The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

(this is a open thread)
Valeria is walking around the palace, mostly to make sure that she is familiarize herself with the layout. The last thing Val wants is when the Queen calls for her, for her to become lost. So making sure that she try and figure out any sort cuts/ fastest way possible to get from point A to point B. It defintly a place that Val feels like it will take a bit of time to familiarize her self with.
However, as she was walking around, she managed to find a area she familiarize herself with. She doesn't even know how she managed to get to this part of the palace. thankfully her years of training made sure she kept herself composed, a picture of a Lady. When she walked round the corner she noticed someone and gave a small curtsy out of a sign of respect. "What a lovely day it is today." Giving a warm smile.

Cordelia had enjoyed a cup of tea on a balcony, overlooking the kingdom and smoking a secret little cigarette. She only smoked once in a blue moon, but she was a little bit stressed. There was a lot of change happening, and although she knew it would bring them a good future, it was still a lot to deal with. She still needed to come up with and write down a proposal for Lorendale.
The woman went back inside and handed her empty cup to a servant before making her way down the corridor, back to her office. She didn't reach her office before encountering someone, though.
The older lady smiled and curtsied. "Oh it surely is! I was just on the balcony enjoying the sun. Valeria, right? Lady Valeria Delaney?"

Valeria confidently identifies the woman standing before her as Ms Cordelia Olivarius, the King's hand. Valeria had made a point to learn everyone's name and role when she first arrived and is not about to embarrass herself now. She understands that any mistake on her part would reflect poorly not only on herself but also on the Queen and her father, who had recommended Valeria for this position. "I am Lady Valeria, Ms Olivarius," she says with confidence. Valeria is aware that in Arynn Frey, titles such as Lord or Lady are not common, except for the royal family who use titles such as Prince, Princess, King, or Queen.

"Oh, please," she said, waving the formalities away, "Call me Cordelia." She smiled at the young woman. "My day has been good so far, I hope so is yours." She signaled for Valeria to walk with her. They could go to the gardens to enjoy the sun. "How are you adjusting to Arynn Frey? Do you miss Nevermere?"
Post by Valeria Delaney on Dec 2, 2023 13:39:28 GMT -5
It still odd with her not having formailties cause they how she was brought up to show respect to people. However, she remember that she is another area of skia and that certain things are different in areas and it will possible will take her time to get used to time. "Thank you Cordelia." giving her a warm smile as she followed the lady."I do miss my family in Nevermere, however, it differently an honour to be working for her majesty here in Arynn Frey. Any tip you can give me?"

This wasn't about formalities, and Valeria should definitely not call anyone by their first name, but Cordelia had never minded being on a first name basis with people. She wanted to be friends with others, not just acquaintances, and you didn't become friends without being allowed to call each other by the first name.
As they were walking, she would offer her arm to Valeria, so they could walk arm-in-arm, if she desired. Cordelia was a warm person, a bundle of joy and friendliness, and she wanted others to feel comfortable around her.
"That's understandable, dear. Did you bring your children with you, or are they with their father?" she asked, not in a way that eas prying, but genuinely interested in the woman's story and life. "Tips to help settle in, or tips to serve the queen?" she asked, just as they walked through the doors leading to the garden. She felt the sun on her skin and smiled. The sun fueled her.

As they walked Valeria linked arms with Cordelia as she offered it to her, it wasn't something she normally do. The only person she linked arms with was Kat as they were good friends however she disappeared. It did sadden val a bit There was a soft smile as she thought about Ora and of Keir. "My daughter is with her father, I thought that way her family and her cousins surround her." But it makes her hurt ache because there is no love compared to a mother's love.
When Cordelia asked if was fitting in or serving the Queen she thought for a bit. Feeling the skin on her face closing her eyes for a moment. "any would be helpful, I want to make sure that I am on the ball with serving her."

