The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Ghayth Orvar had provided her with useful information when she had encountered him in the woods a few days prior. A mischievous smirk still formed on her face as she thought back to the night. She had claimed a non-Gifted as her property. The mark on his shoulder would remind him that he now has to serve her and that everything he did, he did for her. His life was in her hands, and she quite liked that. The man had told her about the community meeting and what lord Allemeade had told the Lady Steward: he was building a community for Gifted. As a Scorza, it amused her greatly that even after everything that had happened to the Allemeades, Remiel still tried to build up the family again. In her opinion, they were all idiots. If they had ran like the Scorzas did back when the Eldouir turned on them, they wouldn't have had so many losses. Survival of the fittest wasn't something that the Allemeades concerned themselves with, it appeared. Acacia didn't even know how many Allemeades were still alive, but she would soon find out.
With a little bouquet of flowers in her hand, the woman descended from the carriage and walked towards the gates of the Keep. She stopped when she encountered people at the gate. "Good afternoon", she said with her red lips in a smile. "I'm Acacia Barlowe, I'd like to see lord Remiel Allemeade about this community he's building. I was inspired by the words he spoke at the meeting."

Remiel was completely alone. Luna was dead, Bryce was never here, and Honora was gone too left behind a note. A fucking note, he was supposed to trust her and to an extent he did but she left. They either left or died any more. He was working bitterly hammering a nail into what would be a cabinet for Bryce's place, when he missed the nail smashing this thumb and pointer finger, "bitch," he stood up shaking his hand before realizing....why was he doing this? And sending a heavy boot tip through the cabinet door blasting it into splinters. The hammer still in his hand was turned into a demolition hammer as began to wreck everything he'd already built.
It felt good. And when he stopped he felt bad. Guilty. He dropped the hammer when he heard someone shout inside, "hey boss..uh Remi...some little lady is here to see you."
Removing the tool belt and nail pouch from around his waist the disheveled Allemeade swiped a hand through his hair and composed himself. After a few minutes Remiel exited the house the workers the young lady had brought her to where he was the worker introduced her, "Remi this is Acacia Barlowe," Remi gave a gentle smile, "Well met misses Barlowe guess you know who I am, but please do just call me Remiel or Remi," the worker having done his just diligence walked away.

The men at the gate looked at each other before returning their gaze to her. "Uhh, sure. Follow me, I'll bring you to him." She lifted up her skirts a bit to prevent them from getting all muddy as she followed the worker, who would be showing her where Remiel was. Without saying much, she continued to walk and look around, taking in the surroundings. If things went wrong, then she at least had a mental picture of the estate and where the buildings were located.
"Wait here please", the man said once they were standing outside of a house that was still in the process of being built. Cassie smiled softly and nodded before folding her hands in front of her, rubbing them together to keep them warm. Eventually, a blonde, tall man came out of the house and the worker introduced her. She hid her annoyance, but she was more than capable of introducing herself and didn't need this nobody worker doing it for her. But she kept that smile on her face, hiding all the negative thoughts she was thinking behind a bright smile and kind eyes.
"Nice to meet you, Remiel", she responded after he had said that calling him by his first name would do. "You can call me Acacia then", she added. Quickly, she thought about what she wanted to say and formulated the sentences in her head. "I heard about this place at the meeting but I didn't get the chance to speak to you then", she said, which was a lie. She hadn't been at the meeting in the first place, but Ghayth had provided her with the information she had missed out on. "I think it's horrible that marchioness Kane reacted like that. This is a wonderful idea, and I was kind of hoping that there was room for me." She looked at the ground, pretending to be shy. "I understand that you want to protect the Gifted and help them? I'm so afraid to be alone these days as a Gifted." Acacia shook her head, acting like it was all becoming a bit too much. She even managed to force a little tear out of her eye and quietly wiped it away with her gloved hand. "I have barely ever used my Gift, I don't want to risk getting murdered because of it."

