He let her continued insistence go with a smile. He didn't have shit to prove to himself, but she didn't know that. He was plenty happy with himself. Sure, the stuff with Scout had been a little surprising. He had not been thinking entirely clearly that day when she kissed him in the courtyard and invited him, metaphorically, into her bed. But when it came down to him, to Dresden Drake, well he wasn't going to shame himself. He did what he wanted. Like he usually did. Worse things than a good lay had killed better men.
