As the sun, hidden behind clouds, sinks lower and the lanterns that line the streets are lit, everyone knows what time it is. The day of dancing and building wreaths has started to come to a close and now the test of luck and love begins (or so they say). Eager men, noble and commoner alike, move towards the coast line. Some wading into the water to try and find that wreath they had seen being made earlier in the day. Or perhaps they were going to let luck and the Goddess guide their hand and just pull one at random. Some lined the docks with nets or laying on their chests to grab at them with their hands. Others, some married or not wanting to try the fates, stay back to watch the women who step forward.
Removing the wreaths from their heads, they will set their wreaths into the water and let the waves carry them. Some will sink, weighed down by too many items. Some will sink because a wave just happened to catch it or perhaps something under the water deemed it unworthy to make it to the horizon. Some would be snagged by eligible bachelors and some will make it all the way out. If the wreath makes it out of view, good luck is said to be blessed by the Goddess herself for said witch.
Once the wreaths are out, whatever their fates, would the music start up again and the night time festivities begin. The children being herded back home for bed, and the estates opening their doors for private invite only parties.
Part 2 of the festival from this thread - Let's put our tulips together
Festival Group Thread Rules:
- This is a celebration that the Coven of the Twofold Goddess hosts every year. Meaning that not everyone in Nevermere follows this coven, but everyone is welcomed to join in on the celebrations and fun.
- Please wait two posts between your last one so that way others do not take over the thread. If you want to split into separate threads, please make sure to link to it in your post in this thread. And then re-post in here once your characters have re-joined.
- Last, but certainly not least: HAVE FUN! This is a fun little event for us all. Commoners, Nobility, Royalty, visitors (if they are already approved to be in Nevermere) alike are welcomed!