This was a fair surprise for Remi and it showed as much, so far only one Gifted had approached him (Ikisina) about Gift training but not about living at the Keep. Or maybe he was misunderstanding her which is why he decided that it was best to inquire more information, "I didn't know I was heard you're the first Gifted to show up," he wasn't going to mention Navarro yet or at all for the moment, "Lady Kane probably scared them off,"probably before she went to terrorize a little village of children was the unsaid intrusive thought in Remiels head however the woman's name was said with some acidic under tone, "Care to walk with me?"
For the most part Remi trusted the few workers on the farm but for Acacia safety it was best to discuss and potentially gauge what the young woman's gift was. If she decided to follow Remiel would walk toward the back corner of his property where the trees were the thickest.
"I got a few questions of course, when you say 'room for you here' what do you mean? I know if you mean to live here I got space and I got work if you need it. Are you registered?" that was a rule he had mentioned at the meeting, to cover his ass with the Crown about who was Gifted at the Keep and what they could do.

Acacia faked being surprised and brought a hand towards her chest as if the news really shocked her. "Really? I thought the place would be swarming with Gifted by now." She heard what he said about lady Kane and nodded. His issue with her was far more personal than the issue Acacia had with her. That lady Kane spoke a lot of helping, but she hadn't seen any proof yet of her impact. Just another worthless non-Gifted, if you asked her. "Of course", she responded when Remiel asked her to walk with him. She lifted her skirts again, although it wasn't too muddy here. The ground was frozen solid, so after a few steps she dropped her skirt again, allowing it to touch the ground.
She had expected that he would bring her to an office of some sorts, but instead they ended up near an area where the trees were thick and dense. You can take the boy out of the forest, but can't take the forest out of the boy, she thought.
She nodded when he mentioned having a few question. It was only fair and logical, although Acacia wouldn't have expected him to be the logical kind of man. "I'm not completely sure what I meant either", the woman said with a sigh. "I have my own manor outside of Loren, but I feel afraid when I'm home alone. I don't even trust the servants. What if they're out to get me? If possible, I would like to have a spare bed here for those days and nights that the fear consumes mee too much to be alone. I've heard how well you fought when they attacked the farm. It's an admirable achievement, Remiel." She smiled shyly, wishing she could blush on command to make it even mor convincing. When he asked if she was registered, she nodded. "Of course", she lied. "I wouldn't want to risk getting arrested." How would he be able to check, anyway? The registry wasn't openly accessible to just anyone.

Remiel didn't much talk about the farm attacks, it was a bitter angry regret that had long imprinted on his soul a memory that bled in his brain. His actions that day (or moreso his families) were met with so many mixed reactions: people who thought he was brave, those who thought he was a monster, and those that believed he could have handled it differently. So many choices had been made so rapidly Remi was ever sure he had done anything right.
"I wish I could believe that myself," he said heavily, without a smile but his eyes gave way to the truth. Confliction, guilt, and more.
"But anyways, living accommodations I can see that you have a place we'll look at what's completed shortly. Good job on the registration, that's a good first step and I know registration is intimidating to say the least but what I want here, to make this work, is full transparency with the Crown for the sake of trust," as they approached the thick forest part a small path of brush and limbs parted for them revealing a worn path directly down they would see a clearing or what appeared to be a camp something one couldn't see when the path was covered, "This is where I stay, if you don't mind I would like to see what it is Gift wise that you can do Miss Barlowe."
If she followed Remi this time would offer her an arm so he could guide her properly through, assuming she took the offer they would continue. It was a little over sixty paces from the entrance to the clearing: it looked exactly like a campsite but a few oddities would catch people's eyes. First were shelves lining up against the tree line, they were stacked with folded clothes and canned foods. Second a still small burning camp fire in the center fixed with two small trees on each side so that a rod could be laid across and a pot suspended over it for boiling or cooking. Third was the Remi constructed shelter just a few feet away from the fire where a hammock was strung between two trees, a tarp was fashioned over that with thick branches to keep out rain or snow. Last was the shrine to Luna over her grave, the one he dug himself and laid her in, covered clearly by a flower that shouldn't grow in the winter season: the luna hibiscus.
Past his bedding and the memorial the trees opened further revealing another clearing, this one was covered in dark green grass. It was, he hoped, to be where he brought all the Gifted in the future to train. Acacia was the first to see it. Again if she followed this was where Remiel was taking her.
"I'm sorry you have to be afraid Acacia, truthfully we shouldn't have to be but I think to prove this we have to understand what we can do...fully..." he paused so she could decided for herself what she wanted to show or didn't, if at all.

