[ For Zevran & Rune ]
Temperance didn't often venture too deep into Skia. Not for lack of knowing it. She knew it as well as the average citizen, she'd guess. But in the past ten years she'd spent much more time in her greenhouse than on the Skia streets, and after acquiring her 'maid' Melody had begun to do most of the shopping for them. That left Temperance with little reason to venture into the city at all.
But she got bored sometimes and needed a nice long walk, so she'd decided to take some time to herself for the day. She'd wanted to give Thomas a break, so she brought Artos along with her. The big-little black pup padded along next to her, occasionally trying to nip at the simple green dress she often wore that hung a little too far past her feet and dragged the gown. "Artos, stop it," she said playfully, leaning down to scratch between his ears with two fingers. He looked up at her with his tongue hanging out and they continued through the streets.
She stopped by the market and purchased some onion bulbs to plant next to her beets, and hung them along her leather belt which carried the dagger Constance insisted she wear. Exchanging hellos with people here and there that recognized her, Temperance strolled through the market at a casual pace until she looked down and noticed her little black companion had disappeared. "Stars and stones..." she cursed under her breath, glancing around and back-tracking the way she'd come to see if she could find the dog.
A few moments later she spotted him, sitting off to the side of the cobblestones, his little head tilting back and forth, ears flopping as it did. "Artos!" She called out to him, hurrying over and squatting down to pick him up from behind but as she did, she saw what he was looking at. "Oh..." Another animal stood just head of them. Temperance was so entranced by the animal itself and how calmly it sat there while people passed that she didn't notice if it's human companion was nearby. "Hello there...you're quite peculiar, aren't you?" She looked down at Artos but the puppy kept it's eyes trained on the silver fox, his tongue hanging happily out the side of his mouth.
"I've never seen a fox with markings like this. How beautiful."
