The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Catrin glanced at Miriel laying on the ground before huffing a breath and sliding her sword back into its sheath. She turned away, crossing her arms over her chest and staring out at nothing in particular.
"Because," she started, shaking her head, "If I cannot get us where we need to be as warriors, why would Kaalim continue wasting his time with the Parabolti?" She shook her head again. She wouldn't know in the coming days that Kaalim would no longer be the Chieftain of Coheed.
"And if the Parabolti are no more, then what am I left with again? Being the woman of Coheed who cannot even fulfill her one purpose of having children?" She scoffed, uncrossing her arms and turning back to Miriel, her mouth set in a grim line. "I will not go back to that, Miriel. I need the Parabolti to actually be something for Coheed."
Miriel wasn't sure why Kaalim would go back on his plans. He clearly had a different view of Coheed then his ancestors before him, one that she didn't quite understand, but that seemed to make some of her sisters happy. And it clearly meant a lot to Katrin, in ways she didn't understand.
"What do you mean? Not able to..." Trailing off the Coheedswoman was slow on the uptake but she quickly blinked away the confusion that had been prominent on her face. "We will be Catrin, most of our sisters are doing well with you. Besides I can take being the worst, the one no one wants to be." The bottom of the class.
Catrin huffed and waved away her sister's insistence that everything would be fine as well as how she spoke down on herself. "It is not just Kaalim we need to convince though, is it? No, we need to show all of the men here that women can be equally good warriors as them."
She waved again, shaking her head. She was tired of the negativity surrounding the Parabolti. "And I do not want to hear this nonsense coming from your mouth, speaking badly about yourself. You have no reason to feel badly or speak in such a way about yourself. You are one of the first women warriors of Coheed and regardless of how well you are performing, there is pride in that." She was not trying to console her sister, but simply speaking what she saw as facts.
"Can we though? We haven't trained since we could walk Catrin." It seemed a folly to think they could be the same. Maybe the plan was to train daughters of the future but for now there was hardly a comparison. How could they cover such ground in such a short amount of time?
Poking her sisters shoulder she laughed. "Who says I'm being down on myself? Worst of the best is still pretty good right?" And really she probably wasn't even the worst, she was out here training after all. The Parabolti just tended to be a bit more committed, and it was taking Miriel some time to get there. Protecting her family was an easy ask though, and so she would get there eventually.
Anger flared in her eyes again as her sister once again cast words full of doubt. She shook her head, ignoring Miriel's light-hearted poking and words. She had had enough for the day, of people and of training.
She took a few steps away, "You did better when you channeled your anger into your fighting. You should use that emotion more often." And with that she turned on her heel and walked away, determined to find solitude somewhere.
