The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Calanthe? The girl’s name might have meant little to Kaveri, but Kester recognized it the minute it left Keion’s mouth. With a quick glance over, she scanned his expression for any sign of deceit but found none. Still, something of a chill traveled down her spine.
When Kaveri and Nephys had warned her about this mysterious Blackwood who had asked uncomfortable questions about Dresmondi dyrs, she had naively imagined that the woman in question would have the same disconcerting air about her if Kester ever met her. Calanthe, however, had been all smiles and quick to offer her knowledge of sign language. Was that a façade? Or had her questions to Kaveri been nothing more than idle curiosity after all?
Kaveri, I’ve met her, Kester blurted to Kaveri as soon as he finished speaking to Keion. She’s teaching me sign language.
Keion nodded his head slowly, "Yes, my niece. She is my brother's daughter." He remembered belatedly that the Dresmondi had a much different way of framing family than any other kingdom he knew. "That sounds like her. Always curious about the world around her. Many of us Arynnites always strive to unravel the world around us and figure out how exactly it works."
At the mention of the Blackwoods, Keion couldn't help his toothy grin. "Not many other families in Arynn Frey are as prominent as the Blackwoods, aside from the royal family, of course. It's a very prestigious name and found quite frequently in the history of our great kingdom." He didn't bother explaining that Calanthe was technically not a Blackwood yet. She would be, sooner rather than later.
Chuckling and shrugging, he continued, "That makes us sound so very full of ourselves. I apologize." He had intended to have a full conversation with these Dresmondi, but if Calanthe had already been speaking and interacting with them... It was something he could perhaps cross of his list.
Dipping his head again, he said, "Well, it was certainly nice to meet you all. I hope I have not disturbed your day too much, but I fear I must be on my way now." With another nod of farewell, he would be on his way.
