The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
It wasn't overly surprising that Adeline started to work before he even answered her. It's not like his answer mattered after all. She was the queen of her own making, and it wasn't like he could challenge someone who's family held an entire nation in a chokehold. Not alone in the back of a tavern.
For a second he thought his actions had been enough to slow her a little. But it was short lived, and her hands were back to work again. With more instructions, again not a surprise from a woman who seemed to enjoy her new leadership far too much. She liked this power, straight to her head, and that was even more worrying. "As you wish." And they could at least agree that the idea of a child was an abomination best not considered.
Picking Adeline up with ease he would gently lay her on the table before raising her skirts and lowering his head. His mind was elsewhere, not thinking about the woman in front of him as best he could. Thinking about the conclaves, as if this was just a woman from another caravan, humming one of the songs he remembered as he pulled his pants down. He went through all the motions with well practiced rhythm, giving Adeline the victory that she had come to claim.
Regardless of how Ermir felt, the deed was as Adeline was used to. After all, she had never known what actual love or fond feelings were. She had only mingled within her family and only produced a child with Hiram. All of her interactions had been to purely satisfy the human need.
She stretched out on the table afterward like a cat, satisfied with her prize. Sitting up, she studied Ermir with a pleased smile before hopping off the table and fixing her clothes. "I knew my faith was not misplaced."
Then she sidled up to him, brushing up against him and raising up on her tiptoes to speak into his ear. "If I send for you to report to the estate, I expect you to do so with haste. I do not like waiting." There was no other explanation offered. To her, she had claimed her prize and now it was hers to do so with as she wished. She offered one more smile to Ermir before heading out of the tavern and to carry on with her day.
Ermir's jaw clenched, turning it into a smile as she stretched out along his table. Along a table meant for better things than she would ever be. But all the same she was there, and his stomach was a roiling mess. It wasn't like he had a choice in the matter really, but all the same, he had gone through with it and was cleaning himself up.
And apparently, much to his dismay, she wasn't done using his power. The only thing that was good was how flighty and unpredictable these redheads were. There was a still a chance she'd fine a new thing to fixate on, another way to use her power. But for now he just smiled and nodded his head. "I'll make sure the wind is at my back to get there quick."
As Adeline left, he stood in the back room and finally the nausea overwhelmed him and he vomited on the floor. But he still stood there, knowing nothing had changed. And right now it felt like it never would. After a little while Elaxi came in, helped him clean up the room and help him into the tub in the back. If anyone could understand it was her, although Ermir didn't say much back as she talked. Not for the rest of the day either, silently moving through the motions, tucking the kids into bed before drinking enough to pass out, surely a headache for the morning.
