[ For @berengar ]
Although Meiying was no longer a member of the military, practicing her magic was still important to her. Working mostly behind a desk didn't have to mean being stagnant in one's training. With all of the possible upcoming conflicts rearing their heads, she wanted to make sure she still in combat shape. You never knew when you would be thrown into battle, no matter your position, and she had no intention of going down without a fight.
She was a busy woman, though, and keeping up with Kennet Caern was no simple task. Occasionally she found unscheduled time to slip away and she had to jump on the opportunity. It helped that the equipment she needed to practice was on the grounds as well. She was no stranger to the military wing. It hadn't changed much since she'd chosen to leave, and she didn't foresee it changing any time soon. That much, at least, was comforting.
Today had been one of those days she'd been able to slip away. The King was busy, and Kennet had an appointment outside of the castle. She was mostly caught up on paperwork, and had changed quickly into some training attire, her nagaika at her hip, and hurried out to claim a few dummies in the training field. She stood now around thirty yards away from the targets and stared them down. She took a few moments to breathe and focus her energy, then she lifted her hands, muttered under her breath, and tossed three separate balls of unseen energy in quick succession. Each one hit a dummy with enough force to push it down to the ground, throwing a bit of the straw stuffing out of it.
"Well done, my lady!" A young man who had accompanied her called out as he hurried toward the dummies to right them again. Mei sighed, lifting a hand of thanks for his compliment, though she would have preferred he not speak at all.
