The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
As Kat prepared to step through the portal she heard the sounds of struggle and knew it wouldn't be necessary, closing it and getting ready instead. She wanted her pound of flesh. Even if Bex was already dead when the darkness cleared it didn't matter, Kat wanted to make her mark on the witch who turned Octavius, surging forward towards the noises.
So when the darkness cleared she screamed. "Traitor." And despite knowing the woman was dead she hoped she had heard her anyways. Some part of her. Her knife attempted to swing for the dead woman's body, anger written on her face.
Warren had managed to grab Bex by the arm before she could slip away. His attempt to pull her down to the ground had failed between her forward movement and the chair between them, but as soon as he had the chance, he had kicked the chair away and held onto the woman as tightly as he could.
She retaliated, as expected, and though twisting her body to pull her arm free hadn't caused him to lose his grip, she had successfully swept his legs out from under him. His fall might have knocked the air out of him if there was any, but he had managed to hold on to her just long enough. As the guard of witches descended upon her, Warren released her arm. There was no escaping them, and he would only be in their way.
Still on the floor, he pushed himself up into a sitting position and gasped when the woman died and the air finally returned to his lungs. Tired eyes watched as Kat Winters lunged for the already dead woman. He understood.

The chaos around them erupted. She coiled and prepared, the summoning at her back did just the same. Feeding off of the witch who summoned it. Yet the guard did their job, they rushed forward and without much more fight, it was over. So quickly… was Bex really the one who had acted out at the ball? Was it over that easily? Or was she just one of more?
“Everyone back to line,” her voice cut through the sudden silence, though a touch of sympathy shown as she looked at @katerina. While she might still not be cleared herself, she was the King’s Witch. Surely the guards would handle Bex’s body, but the rest were not dismissed. Not as her eyes turned back to Hadrian Usher and Cassian Rainecourt, looking for a possible different direction to be given if they deemed this over. Her summoning not released. Instead it hissed at her side and coiled its towering figure behind her.

Hadrian did not intervene. He let Katerina rush forward and do as she liked. The guard witches would allow her a moment, but after a time, would pull her back. Hadrian looked around the room. Seeing the hovering summoning, he looked over at Alys and gave her a small nod. It was over.
“Take her away,” Hadrian said to the guards that now stood about her body. He then turned to the paired witches, eyes softening but tone doing no such thing.
“You are dismissed. Go home, get some rest. Return to the training yard at dawn. Winters—” His eyes went to @katerina, “See me first thing tomorrow.” He would wait for the witches to start leaving before he would look to @warren. “Make arrangements for the boy’s body is returned to his family. Come see me when that’s been done.”
He would wait for them to leave before he spoke to Cassian Rainecourt, jaw tight as he looked with disgust on the body of @bex.
