The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
The body and the personal belongings of Count Gideon DeCarlo had been surrended to the late count's wife Lorelei, a painfully heartbroken and greivng wife. It had all came from left field and the men who delivered his body kindly refused the widow any reason to look at him (someone in the family had already paid for the pine wood box and the drapery of the DeCarlo family shield that rested over it). She had been pouring over Gideon's Will when a section in detail described the contents of a box in storage willed to his sister Santiana DeCarlo . She immediately sent for her sister in law.

Santiana would easily be located, sulking in a roaring fireplace, as was her usual comfort. Gideon knew better than anyone why it comforted her, but he wasn't there now. She missed him. He hadn't even been gone that long, but she missed him all the same. Her tears hissed as they fell upon the smoldering wood beneath her.
When summoned to visit her brother's wife, she didn't hesitate to hurry to her side. The servants would be left to put out the embers that dotted the carpet from her hasty departure. She'd be quick to meet Lorelei, and give her an embrace, if she'd allow it.
"I am so sorry for your loss, dear in law. I hope you will not allow this to encourage your departure from our home too quickly. I'd m iss you far too much if you were to move away." And she was one of the last connections to her brother that she had.
Lorilee had went to retrieve the said lock box described in the will as she waited for her sister in law, she would openly tell the world she loved little Santiana like a sister of her own. The box contained sentimental things that evidently Gideon shared as mementos of his life as Santiana's brother. Paintings from painting parties, small booties from when she was a child, and one still wax sealed letter addressed to Santiana.
Finally her sister in law arrived, as nice and as pleasant as usual, Lorilee used the tissue in her hands to dab at her eyes, "oh love we're not going anywhere, Gideon would want us to stay here and be here for you honestly...but sit, please I have Gideon's Will and these are your things," she grabbed the box beside her and handed it over then offered the letter from her lap, "Most importantly was this, the will detailed upon the death of the executor holding these contents that this letter and this box be given to you...it passed down to him through your parents."
She handed it over with a delicate smile, "It was very thorough about you getting this letter."