She was glad that Valeria had accepted to link arms with her. It felt cozy and nice to walk like this. The sun felt warm and good, but what the woman told her still made her heart sad. "I'm sorry, dear. I bet you miss them. Make sure to visit them as often as you can." She smiled. She had never been able to have children, but still she could imagine it was difficult to be away from them.
"Well, first of all, know that you can always come to me if you need a chat or some company. I've said the same to the queen, I want everyone to feel welcome and at home. The city is lovely and we have plenty of wonderful books to read. You'll feel at home in no time." She smiled again. "You're her lady in waiting, correct? Her children are absolute sweethearts, so I'm sure you won't have any trouble with them."
Post by Valeria Delaney on Dec 3, 2023 9:41:04 GMT -5
There was a sad smile but she shock it off, "I do miss them both, but it an honour being here and in a way I am doing it for them. Hopefully i have a chance to go and visit them or at least they have a chance to visit her here. However, that is down to the Queen and if she allows it. At the end of the day she is her boss.
Her smile changed when she mentioned books."Got to love a good book." It was true she could easily when she wasn't training (Even though she wasn't any longer in the military it was a hard habit to get out of and she thought if she need to protect the Queen she need to be in the best shape possible. "Yes I am the Queen's Lady-in-waiting. I am sure I love spending time with the Prince and Princess."

She didn't want to say or promise something she wasn't certain of, but Cordelia did have a feeling that Ophelia was an understanding person, who would allow Valeria to visit her family every so often. A mother knew what it was like to be away from her family and children, after all. She softly squeezed Valeria's arm with her free hand to console her.
The women seemed to have a few things in common. They appeared to both love the sun, and books! "So do I!" she said, excitedly. "Perhaps you and I should start a little book club, hmm? Discussing some books over a cup of tea. What do you think?" She laughed, although the offer was a genuine one. It just made her happy to think about it.
"Surely!" Cordelia said. "We also have some of the best scholars in all of Terra Nova, so the prince and princess will have a good education here."

The reasuring Squeeze was truly needed she needed a friend over here cause aside from the Queen she doesn't know a soul, in a way Valeria feels like a fish out of water, not like she would say anything. Val gave a true laugh when Cordelia suggested a book club, "That would be fun, if there any book you would like to suggest I would love to give them a read." Smiling at her, plus if they did have a book club, it would possibly will give Val more chances to meet more people the better.
"I always admired the education system here in Arynn Frey. It is truly admirable how things work." It was true she did read a lot before coming out here about how things work out here.

She stuck her bottom lip forward while thinking. "What kind of books do you enjoy reading?" she asked. Cordelia had read mostly non-fiction books during her younger years, due to het education, and even as a teacher she had been reading mostly non-fiction.
"That's a honour to hear. We do pride ourselves on it, yes." She smiled softly. "I used to be a teacher myself! For quite a long time, too."

Valeria is an avid reader and when asked about her reading preferences, she took a moment to think before responding. "I enjoy reading a variety of genres, such as history, philosophy, and fiction. I don't think there isn't a genre I don't enjoy." Valeria finds joy in exploring diverse topics and ideas through literature. As she thought about her favourite books, she explained how she immerses herself in the stories and gains a deeper understanding of the world around her.
Valeria looked at Cordelia when she explained that she used to be a teacher. "That is pretty cool, what sort of subject did you use to teach?"
Post by Cordelia Olivarius on Dec 11, 2023 11:19:27 GMT -5
"Oh, a little bit of everything", Cordelia responded with a smile. "Maths, literature, you name it, I taught it." They continued their stroll through the gardens. The woman was enjoying it thoroughly. It had been interesting to hear Valeria speak about her interests and her love for books.
"Say, you're a witch, right, Valeria?" She looked to the side, at the young woman. "That's very exciting."

Val kept her warm smile as she listened to Cordelia talk about what she taught it was truly fascinating about things. "education can help shape a young person's life. I am sure you influenced so many young people to grow up into amazing people." Valeria complicated the woman as they strolled in the gardens. She was taken in the views that surrounded them, shocking up the warmth of the summer air and enjoying the sun. Which is rare sight for her in Nevmere.
She looked at Cordelia when she asked her about being a witch, it truly is a tricky situation. What has Queen Ophelia told the people about witches and their abilities? Cause at the end of the day she would have to follow the Queen's lead on this situation now she was working for her. She said it exciting. "I guess it is pretty cool."Val gave a small laugh as she personally never really thought about it in such a way, as she grew up knowing that the woman can do magic so she never thought what the other areas might think of their magic. It also could be very dangerous if you are not careful with it.
