The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

At the beginning of February 2022 the site will experience a 5 year time jump! The IC year will jump from 822 to 827! This gives us about 8 months to prepare our characters for that jump. We plan to host very intentional planning sessions to help everyone get their plots and characters ready for this! As of this moment, one thing you should all start considering is making sure the threads your characters are in are furthering your character's stories.
This summons was done secretively. Cassian didn't often put much effort into being covert, but for this meeting he did. Remiel would be made aware of the regent's desire to speak with him while he was away from the Eldouir estate. He'd meet Cassian in his office at the Rainecourt palace, as was usual for the regent's meetings, but he was asked to come at night.
Torches lit the space. Cassian sat at his desk. He was about to head home, to use his port key to return to Nevermere for the next day or two, but this meeting was one he wanted to be sure to have before he left. It was risky, and he wasn't seeking anyone's counsel on the matter...but it was the lowest risk to his Nevermerean soldiers. If this went wrong, however, he'd have to employ a more forceful approach.

Remiel had been pretty stunned to receive a summons from King Cassian Rainecourt, albeit nervous but mostly stunned by it. However as requested Remiel left set off from, naturally from there he would ride back to his farm. He missed the country air after all, his trip was spent half day dreaming about having his siblings all living under the same roof...
....his dreaming cut short, just as a certain red head came out of the farmhouse in this dream, when he was escorted before the presence of the King of Nevermere. He felt almost stiff in trying to be more Marquis than commoner farmer boy, "Your Majesty, sorry I seem so uh, sorry for apologizing," he bowed a little again before clearing his mind, "It is a great honor to be here," at least Remiel felt like it was, for him, "I am curious about what I can do for you though..."

Cassian extended his hand towards the chair across from his desk. This didn't have to be a long meeting, but it would surely take at least enough time to where the other man might prefer to sit. A messenger was out retrieving another person to join them in a bit.
"As I understand it, Marquis Allemeade, you have been residing at the Eldouir estate of late?" Cassian asked, and then gave the reason he was asking: "I have it under good authority that the family is in possession of a Coheed prisoner. Can you confirm this with certainty?"

He did take the seat as it was offered, hearing the question about his current living arrangement, then the reason, and it's follow up question.
"Yes your highness, a Coheed man came back with some Eldouirs. I saw him the one time and he was then forced to their holding cells, honestly haven't seen him since," he would never forget that day either as they had returned with a very pregnant but broken Bryce.

Confirmation. So then, the Chieftain was not wrong in what he had claimed. This was both good and bad. Good because then Cassian could return the brother. Bad because the brother was caught behind Eldouir walls. No one went behind those walls. It was a death trap. Cassian had heard the rumors of the redheads and what they did there, how they trained their family members, even the children. It was a dark place, as far as he was concerned.
"I need that prisoner." Cassian said blankly, not beating around the bush. Something about this Allemeade's presentation conveyed that he'd do better with a straightforward approach anyway. "He is important in Coheed, and I've made it my task to return him to his home. Do you think you can get him out and bring him to me?"

"You need that prisoner?" Remiel repeated the question, a little bit confused but hesitant at such a task, "No offense your Highness but this could possibly be a suicide mission," after a brief pause Remiel nodded, "Do you have a plan for me? I'll do it."

Cassian kept quiet. He could tell Remiel was hesitant. He had every reason to be. Of course, he didn't yet know the extent of Cassian's plan.
"In fact, I do." And with perfect timing, the door to his office was knocked on. Cassian called for entrance, and a guard would enter, followed by Othello Allemeade. It seemed the regent had found a purpose for the gifted yet.
"I believe you two know of each other?" Cassian inquired, assuming that their common surname would attest to that. It was a redundant question, so he pressed on to say, "I have an opportunity for you that could lead to greater freedom." He was looking at Othello when he said it.

Othello hadn't been asleep when he had been summoned, after all he only needed a few hours in the evening to map, and the collared dog lumbered around during the night. Creasing the page he was on in his children's book the large man begrudgingly followed his guard, talking the man's ear off the whole time about how suspicious all this late night trapezing.
As much as he had hoped it was that beautiful woman from the training grounds summoning him for a good late night pounding, but sadly and most lacklustering of all it was the foreign King and another man, blonde hair and blue eyes, he was faintly reminiscent of his cousin Bryce. He didn't have a clue who the man was but Othello gave him that wolf smile and bowed his head.
With the mentioning of greater freedom Othello slapped his hands together, "Oh yeah! Wikid yer majesty, aye I'm in."

