The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

One might think the worst part of all of this was that Fabian had cheated. But how it had happened was even worse. That's how they had started their secret relationship. It wasn't special anymore. That memory that she had thought was hers alone, and she wondered how many times Fabian had started sparring with someone and ended up naked in bed. She had known who he was marrying him, but he had said she was different. That she had a fire in her, and clearly that was something he saw in everyone.
Flinging the pants at Regan she was pissed off, mostly at herself though. "Why'd you stop it?" She made sure her voice didn't waver, even though she just wanted to throw the rest of the woman's clothes, boots and all into the fire. But she had made a deal, and she was true to her word no matter how trivial.

The tables were starting to turn. Despite the odds, Regan was starting to distantly feel bad for Kat. Not for what she’d done, necessarily, but for what Kat had suffered because of it. Regan had no understanding of how relationships worked, having not even been witness to one before. But she knew what hurt looked like, and she saw it now.
Regan didn't let it show, though. She just sat there, snatching her pants out of the air as her face started to go a little less sour. “Because…” Now the answer to this question was a little more complicated. Regan took a moment to cipher through it. To put all the disconnected pieces together in her jumbled little mind. “Because he didn’t want me - not really. I was just...there and he just got confused. Turned around. And I’m not tryna ruin anybody’s life over an upside-down moment.” Regan shrugged, wanting to be anywhere but here.

As Regan stumbled through her explanation, Kat's eyebrows started to crease. That didn't seem right, mostly because when Kat had been in that position she hadn't much cared. Stopping because it was the right thing to do was never a thought that had entered her mind. In fact it had been more fun later when it was a secret and something they shouldn't have been doing.
"Really? That's it?" Kat wasn't counting it as a question, just a clarification of the woman's jumbled answer. How was it possible that the naked woman in front of her had better morals. Probably because she never much cared about others, but that was besides the point. Picking up the woman's boots she prepared to toss them at the ground in front of the table. It certainly wasn't a lie even if it made no sense to her.

Regan was starting to get frustrated. Not with Kat, but with the fact that she wanted to lie down now and didn’t seem to be getting even a little bit close to making that happen. “Look,” Regan said, serious face coming in full force, “You saw him at the fuckin’ bar, drinking, whatever thing. Yeah, he got a little flirty because - I don’t know because he did because he could - but he walked right back to you, right?” Regan wouldn’t wait for Kat to say something, just long enough for her to remember.
“I wouldn’t flatter myself to think it was anything other than that. But only this time it’d be something he couldn’t take back, which is why I called it,” Regan shrugged, turning away from Kat and quickly putting on her underwear as if she couldn’t see if she moved fast, talking all the while, “I mean - take a good look. Obviously, I’m not some fuckin’ temptress that gonna make Fabian’s eye wander. It had nothing to do with me, or you for that matter. It was just something he did. Like when you have an itch and reach to scratch it without thinking because it feels nice. It’s not a calculated choice; because if it was, no way he would have kissed me in the first place. So if you want my two cents…” Regan had no doubt that Kat most certainly didn’t, but she was trying to vomit out as many words as possible on the off chance that they might be the right ones.
“He loves you. Clearly. And that’s a whole lot more than most people have. So yeah. Be pissed. Make him suffer. All reasonable. But at the end of the day,” Regan shrugged, “I wouldn’t think about it too much.”

Regan was probably just trying to help but she was making it worse. It didn't have anything to do with the woman scrambling to get dressed. That was something she could have dealt with easier. Fabian was completely at fault, and there was no other was to think of it anymore. She couldn't blame so unknown party, some witch who'd enchanted him, not that she ever really thought that was the case. She had been at the bar and it had been clear Regan wasn't the forward type in that way.
"Well don't expect a thank you for the advice or scratching my husband's itch." She had been right there waiting and he had decided to find it somewhere else in the middle of the fucking woods to boot. Tossing the boots on the ground near the woman's feet she had grown tired of this game. It was only making her more mad, which made her more angry, and she didn't want that. She was an island and didn't need to let anyone else in.
Taking a deep breath the only thing she held now was the shirt, the first thing Regan had asked for. Katerina now had a clear picture of everything, which was always for the best. "Last question. Do you regret stopping it?"

Regan had to resist rolling her eyes. No, she didn’t expect a thank you, obviously, but she did expect to be left the fuck alone in the future. She turned her back to Kat, slipping on her trousers, struggling a little with the button as her fingers just didn’t want to comply. She’d almost gotten it when Kat’s question made her stop midmotion. Now, this wasn’t something she’d been expecting.
Regan turned back to face Kat, arms crossed over her chest for modesty’s sake. She stared dumbly for a moment, trying to process the query with all the brainpower she could muster. “I don’t know,” Regan finally replied, grumbling demeanor replaced by defeat, “Like you said, I’m a beggar and a whiner. Obviously - cause this is what I’ve got going on,” She looked to the mirror, where the blindfold still hung limp, “At least when Fabian kissed me I could pretend it was…I don’t know…something real. Even though it wasn’t, pretending is nice.” Regan shrugged, hands still cupped over her chest. “Can I have my shirt now?”

