The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Felicity had dreamed of hearing words similar to these come from her husbands mouth, but to witness them now was so much sweeter than she had even imagined. She felt quite tempted to lean out of her carriage and set a kiss on his cheek. She refrained, of course, but her cheeks grew rosy and her eyes filled with she’d tears. A small smile of relief sat on her lips.
“Tybalt, I—“ her breath hitched and she had to recover for a beat before she could continue, “I too am a soldier. I do not presume to know the ways of politics, but…but inaction is compliance, and I will not—I cannot—sit by any longer.” The words maybe he hadn’t heard that day in the hall when he was likely reeling from the humiliation of her standing in court.
Arynnite armor: The armor have two states: active and inactive. When inactive, they look like little more than ornate metal bracers, easily ignored. When triggered, the armor covers Tybalt and serves as an exoskeleton. It will protect its wearer from physical damage and is practically indestructible.
The armor has a certain "preprogrammed" purpose which is to protect its host. To do so, it reacts to heightened emotional states such as fear and anger, at which point the armor will trigger regardless of whether or not Tybalt wants it to or even if he's immediately aware of the threat. It has some degree of awareness and sentience although very basic and one which struggles to differentiate between enemies and friends. Whilst not actually in possession of a will, the armor can guide or direct its host in a specific action, much like a reflex.
The armor needs to be "fed" as Tybalt has discovered meaning that he must hold and absorb through touch certain metals such as steel, copper, iron and tin, a process which takes a few minutes. Without which, the armor will begin to weaken and become less effective until no longer able to manifest.
Perhaps its greatest weakness is that if being consistently bashed or beaten, it would begin to repair itself by using parts of the armor from elsewhere. For instance, if the wearer is being consistently hit in the chest, the armor will begin to pool away from other parts of their body such as the feet and hands, leaving them vulnerable.
There was almost a little smile on Felicity's husband's face, as he sensed the change in her demeanor. It reminded him of just why it was that he had agreed to their bond, in the first place.
Tybalt couldn't help but tense up just a little bit when Felicity declared that she wouldn't be sitting by any longer. In many ways, it shouldn't have been a surprise to him, at least not after her outburst some weeks ago. The man struggled to think of how to respond to just what it was that his wife had said. There were so many implications, and potential pitfalls. The commander found himself to be treading on eggshells. He chose his next words carefully. "What is it that you intend to do?" He needed to know if these were just words, spoken passionately, but without any real planning or intent, or if on the contrary, he could expect action from her.
Whilst they might have agreed on a few things, the man still hoped to be able to quell and reason with some of Felicity's more firey tendencies.

At Tybalt’s question Felicity found herself at a crossroads. She could tell him about Simon..but then, what part had she even taken in that? None, really, except expressing her support and showing her support for what was released in the streets. It had been a failed attempt, but it had been an attempt.
“I have no plans.” She said truthfully, as it was true for her. “But I wi seek to support whoever does.” And that was okay. It wasn’t treason to disagree with the queen. It was natural that nobles thought differently from their monarchy.

Felicity's words unsettled Tybalt a little. They were just about ambiguous enough to have a hidden meaning. For a moment, he almost questioned her meaning. Instead, the commander opted to stay quiet about the exact meaning. He trusted his wife, and in his mind, there was no way that she would ever do anything which he would considered to be insubordination. Although, at no point did it cross his mind that their definitions of just what exactly treachery was, could be even remotely different.
Instead, the commander chose to imagine that they might create some sort of a committee, or a syndicate which would represent those who had some doubts, and concerns about the way that the winds were blowing. "I understand." The commander answered after a moment. Although, he couldn't help but offer some caution. "I would be careful with whom you approach though my love. There are many in the kingdom who will seek to use the current climate for their own again, rather than the interests of Lorendale and its people."

Felicity heard his warning, but kept silent. She had been invited to Fischer Wyndham’s meeting and seen the folly of what it was that man had been doing. She would never join a cause with greedy gain at its heart.
“And what,” she asked him, since he said he was starting to see the truth, “do you intend to do?” Because he could say he saw the issue all day long and sit on his hands. Many a noble did. That wasn’t conviction, that was fear. She hoped Tybalt had something. Anything.

Tybalt didn't know about any dealings that Felicity might have had with Fischer Wyndham. A blessing, that whole business would likely have been enough to stop the commander's heart. As it was, he remained blissfully unaware of that particular adventure.
Felicity asked a fair question. Thankfully, it was one that her husband had already had the occasion to think about somewhat. "I have more authority now as commander. I intend to move against the Eldouir. If we no longer have that axe always looming over our heads, I dare to hope that things within our borders might settle down a little." It was a hope. If there wasn't the same threat of demons appearing among them at any instant and bringing with them chaos, then maybe there might be less fear. Perhaps Tybalt was naive... "I will need to queen's agreement for that much. She isn't a warrior queen, not yet at least. She doesn't want to risk lives. I can understand that..." Tybalt's tone would make it clear that there was no judgement, nor condemnation in his tone.
"Which is why I hope to work with the military officials in Nevermere, and perhaps Arynn Frey also. We work together. With our combined forces, and magic, we pool our ressources, and come up with a strategy to deal with all of the Eldouir, and ensure that they're no longer a threat." It was simple enough on paper. In practice though it was going to take a lot of work, and time that Tybalt was quite certain they were rapidly running out of. No doubt he would be visiting Cassian some time soon.

Felicity heard her husband’s plan, and while she would wholeheartedly put all her efforts behind it, there was a sinking reality to what he said: he would need the Queen’s agreement. She wasn’t a warrior queen. She didn’t want to lose anyone. Tybalt may not condemn her for that opinion, but Felicity did. War was war and death always followed. It was for a brighter Lorendale. A better tomorrow. Tybalt’s plan had no timeline, and until Iliana got behind it it was only a dream. At the end of the day, inactivity prevailed.
She said nothing. Only nodded, a sinking feeling no doubt traveling between their bond.

Oh yes, Tybalt felt the sinking feeling within his wife. He had to struggle not to be dragged down by it himself.
He averted his gaze for a moment, it was about all he could to do to make sure that he kept his own head to be above the water. Tybalt was determined not to repeat the mistakes of his predecessors. He would not be another traitor like Nolan, and Hiram. Neither would he allow himself to become a do-nothing Commander, too afraid to make mistakes, and immobilized by a fear of losing his title to act. He'd had the time he needed to settle into the role. Now, was the time for action.
For the time being though, it was his wife whom he focused on. Tybalt would lean out of his saddle as much as he dared, and reach for her. If she allowed him, he would move to try and take her hand. Regardless, of if he was, or wasn't successful, he would give her a soft smile. It wouldn't hide some of his tiredness, but hopefully she might feel some comfort from it. "We're going to be alright."
He would do something for her. He didn't quite know what, but he would make things better.

Felicity didn’t shy away from Tybalt’s reach. In fact, she set her hand on the edge of the window to make it easier for him to cover. The smile he sent her, though simple, sent a blossom of warmth unfolding in her. As long as he smiled at her like that, there was hope for a brighter future. She couldn’t help but smile in return, some of her spirits lifted, if only slightly.
His words sounded to her like a promise. She nodded, taking him at his word, choosing to belief. To have hope. If she couldn’t put her faith in the Queen, surely she could put it in her husband. He has never failed her.