The attacks still had a hold on his consciousness, it appeared. She could tell by the look in his eyes that it ate away at him. But lingering on it also wasn't something that he did. He quickly changed the topic back to living at the Keep instead of spending more time talking about the attack.
"It was definitely intimidating", she responded. "That Lady Saelim is not very welcoming. Makes you wonder why they didn't give another Gifted the job." She had heard many things about Mara, but hadn't met her yet. Rumour had it that she was very stern and uninviting when someone went to get registered. Another failure on the crown's behalf. The darker-skinned noble followed the blonde man. A path appeared that led them to a camp, the one Remiel apparently stayed at. When he mentioned wanting to see her Gift, she hesitated for a moment. Not because she didn't want to show it, but because she couldn't fake having another Gift than the one she had. If she showed her true Gift, she would have to kill Remiel, or at least break him in a way that would force him to serve her until the end of his days. Luckily, she quickly thought of an alternative because she needed to learn more about the Allemeades and the Keep.
She happily (read: happily on the outside, not so happily on the inside) put her hand on his arm and allowed Remiel to guide her through the forest, along the path. Her eyes wandered over the shelves, the piles of clothes, the fire and all the other things they passed by as they were walking. They were obviously well prepared, but still in a primitive starting phase. They were still in the process of building homes and structures. Her eyes lingered on the shrine for a moment. "I'm sorry for your loss", Acacia said, squeezing the Gifted man's arm slightly. Who was it again that had died? She couldn't remember. But it was one Allemeade less.
They then encountered some kind of a training yard. The grass looked lush and green, even though it had been snowing and freezing. It was a beautiful spot in the forest, and she was genuinely impressed by it.
Once they were standing on the field, Remiel spoke again. "So you think there are some Gifted that we should be more afraid of than other's? Like... The Eldouir?" If she was understanding him correctly, he meant that the Gifted didn't have to be afraid, but that there were also some Gifts that had to be understood thoroughly before one could move fast their fear. After his response, she would let go of his arm to demonstrate her Gift. She had decided on pretending that enhanced strength and night vision were the only aspects of her Gift. There would be no mention of Spider Physiology. Acacia looked around and her eye fell on a tree that had fallen or had been cut down. It was quite a young, or small tree. She bend over and picked up the tree, holding it above her head with ease. "Some say it's a useless Gift because it reminds them of the strength the Cambrians have, but I'm not even as strong as they are." She dropped the tree again. "But I also have good night vision. This aspect of my Gift is easier to hide." She stepped closer to Remiel again. "I think I used to be an owl or something in my previous life", she chuckled. She then became more quiet again. "So, what do you think?" Acacia asked, pretending to shyly look at the ground.

"Not as sorry as I am," he thought to himself but he didn't reply verbally just a simple nod and a kind smile, like the attacks Remi didn't talk about Luna either. She wouldn't ever had want to been looked at like a martyr or anything grand Luna was simple and beautiful and quiet. She was perfect.
Before he could answer her question Remi pondered on it (because it wasn't a simple answer) while she showed her Gift, strength and night vision, and he even laughed at her previous life comment.
"Then I was a tree," he joked back crossing his arms, "or a radish, probably a potato. Anyways that was impressive, always room to grow and hone that Gift if that's what you are aiming to do?"
He had t forgotten about her other question but he had to move past this, Remi had other questions of course the box ticking kind.

