[ For @keion ]
Much of Bowen's day to day work might not have looked like work at all through the eyes of others. He simply...wandered. He would walk the streets in plain clothes, his hands swinging energetically by his side, his resting scowl quickly replaced by a wide grin every time someone made eye contact or spoke to him. Those who didn't know him very well might look twice before moving out of the way, but many of the people in the streets were familiar with the friendly Minister.
Of course, he wasn't simply wandering, but there were few people who would know that.
His day began early, as did the days of many. His breakfast was had in his office at the palace as he did his mornings paperwork, his least favorite part of the job, he always reminded his assistant. Lunch was usually had with the group of children he was helping teach, spreading enlightenment to others was a true joy of his. And mid afternoon, as with most others day, was free to be his. In a way. He left the palace with pep in his step, waving to an older woman who was entering as he was exiting. They exchanged smiles and he was off toward the nearest market to get himself a little snack. Big men like him had to eat a lot.
Up and down the streets, he went, exchanging hundreds of hellos and how are yous until we arrived at the market and eyed the many stalls to choose from. A favorite of his caught his eyes, a young man in a cart who generally sold these adorable, tiny little sandwiches. The things were cut into triangles and could fit into the palm of Bowen's hand, but he loved them all the same.
"Hello, my dear boy!" Bowen greeted the kid as he stepped up, not noticing another man nearby who had been waiting. It hadn't been intentional, the man had been just slightly turned away and so Bowen hadn't even given thought to the fact that he might have been waiting to order.
The younger man noticed Bowen, throwing a hand in the air. "Sir! Your usual?"
"Yes, please! Oh, you know, and could you throw in two of the cucumber ones? They're so refreshing." Bowen said, patting his stomach, excited just thinking about the snacks.
"Of course, Minister, coming right up."
