The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Hadrian raised a skeptical eyebrow at Warren’s report. Spiked punch? It was a bizarre hypothesis. He’d had the punch and been perfectly fine; as had the king, as had everyone else. Yet only one had turned to violence, a few others too loose with their tongue. Hadrian resisted the urge to sigh. How had things gone so far astray?
“I’m meeting with Lieutenant Van Zant later this afternoon,” Hadrian reported, “I ask that you keep this theory to yourselves. If such a rumor were to start, it would only further agitate an already disturbed peace. Agreed?”
If Hadrian was going to speak with Kasper Van Zant about the issue, there was little more he would need to worry about. Although he had to admit he'd been a bit skeptical himself, he'd wanted to cover all his bases. If it was true, those who had carried out the deed would need to be punished as well and despite doubts, Warren could at least admit that he, himself, had not felt quite like himself despite having only one glass of the wine. A far cry from what it would normally take to push his tolerance.
"Yes, sir." He replied. "That is all I have, too."

Satisfied that their business had been concluded, Hadrian offered them both a nod of dismissal. The commander felt calmed by their meeting, but that calm quickly returned to his previous unease. There was much weight resting on the shoulders of the two men who had just exited his office—whether they realized it or not. He had every faith in them, but soon all three of them would find out whether they were up to the task.