She politely chuckled when he joked about what he would have been in his previous life as well. The question about the dangerous Gifts wasn't answered, but Acacia knew better than to push her luck. She appeared hesitant when he asked her if developing the Gift was what she was aiming to do. "Eventually perhaps, yes. It depends on how the Gifted are treated. Maybe a weaker Gift will make them go easy on me of they turn against us completely again." She smiled weaky at Remi.

"do you think that's what will happen?" he asked the young lady, genuinely curious, "because if that does happen, I don't think being seen as weak or strong will much matter, you are Gifted. That's the problem period."
It had never been about power and how strong or weak a Gifted was, it was about them having power period the non-Gifted didn't like that.
"if you aren't wanting to do anything with your gift though, that's fine I'll support it. I can't promise you that things won't be rough to start as you know a lot of push back comes from this, my name isn't what it use to be if it was anything but I can't do this alone," he unfolded his arms, "What do you do for a living Acacia?"

"I don't know what I should think", she sighed, pretending to be oh so fragile and lost. She was well aware that nobody cared how Gifted you were. They just cared if you were Gifted.
She beamed at him again once he was done speaking. "I don't care about what they think", she replied, not stating who 'they' were. Where they the non-Gifted? Where they the citizens of Lorendale? Who knew? She inched closer to him, so they'd be in a decent, private distance from each other, but not yet an intimate distance. "I know what you've done for your people, Remiel, and what they've made of you, but you're a hero. You're the man we need." She smiled and looked around when he asked her what she did for a living. "I sell flowers. I'm a florist." Her eyes would linger on some flowers before turning them back to Remiel.

Remi wish he felt like a hero, he wished more Gifteds had come forward to be a part of what he wanted for them. Ikisina and Acacia were the first to approach him since before the farm attack so he figured it was a place to start for them.
When she mentioned being a florist Remi finally smiled as the field around them went from lush green to covered in all kinds of different flowers. It was a splash of bright colors all around them with big healthy blooms on each, "I'm a bit of a florist myself," he joked as best as he could, "I use to also feed half of this kingdom, my gift had always been viewed as peaceful before I sought Hiram Eldouir out to train me. He broke me down and built me up," he was now ready to answer her previous question, "I don't think we should fear our own kind...I think the non-Gifted are more of what we should fear..."

She smirked when Remiel turned the field into one full of flowers. It went to show just how delicate a Gift could be as well. If she had been another woman, this would have won her over, and she sure pretended like it made her happy to see all those little flowers but on the inside she knew he was just trying to swoon her. Acacia laughed at his joke. When he mentioned Hiram though, she became a tad more serious again. "You- you trained with him?" she asked, pretending to be shocked by the news. "All I've ever heard my whole life, both from Gifted and non-Gifted, is that the Eldouirs are dangerous." Can't be that dangerous if Remiel Allemeade is still around she thought. She was aware that she was underestimating Remiel, but he still had to really surprise her. "But didn't he turn on you? He was here during the attack, right?" Playing dumb a little longer.
Post by Remiel Allemeade on Mar 31, 2023 20:24:40 GMT -5
"I lived with them, personally trained by Hiram and he broke me down, said it was to beat out my weaknesses, nearly killed me," he could reminisce about that time and still appreciate what he took away from the Eldouir, Myla, and he could also disagree with some of what he learned, "I turned on him first. I put my trust into the Crown that day, I believed if I stood up against Hiram I could be a hero. I could be what our kind needed," he shrugged and looked at Acacia, "well you see where I'm at...where our kind is. His appearance and actions that day were to just to return the favor...but it's funny...The Eldouir if we go by historical facts betrayed my family first, and our own kind. I just kept it going..."

She sighed when he shrugged to empathize with him, even though the Scorza's disappeared when the Eldouir turned on the crown. "Then it's good that you're starting over here. Unity within our community will definitely help give us a voice. Or at least I hope." She looked around for a moment. "So, Remiel, what's next for me then? I've shown you my Gift. Where do we go from here?"
