The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

“I do want to,” she said prissily, “which means you can call me Rhedara. And since we’re friends now,” she craned her head to look at him, “I can brew you something to help with the exhaustion the next time I have enough time to spend with my cauldron,” she smiled impishly, “I won’t even charge you.”
The look she aimed at Tor was as silent as it was outraged. Her eyebrows had risen toward her hairline, her eyes were wide and her lips were pressed tightly together. He just kept making those short jokes! Sure, her hand was a little sore after the little love tap she gave Tor, but did he really not feel anything? If they weren’t on patrol, she’d challenge him to wrestle or something. But she didn’t. Because they were on patrol and word of that would be would be worse than if it was reported that she were skipping instead of walking.
“Either your pain tolerance is really high and you’re messing with me, or I need to train more in hand-to-hand combat.”
"You have a potion for that?!" Tor asked with surprise and relief. "That would be great, thank you! It must be really satisfying to know magic and potions to help with things in everyday life. I thought it was mostly big flashy stuff like making people cluck..." He added with a dimple peeking grin.
Deliberately, he dropped the smile and tried to look seriously at her while she obviously struggled to maintain her temper at the little comments. When she shook out her hand in pain from her ineffective punch, it took all his self control not to outright laugh at her reaction. He REALLY wanted to say because you're so tiny, but he knew there was a limit to the teasing that Rhedara could take.
"It -must- be a high pain tolerance then obviously..." Torsten winked at her, again attempting not to give in to laughter. "So just how fearless and skilled are you at combat training Rhedara?"

“Sure there is,” she said, “They’re not all healing potions, love potions or fire breathing potions. I’m going to make you a fortitude potion. You might know it better as ‘liquid courage’ though…I wouldn’t recommend drinking more than one, and don’t accept one from someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing either!” she decidedly ignored the clucking comment.
“Don’t patronize me,” she said even as she cracked a smile.
“Fearless,” she said, “or reckless? I’ll take things head on for sure…although I’d run away screaming from Lassiter. As for combat training,” she shrugged, “standard sword practice, but I focused a lot on magic.”
"I didn't know that! So you must know a lot of potions and brewing and things huh? Magic sounds pretty complicated to me. I really would appreciate it though. You're one smart cookie Shannon."
He knew witches did magic, everybody in Nevermere did, but whatever actually went into the making of potions, brewing and magic went right over his head. She was probably the tiniest person he'd ever met, but she never let things get her down. Despite all they'd been through together recently and the blatant bullying, Shannon had a spark of life to her that was unique.
"Patronize you? Never!" Tor put up his hands in mock display as if terrified of her. "I wouldn't dare!"
He watched her as she spoke and couldn't help but wince and grimace in total agreement. Lassiter was inhumanly terrifying!
"So what kinda magic do you work on most? I know there must be lots of kinds if you can identify something like a Fortitude potion. Must take a bit of brains to do that kinda stuff. I think I'll just stick with being a mute pack mule. "

She shrugged, ““I work on potions mostly…curses are fascinating, but my passion is in potions,” she said, “My mother made them a lot and she taught me,” it was the only thing her mother never burned over a fire, “For me, potions take more patience than brains…but you learn pretty fast to be more patient. A botched potion is not an experience you want to have twice. Trust me,” she shivered.
“It’s all a little complicated, but once you get the hang of it it’s not so bad mostly.” Summonings were a different matter, but she wasn’t about to talk about those, “You should come to my place sometime and you can help me make your potion…it’s nice to have extra hands with fortitude potions. My landlady should be there, so tongues shouldn’t wag.”
She gave him a pleased smile when he complimented her intelligence, “I know,” she said, “I’m also very humble.”
"Yea that sounds like an idea. I never really got to see magic up close before, so I have no idea how it works."
At Shannon's mention of tongues wagging, it took him literally a few minutes to figure out what she meant, his face contorting into funny expressions as he thought about it. Why would that be? What was there to worry about? Shannon was like having a sister again and.. oh right. Propriety. Rules. Nevermere etiquette.
"We should definitely set up a time to meet." Tor answered thoughtfully.
A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth at her sassy comment. Despite Red being the tiniest person he'd ever met, she was the fieriest person he'd ever known and she didn't let anything get her down for long, no matter what.
"Yea, so humble. The most humblest of all of them."

“Well you are in for a treat!” She exclaimed, “You will have a front row seat. Come a day or two after the ball. I’ll have everything ready to start by then. I don’t live in the docs anymore, but I’m close,” she gave him the directions to where she lived, “I rent a room from an old family friend, but I can use the house like it’s my own most days as long as I clean up after myself.”
She watched his expression change and didn’t bother trying to hold back her laugh, “Am I that repulsive to look at, Tor?” She teased, “People will say that I corrupted you, probably.”
She looked away from Tor and saw the castle gates looming ahead of them, “Back already,” she looked at Tor again, “Time flies when you’re having fun, right?”
Once they reached the gate and passed the soldiers who would be taking over their shift, Rhedara would smile up at Tor, "I guess I'll see you later then," she'd give him a little wave before walking away to whatever duty she had to do next.
