The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Keion was wandering through the streets of Elyusian, his ears always perked to catch some type of interesting conversation. It was not his main intention today though. No, today he was just looking for a bit of relaxation. Things were ramping up for the family and he was sure there would soon be no time at all for menial or relaxing tasks. So here he was, wandering aimlessly around the city until something caught his attention.
He found himself more towards the outskirts of the city and came across what looked to be a store front. He could see various pieces of glasswork on display inside. He hesitated for a moment and then entered the store, stopping at the front door to look around and admire the pieces dotting the shelves of the store.
Laxi was the little glass dragon who's human graced it with a shrine enchantment scheme that not only gave it movement but also the personality of a curious cat. While interesting and entertaining, it also led to moments of chaos when Laxi decided that new, suspecting people that came into its human's shop were interesting. Interesting for Laxi, not for Verula.
Lounging on a shelf above the door to the workshop, Laxi noticed the new human that walked into the shop to admire the other glassworks their human had made. Of course, the little dragon was the pinacle of glasswork so it hopped down on to the next shelf and the next, little glass nails clicking on the lacquered wood shelves. Until it hit a small dish, one not comfortable for lounging by Laxi's standards, and sent it tipping off the shelf. The glass dragon simply peered over the edge at it, tilting its head as the bowl clattered to the ground.
In her workshop, Verula sighed when she heard the serving dish hit the floor with a clatter, thankful for the umpteenth time that she included a nigh unbreakable enchantment into all of her shrine schematics. It'd take incredible force for any of her pieces to break, which was the reason her name was becoming more known bit by bit. She set down the glass rods she was setting aside for a commission piece and walked out into the shop with the intent to scold the little dragon.
Keion's attention was drawn to a small clicking sound coming from somewhere in the room. He looked around, trying to pinpoint the sound, when his gaze landed on what appeared to be a small glass dragon making its way down some shelving. He tilted his head slightly and approached it slowly, unsure what exactly the creature was or what it could do.
He froze in place when the dragon knocked a small dish from the shelf, holding his breath as it tumbled to the floor, expecting the glass to shatter into pieces once it met the floor. But it simply bounded across the floor without so much as a crack and Keion sighed with relief, his attention going back to the small dragon. When he saw it was simply looking down at the dish with it's head tilted, he couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. "Well, aren't you an interesting little creature?" he mused out loud.
Just then a woman bounded out of a door and into the shop, most likely drawn by the sound of the dish clattering to the floor. He offered her a smile, nodding towards the dragon. "It would appear your friend here didn't like that dish being in its way."
Verula first noticed the bowl on the floor, then Laxi staring down at it and then, thirdly, the man in her shop. Given the way that Laxi was currently peering over the shelf with little glass eyes moving to look at the man, it was pretty clear to her that the little dragon had gotten curious and decided to investigate. She gave the man a fondly exasperated smile as she picked up the bowl.
"Spatial awareness was something that I apparently forgot to put into Laxi's schematics." The faux annoyed look that she shot at the dragon obviously had no effect as the glass creature opened its mouth in a silent yawn before it resumed its trek along the shelves, obviously more careful now that Verula was in the room. Instead of putting the bowl back on the shelf, she set it on the desk near the door to her workshop.
"I apologize, Laxi's probably going to stalk you around the shop at the moment." She gave him a smile more amused than apologetic as she pushed her curls back behind her ear. Her furnace had been going even though she hadn't started her pieces yet so while she wasn't sweating (yet), she was a little hot. "So what can I do for you, today?"
Keion took a bit of time to observe the woman standing in front of him, noting how she seemed to react to the little glass creature as if it was her pet and how there seemed to be a bit of a flush to her skin at the moment. "Oh that is quite alright. So you created it? I have to say, that's quite ingenious to enchant it to act like an animal," he offered her one of his brilliant smiles, "You made everything in this shop then? Your storefront caught my attention and I had to come inside to see what all was offered. You have many beautiful pieces here." He said the last line while looking around the store, eyes lingering on each piece for a moment.
She didn't flush at the compliment or the brilliant smile, not that he would notice with her skin still flushed from the heat of her workshop. "I did. Laxi is one of the most complex and earliest enchantments I've made." There as a little pride in her voice but not enough to be grating or to be considered smug. Just pride in her workmanship.
"Thank you." A hint of a flush this time could be seen. "These are more basic works but yes, I have made everything in the shop in my attached workshop." She didn't usually have people wandering into her shop based kn her storefront. More often than not, they were looking for basic glass and hers was more easily found.
The smile stayed on his face as he glanced between her and the small dragon, a look of wonder still on his face. "Well, consider me quite impressed. I like how you've chosen to use your enchantments. Such beautiful works of art."
He did a small turn then, eyeing the different pieces in her shop. "I'm quite sad I have not found your shop before. I don't have a need for anything at the moment. But my young niece's birthday is coming up soon and I think she would love something from you." He nodded absently, his mind already working away at ideas.
If he thought these were impressive, the more basic pieces with every day enchantments, she wondered what he would think of the commissions she was more often sought out for. Even then, they weren't usually along the lines of Laxi but they were still more complicated than the glassware on her shelves.
"I do commission work as well, be it for more personalized designs or for specific enchantments that I don't put on every piece." Each of her pieces, regardless of enchantment, always had a high durability component and she could build off of that with ease. Then she realized that she hadn't introduced herself to the man in her shop and she gave his a slight smile and offered her hand. If he looked at it, there would be various small but faded burn marks from her years of working with glass and callouses on her palms and fingers. "Apologies, I haven't introduced myself. Verula Lidayne, glassmaker."
Keion nodded in understanding. He would remember her and would certainly commission a piece for Calanthe at a later date. For now, he was sure he had spent too much time lingering here. There was work to be done. Before he could take his leave, she offered her hand and introduced herself.
He flashed a smile at her, taking her hand and pressing a light kiss to the back of it, even if she had meant to only shake his hand. "Keion Blackwood. It has been so nice to meet you. I will think on a commission and send it your way at a later date. It has been so very nice to meet you, but unfortunately I must be on my way." With one final smile, he would wait for her response before he headed out of her shop, pleased to have made a new acquaintance.
Verula blinked at both the name and the kiss to the back of her hand, with a slight blush to her cheeks. She hadn't expected a Blackwood to ever step foot into her own shop. Much less for one to commission something from her.
"It's been a pleasure and I look forward to whayever challenge you give me. Hope the rest of your day is pleasant." She gave him a broader smile as she saw him out of her shop. After he left, Verula would replace the bowl on the shelf then head back to her workshop to get back to the commission piece she had yet to start.