Remiel didn't know the man who entered, but his eyes were drawn to the collar that wrapped around his throat, then his eyes. Remi had seen those blue eyes many of times, at least the color, but again Remiel couldn't place a name for the unknown face. The man was in and Remiel shrugged turning back to the King, "We are in your majesty," the blonde turned back to their new guest offering a bow of the head, "I'm Remiel Allemeade pleasure to meet you..."

Cassian quickly deduced the error of his assumption; the men did not, in fact, know one another. It should have been surprising, but his knowledge of the history of the Allemeade family filled in those gaps.
"You are both Allemeades." Cassian said, cutting to the chase after Remiel introduced himself. He didn't want to sit here as the two had a family reunion. They could do that in the hall together if they desired.
"You are family." He emphasized. They weren't Eldouirs. "My hope would be that the connection would help you work better together. I need the prisoner that the Eldouirs have in their possession. I would like him by midnight tomorrow. Othello here is a metal manipulator. I should think that would greatly aid in removing the prisoner from his cell. Remiel here," he was now informing Othello, "lives with the Eldouirs. They let him come and go as he pleases. They likely trust him." And Cassian was asking him to betray that trust.
"I intend to put your Sister Ring in Remiel's possession so that you might freely use your gift at the estate. In the event that you are successful, I fully expect you both to return to the palace with the prisoner in order to receive your reward." He couldn't have been more clear. If Remiel showed up with the prisoner but without Othello then he would have failed Cassian.
Cassian opened a drawer of his desk and removed two vials. They were identical. He set them on the table before him.
"These potions will enhance your senses for the next twenty-four hours, giving you greater hearing and a heightened sense of space to help you in your endeavor. Please, drink." He'd watch them both, waiting for them to do as he asked. Of course, that was not all the potions did...

A cousin? A older brother? The man definitely looked older than either man standing there, but for now Remiel tabled the new family member and their possible relationship. King Cassian pressed on and Remiel nodded silently when needing, noting he was listening. He was also trying to process exactly what they were to be doing, going to the Eldouir home where still barely is aware of all the Gifted within those walls. He was processing how he was about to betray them, Hiram....Myla....and HER. He was still stewing about HER.
His nephew was there and his sister, so a mild panic seemed to set in, but also planning. This would have to be accurate and clean if they were to get in and get out without a fuss.
However, this was a task given to him by ROYALTY, that meant something? He did however know Remiel had been staying at the Eldouir home, maybe that was just it. Remiel took the vial offered and after a little once over he turned it up and downed it all.

Othello's first thought upon meeting Remiel and actually getting a good look at his face was that the man could almost be his twin! He missed bits and pieces of the boy looking king's speech as he stole little side glances at the blonde. However he did hear key points: Sister Ring in Remiel's possession....receive your reward...
That and the vials pulled Othello's full attention back to Cassian. He watched Remi take his with almost little hesitation. Othe wouldn't be one up'd by no one even family. He snatched up his vial and downed (if not almost swallowing the entire vial) it's twin colored contents.
"Hope it don'curle me sword, ammi'rite," he mumbled jokingly to his, 'family', Remiel.

Cassian watched them drink, and was satisfied. The one last perk of the potion that he neglected to tell them would be the inability to bring this mission back to Cassian. That is, if they were caught and questioned, they would be unable to mentally draw the pieces back to him. They would find themselves mentally blocked, stunted by the magic of the curse within the potion. It would wear off after twenty-four hours, but that was all the time Cassian would need if they were unsuccessful. Again, this was the least violent plan. Hypothetically, no one had to get hurt. If Remiel and Othello could manage stealth...
"Of course," Cassian said, in case these men were idiots, "I need him brought to me alive." He looked mostly at Remiel, because he did fully believe Othello to be a certain form of idiot. He'd reach into his still-opened desk drawer and procure a ring. Othello's sister ring. The king gingerly handed it over to Remiel.

Remiel took the item presented to him by the King and turned it for inspection, "Understood your Highness, alive," Remiel responded before tucking the item into his pocket safely and turning to look at Othello, "Ready?"
Othello simply nodded before Remiel left with his new family member he looked back at King Cassian, "Is there anything else before we go?"

Cassian's eyes followed Remiel's movement to put the ring in his pocket. In...his pocket? He was puzzled by the choice, and a little bit disheartened. If Othello got his hands on him... Cassian raised his eyes to the guard detail behind the man. They wouldn't peel off until they entered the streets of Loren. Cassian would be sure to have his back up plan in place. It wouldn't end well for these two, but in the end Cassian's goals would be achieved.
"Do not fail." He said simply, looking at Remiel with a serious expression, just a tick short of a glare. "That is all." He'd nod his head to them both.
