just for the fun of it."
When Rhedara asked her if she could who she would curse a instructor now who she would pick. "Possible Officer Carrillo. He seemed to really have it out on me, from the first day I walked into the military wing. I swear that he made me run about ten extra laps then everyone else for the pure fun of it. I smile, run, I breathed, I run." Sometimes she wish that she can put a curse on him that he will run none stop for hours, and see how he feels about it. There was a dark twinkle in her eyes one only a witch would know.
Watching softly as her hands resting softly on Rhedara's hips as she pulled back on the arrow and get closer. "Just relax, you got this, try again, you a powerful witch feel that energy though your body."

“Well I don’t recommend it unless you’re sure you can get away with it,” said Rhedara on the subject of cursing, “And don’t do it to Abbott while I’m around. He’ll blame me, and then I’ll have to come after you.”
“Hmmm…I think Officer Carrillo just had a personality that made him seem very punchable,” she shrugged, “I don’t know anyone who didn’t want to take a swing at him by week two.”
Rhedara made a face, when Zarha moved closer to her as she pulled back the string, “Could you step back?” She said, lowering the bow. She appreciated the help, but she felt uncomfortable with all the touching, “I prefer to not be spooned while I’m shooting targets.”
As soon as Zarha stepped back, Rhedara would draw, take a deep, steadying breath, and loosed the arrow, hitting just shy of the bullseye this time.

There was a soft laugh in her voice. "I will keep that in mind if I ever feel like cursing Abbott." There was a soft smile on Zarha face. However, Zarha has a feeling that she won't curse Abbott anytime soon. Yeah he is strict but in Zarha eyes that wasn't reason enough to curse the man.
"Yeah he was a interesting man Carrillo. Now and then I feel like I can hear his voice in the back of my head when I am doing laps. Made me want to work harder though to try and shut up. However that didn't work. I wonder if all that shouting he did was because at home he under preforms so he takes it out on us." There was a joking tone with Zarha well saying that.
When Rhedara asked if she could step back she felt a bit stupid as she didn't say anything as she stepped back and placed her hands behand her back. "That was a lot better." Her voice turned shy.

Rhedara snorted, “Now that is an image I did not need in my head,” she laughed before admitting, “Personally, I used to think the whole thing got him worked up for it. He seemed way too happy with himself at the end of the day.”
She noticed her friend’s sudden shyness, but ignored it to help the other girl save a little face. She’d expressed a boundary, and Rhedara was certain that Zarha would respect it.
“Thank you,” she said, stepping back to let Zarha take her spot, “I should get going soon, but I have a couple more rounds left in me if you’re game?”
