[ For @alinore ]
With open court over and done with, what followed was the same as always. The Nobles would spend this time to chat amongst one another, to discuss what all had just happened, to speak of marriage proposals and further alliances. What Warren preferred to use this time for was to gather information. To listen to what the whispering men had to say. To discern the gossip from the truth. Physical strength was his forte, that much was obvious, but the man knew very well that knowledge was just as powerful. He might not have liked involving himself in politics when it could be helped, but he still knew the advantage of having a good idea about what was going on behind closed doors.
That said, many eyed him in a way he didn't care for. Making his opinions on the Dresmondi and the Eldouir known probably hadn't gained him any favors among the nobles. Whether or not Cassian Rainecourt wanted Dresmondi land for Nevermere was not his concern, but Warren knew as well as anyone that leaving the Eldouir to their own devices would eventually cause trouble. The sooner they were dealt with, the better. If a plea for aid from the Dresmondi had to be the catalyst for bringing that justice about, so be it. It gave them reason. Now they had only to capitalize on it before it was too late.
Many of the Nobles seemed off put by this idea. As far as they could tell, the Eldouir were out of the way. They didn't care what the redheads were doing with the Dresmondi as long as it wasn't on Nevermeran or Lorendaler soil. They were short-sighted, though. They were thinking too much like Nobles and not enough like a family who considered themselves unjustly slighted.
The Dresmondi/Eldouir conflict was not the only source of information he wanted to hear about, though. As he circled the room, his eyes fell upon a young woman who he knew to a small degree though they had never spoken much beyond introductions. Regardless, he made his way over to her and as he approached, he bowed appropriately. "Lady Thornhill, it's a pleasure to see you again." His eyes addressed her initially, as they should, but then he turned slightly to glance around the room. "You must be glad to be back in Nevermere, if only for a short time."