Kat knew it was an odd question, but it was something she wanted to know. She didn't need to know, and partly it was because she wanted someone else to squirm other than herself. Regan had really picked the wrong day to show up trashed beyond belief at the Midnight House.
As the woman's eyes wandered to the mirror Katerina noticed the blind fold for the first time. Now that was interesting, and she'd almost wished she'd saved a question for that. But fair was fair and she held out the shirt for Regan. "A deal is a deal." She wasn't going to toss it though, so the woman was going to have to come get it. Just because she had been the one to stop things that didn't mean Katerina planned to make her life any easier.

Regan waited for her to toss it, hand outstretched as she tried futilely to hide beneath her other arm. When she realized that Kat was going to make her come get it, she huffed and grumbled, shuffling over in an undignified manner as she tried to keep her trousers from falling to her ankles. Regan snatched her shirt from Kat’s hands and slipped it over her head, this time not bothering to turn away. Let her look. Not much to see, anyway.
Once she’d tucked her shirt in, she still struggled with the button, swearing as her fingers kept shaking. “I know this probably isn’t the best time to ask,” Regan was partially stalling for time as she fought with the button, partially asking an earnest question, “But can you, uh, not bring up that I get up to the whole begging whining thing? Like to anyone? Ever?” Regan finally got the button, making a tiny sound of victory before she looked up at Kat, eyes big and expression sheepish. “It’s, uh, not a good look.”

Katerina didn't look down as Regan drew her shirt on. It didn't matter to her, and comparing herself to others was pointless. Fabian might have seen something he liked but that ship had long sailed for Kat.
As she stumbled through the next request. Which she wasn't sure how she had the audacity to ask for something after everything they had just talked about but it was almost laughable. "Who would I even bring it up to, you think I want people knowing about you at all? Your secret is safe, even from that hulking partner of yours." He was the only person she knew that seemed important to Regan, but really she had no plans of doing that. One thing she had gotten right was that it was neither of their faults.
Pouring a cup of water from a pitcher, she handed it over to Regan. "Now drink up so I can walk you out and hopefully never see you again, pending any more times you show up here in such a state." This was her free pass, the next time she was going to be out on her ass in the street if Kat was working.

Fair enough - Regan didn’t to be known, anyway. At the mention of Grant, she managed to turn red again. Excellent. She distracted from the fact by leaning down and pulling on her boots, not bothering to tie the laces, and instead just tucking them inside. Starting to get woozy, Regan took the cup she was handed and chugged it. There was a moment when she thought she was going to throw up but managed to keep everything down.
“Next time: sober as a judge, quiet as a mouse. Got it.” Regan picked up her cloak and slung it over her shoulders, pulling the hood comedically low over her face. “Alright. Let’s go.”

It was surprising just how red Regan's face got at the mention of the giant partner. She thought about prying but decided she had done enough for the day. Besides the woman was starting to look a little sickly and Apollo had asked her to make sure she was safe, not torture her. Whoops.
"Can you even see with the hood that low?" Especially with the untied shoe-laces, and only a glass of water in her. If she tripped down the stairs it was going to bring a lot more attention then just raising her hood a bit. She could probably catch her in the moment, but she wouldn't.

“Mostly,” Regan grumbled, “I can see my feet. So long as nobody sees me. That’s what counts.” She’d keep her hood where it was, waiting for Kat to lead the way.

Kat rolled her eyes but wasn't about to stop the woman from hurting herself. She wasn't Regan's mother, thank goodness for that, so if she wanted to act like anyone cared about someone being at a brothel so be it. "The world doesn't revolve around you, no one is going to notice you unless you make it obvious you're hiding." Opening the door she nodded at Apollo and lightly pushed Regan forward past her, ready to take the drunken soldier away.

Regan bristled, not trying to push her luck by responding too sharply. She shot Apollo a dirty look from under her hood, but he didn’t notice. Not that she could see him too well anyway. “I’m well aware of that, thank you,” Regan grumbled, about to add something else, but then thinking better of it. As not to prove Kat’s point for her, she stepped carefully down each stair, taking more time then was likely necessary. Not that she cared if she was holding Kat up - the woman could wait an ice age for all she cared.

Kat cocked her head to the side as Regan started on the stairs. She looked, well like a deer that was navigating a patch of ice. Picking up her feet so carefully, and so so so slowly. It was impossible not to laugh. "How trashed are you?"
