The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

In this moment, right now, Rosamere didn't think of herself as a Morrigan or Fred as a Delaney. But just Rosa and Fred, who were stealing a moment in time for themselves before they no longer could. The tenderness that he gave her, the affection, had her heart aching in her chest and she felt the faintest of prickling behind her eyes. She wanted to give him the affection that she felt, give him something of her as much as she could, and hoped that he could feel it in the kiss between them. She didn't want to take from him, didn't want to take something that he didn't want to give no matter how much she wanted to be so much more selfish that just this kiss.
The kiss was everything that he imagined it would be. He had dreamed of this moment for years and he was so wrapped up in it to think about the real world right now. It didn't matter that it couldn't last or that she was meant for someone else. In this moment he could just be Fred with the girl of his dreams.
One of his hands moved to her waist, holding onto her tenderly but full of want. He wanted to hold her close, to dance her across the clouds. A ray of sunshine seemed to peek through the clouds at that moment, shining on them with warm, heavenly light.

Rosamere's eyes fluttered open just enough and looked up at him through her lashes as she barely pulled back, her lips barely a hair's breadths away from his. Her hand that was resting on his shoulder moved to twist into the ends of his hair, while the other on his chest fingered the edges of his lapel. She didn't want to move from this spot right now, she wasn't even trying to move away. Rather, she was taking a moment to just look at Frederick, taking in everything about him in this moment with a soft, affectionate smile on her face.
She broke their kiss but didn't move far. He searched her eyes for any sign she was regretting the kiss but she stayed close, her fingers toying with his hair in a way that he found he really loved. She was still holding him close and he didn't move away at all. With his hand on her waist, his thumb stroked against her side softly as they looked at each other. She was so beautiful, so special. He loved her so much it hurt.
With his other hand he gently stroked her perfect, porcelain cheek with the backs of his fingers.

Rosamere was very much aware of where each of his hands were, could feel the heat of his hands on her skin and she didn't want this moment to end in the slightest. Fabian was sweet and all but he wasn't Fred, who she'd known for years and had a spark of hope in her chest that it would be the two of them until it'd been doused rather abruptly. Still, what he was willing to give her, she would give back to him just as much.
With a small smile on her lips, she raised her hand to catch Fred's along her cheek, which she was was blushing, and pressed her lips to the inside of his wrist.
The way she kissed the sensitive skin on the inside of his wrist had Frederick nearly melting into a puddle. He want to shout from the rooftops how much he loved her. He wanted to say those words to her over and over again but what good would it do? He felt like he could give her the world, he could make her happier than anyone else ever could. Even as someone as supposedly great as Fabian.
“Rosa,” he whispered her name worshipfully as he leaned closer to her again. His lips brushed against the corner of her jaw. “You mean everything to me. Everything.” He just wanted to take care of her.

Rosamere curled her fingers into his hair as her eyes closed, tilting her head just enough to the side without even realizing it, focused as she was on Fred himself. It was one thing to hear him say that he loved her but to hear him say that she meant everything to him. Words she'd only dreamed that she'd hear him say at this point and had her melting into putty in his arms.
"Fred, I want to be your everything." She said it almost like a prayer.
He wanted that too. Desperately. He wanted her to be his everything. His absolutely everything. But that also included being his wife and he had been too late for that. Too damn late. Would things have been different if he’d actually asked earlier? Would her father have accepted him? He wasn’t sure.
Yet even though it felt impossible he couldn’t help but wish it were true. And just the fact that she’d spoken the words at all was music to his ears. He moved to take her face gently in his hands and looked into her perfect eyes.
“Do you mean that?” he whispered.

Rosamere felt like this moment, this very second, was hinging on what she said next and she wasn't going to back off the edge of whatever cliff this was. Not when it was Fred. She looked him in the eyes, his gorgeous eyes, and poured all the sincerity she could into her next words.
"Yes, I do." They might've been soft spoken, just enough for only the two of them to hear but they were genuine and sincere.
His heart swelled at those three words as if it had been another three she had just spoken. "I want you to be, Rosa. I want to be everything to you just as you are everything to me." Still holding her face gently he leaned towards her once more and pressed his lips to hers, softly at first but increasing the depth and passion he showed her as they kissed.

Rosamere wasn't sure when it happened but she found herself in Fred's lap as they kissed and she wasn't complaining in the slightest as she brought her hands up to his chest. "Please." It was one word but she said it like a man in the desert seeing water for the first time, like it was her salvation.
While his intention to come here had been to offer his support when her fiancé went away, now all thoughts of the man were out the window. Right now it was only the two of them. His darling Rosa. He'd give everything he had for her. He kissed her deeply and affectionately and it was there, in a nestled hideaway among the roses, that they laid together for the first time and Fred, who was already so enamored by this woman, found himself completely obsessed.
