The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Suddenly, it all made sense with her answer. He expected her surprise and while he didn’t back away from her, he didn’t advance. He wouldn’t embrace her for what she had not been blessed with. And for that, he nodded. “So the Parabolti are like your own children in a way.” He said it evenly. “Women who were seen as weak and wanting to grow, women for you to shape and mold into a better version.”
Rian raised a hand then, slow, steady, as he cupped her chin between his forefinger and thumb. His hold strong but not in a bruising way. “We go tomorrow. Meet me here after sunrise, Catrin of the Parabolti.”
Catrin's mouth dropped open and she blinked a few times as his words sank in and she realized that he was absolutely correct. How this man had the ability to deduce something not even she had come to terms with for herself was beyond her, but she found it comforting in an odd way. Getting a grip on herself, she stuttered out, "Y-yes, that's correct."
His hand raising had her tensing, but she didn't shy away from him as he gripped her chin, holding her gaze in place. Her eyes widened and she found she had to swallow around a knot in her throat. He held her in a possessive manner, and she should have loathed it. But she didn't. In fact, her body betrayed her as a bit of warmth flared within her lower abdomen.
"Tomorrow then," she confirmed, taking a step away if he allowed her to and regaining her composure enough to nod a farewell before she'd leave his tent, ensuring her steps were not too fast and that her shoulders remained straight.
The moment her eyes widened, a crooked smirk appeared on his lips. Small, not cocky but rather pleased with the reaction and her lingering just a touch longer than he thought she would. There was no denial that a warmth stirred in him as she stepped away. One that almost had him stepping after her, chasing her. But he held his ground, giving a faint nod to her confirmation.
He said nothing further, but watched her move from his home. Tracking every detail of her movements until he no longer could see her form. What an interesting woman… he certainly liked the thought of her.
